Rep Power: 8 | | LOL well was wishing for the 430's but that was greed lol. The water lost has stopped and I am only down .5 lbs since yesterday. I expect to lose on average .5 lbs a day give or take depending on my output of course. I am really eating about 3000 cals which is 1200 to 1600 cals (depending on what calculator you use) below maintance if I don't do anything at all. SO thats almost 1lb every 2 days just in caloric deficit. this seems to slow down in the first couple weeks as I drop some weight but I am going to try to even out at 2 to 4 lbs a week for now. From what I have read the safe weight loss speed is approx 1% of your body weight so this is cool.
I weighed in at 440lbs even so still a lose from yesterday but the writing is on the wall, the water is gone and there will not be to many more 3 or 4lb days Weeks I hope but not days lol
That being said I took a short walk today but I am pretty exaughsted. I work and go to school full time and last night I worked a 12 hour shift went to bed at 4 am up at 6:30am to get ready for school. I am just getting too old for 3 hour of sleep days and I am litterally dead on my feet with an 8 hour shift to go. Will get my 2500 steps for today but tha is about it I think. I will get a good night sleep though and push myself more tommorow.

Rep Power: 20 | | I know there are alot out there who like to weigh themselves daily, but remember that your weight will fluctuate from day to day. I get so frustrated and upset if I see little or no movement that it sets me up for an excuse to "slip", so I try only to check once a week. No only do I eliminate possible stress from a "not so great reading", I'd also rather see a loss of 2.5 pounds once, than a few.5lbs thruout the week. (just seems bigger to me lol).
great work so far, keep up the good work! |

Rep Power: 43 | | Sometimes SLEEP is more important than exercise in a day. If your tired and not getting rest, your body is not able to recover from that days stress. Stress doesn't necessarily have to be bad either, so it could be good stress for that day, nonetheless, your body needs regroup time, and if you deprive your body of that it will certainly start showing by giving you body aches, headaches and usually and most important lack of memory. So I think you made a good call and making sure your body is rejuvenate by rest. AHHHHHH nothing like a good shut eye night. Tomorrow is a new day, and you could double up on the walking if you get the chance. Good for you and the .5 down. Every little bit is another success. SAVOR the moments!

Rep Power: 8 | | thnaks yarm and Miss lady the bad news is I just got told I have to work another 12 tonight guess I will sleep tommorow. The worse new is while you guys are talking about orgies in Ms Booty's tread I have been stuck writing a 700 word paper on the effects of cultural stereotypes on tourism. So thats what I am posting lol I hit the 700 word mark exactly but still have grammer corrections ect to make but if your a board nerd like myself it's a fun 5 second read. The Effects of Stereotypes and Taboos on Tourism and Peoples behavior around particular cultures.
Cultural stereotypes are some of the strongest influential factors in how people in general behave around particular cultures. Stereotypes often come from literature, movies, television and the media. These stereotypes can create problems for entire groups of people, both those who believe in them, and those who are judged by them.
Tourism is, people from one culture, spending their money to immerse them selves in another culture. Barriers to having a thriving tourism industry are often rooted in stereotypes. For instance, many North Americans see the people of Africa, in the stereotypical way of being poor, barbaric head hunters. They would not consider vacationing in Africa because of this stereotype. A stereotype held due to a misunderstood ancient religious practice. Dramatically used in movies, books, the media and even in children’s cartoons like bugs bunny. The country of Africa and its people suffer by not receiving the tourism because of these stereotypes. The people, who hold these stereotypes, also suffer by never getting to see one of the most beautiful continents on earth.
A recent example of a stereotype that is flourishing in The United States is that marijuana is as much a part of Canadian culture as it is in say Amsterdam. This stereotype is fueled primarily by the media. It has grasped on to proposed legislations to decriminalize simple possession of marijuana. The idea behind the legislation was to lesson the long term effect on people, who have been convicted of simple possession. They were looking at people who were otherwise law abiding citizens, but now had a felony on their records for life for simple possession. The media made huge deals about how “The liberalized pot laws and of Canada will make marijuana use common place along with trafficking to the U.S. Since this time I have noticed that many Americans in my wife’s family believe that all of Canada is like Amsterdam and smoking pot is part of our daily culture. My mother in law is a pastor at her church and many members of her church have told me they will no longer consider visiting Canada because of the “drugs that are everywhere”.
One key factor that affects tourism, cultures and stereotypes is co modification. Co modification is when a people’s culture is turned into a commodity, to lure tourists. Aspects of the culture are used to entertain tourists. This may lead to stretching of truths, exaggerations of facts and extra dramatic flare being added to cultural happenings. When a tourist experiences such a thing, he may start to spread stereotypes that he has taken away from the experience. The people “back home” have never been, they may take what he says as truth passing it on and further perpetuating the stereotype. For example, a person goes to Rio de Janeiro and sees the culture on the beach, topless women and near naked men everywhere. Asking a local he is told that “The Beach is Rio”. On the way back to his motel he is mugged, when he tells fellow travelers he is told of, warnings that there is a lot of crime in Rio. He happens to be there during the Caravel festival and sees much drinking and many cross dressing, gay and Trans gendered men. This traveler goes back to Canada and tells all his friends that the people in Rio are Shiftless lay bouts who spend the days at the beach and robbing tourists. At night they spend their time getting drunk and having gay orgies. Rio’s Government and tourism industry has tried to use the culture to attract tourism, by turning the way of life into a commodity. This will work great with people who have positive experiences but will backfire with those who have negative experiences like the example above.
This shows us that Stereotypes and Taboos have a great effect on Tourism and Peoples behavior around particular cultures. The way they are portrayed in the media, T.V., movies and literature has a strong effect on tourism and peoples behavior. That effect can be either, positive or negative, but it is a strong effect either way.

Rep Power: 31 | | | Hey man... okay let me first start by saying, I am a complete nerd. (Psychology, mathematics, Animal Sciences, Biology, Physics, Chem) I've had my share of writing papers for some of the most hard assed bastard professors around. I'll just point out a few things... use "colons" and "semicolons." Also.... for your stereotypes and definitios, you really should find a few quotes/ excerpts from books and document them properly. I understand it's only a 700 word paper (fuck me.. why didn't I have these when I was going to school?... shit..lol), but hey... that's for future reference.
-Sheryl
PS Fuck that daily weighing crap.
Fluctuations are a bitch, so choose to weigh
yourself either once a week or once every two
weeks. If anything, measuring tapes are MUCH better
IMO. |

IMO. | yeah this is a prep course cause I didn't finish high school and we watched movies and we were to draw our ideas from the movies so there was no text to quote unfortunatly. 700 sucks I had 886 and had to cut the sheet out of it. I start at the University in Jan I have rudementry academic writing (to work on the colons semi colons and grammer thing I suck at and Intro to Soc. I am majoring in History with a soc minor then praying to go into education but as I will need to do the ba part time it will take me 5 to 6 years. I figure it took me 34 to graduate high scool what 7 or 8 to get my teaching degree lol.
As for the wieghing everyday thing. over the last year I have tried daily, weekly and monthly and find I cheat less, work harder and don't freak out as much when I weigh myself daily. I know I am ass backwords for everything
I hope I can count on you for some proof reading then when I start with the real writing stuff in a couple months
I am doing ok so far for not being in school for 14 years. I got Travel and Tourism and Law with 97% and 95.6% in them at midterm. Will see about the exam though been a long time since I wrote a 3 hour test |

Brad, thanks for stopping by my journal. And thanks for actually bothering to read part of it. I think people don't bother reading my journal entries because they're so darn long; I can't help being verbose when writing, most of the time anyway.
Good job on the weight loss so far and congrats on going back to school as well. I can't imagine trying to work, go to school, and cook food or eat properly. Like me, my boyfriend is also losing weight by exercise and eating less, but since he's in school full time and nearly works full time, all of the food stuff falls on me. There's no way I'd be able to do what I'm doing now if I were in school too.
I totally understand what you're saying below. I wasn't as overweight as you, and it wasn't exactly a life or death situation, but I fully empathize with you when you say you're so *!&%@ing sick of being fat.
Part of my motivation for weight loss comes from wanting to start a family. I want to have kids and I want to model good eating habits and exercise for them. My parents did a good job raising me in most ways, but they didn't model those behaviors. I'm not blaming them for my weight problems by any means, but I want to at least be able to live an active, healthy lifestyle so I can live a long time for my children and so I can set a good example for them. I don't want to cus but in all honesty I am really @#$%^&* tired of being so fat and have had enough off losing weight just to put it on again. No more I am extreamly unhappy with many aspects of my life and try to fake like I am not. People don't know, not even those close to me but I am at a fork in the road and one path is "weight Loss" and the other is "death". I am trying to go down the right one hope this board can help
| I really like the mohawk, by the way.
And, if you ever want help with editing or cleaning up papers, I'm you're woman. You send me what you have in advance, and I'll clean it up.
Here's a tip: if you don't know how to use semicolons or colons, don't use them. I can help you though, if you want.
I'm a writer, a teacher of English/literature, and I have acedmic degrees in both journalism and English.
Take care and keep up the good work!
