I'm sorry to hear about the lack of bathroom action. I'm sure it will all come out all right in the end. |

Rep Power: 85 | | | Thanks for visiting. Sweatpea - Your food certainly does sound yummy. I am having no problem with the cabbage - indeed I cannot believe how much fibre I am having - and not a sign of tummy rumblies here. You would not believe it possible! I have had a portion of my lentil, cabbage and carrot soup which will contain over a cupful of cabbage. I divided a pan containing over 5 cupfuls evenly into 5 containers. In addition - being Sunday we had a roast dinner and I always have my plate piled high with boiled veg. Well I actually had cabbage in the big pan that I did between us (so I ignored that for the challenge - I will have no problem having the outstanding cupful) but I also measured 2 cups of cabbage into a second pan and that was all for me. So 1 cup yesterday and 3 cups today means that I am well on my way to my required consumption.
I felt sure that I would get some tummy rumblies with all my fruit and veg - but not a jot. Kimberly
Heaven knows what I will weigh tomorrow at this rate with all that food weight if something doesnt happen soon.
It is nice to dream about the temptation that is chocolate disappearing for ever. I used to work with a Belgian lad who used to go home each weekend and bring back chocolates for the team every Monday.
Take care

Before Friday people were only really getting ready to start the challenge. The challenge only really started on Friday so it is just like the last challenge where the weeks run from Friday through to the next Thursday - with the option to weigh either Thursday or Friday just like last time. It means that you count your exercise and cabbage eating just from Friday - but you have right up until next Thursday to get it all done. You therefore have heaps of time to eat cabbage.
I think that it is a brilliant idea of yours to walk your dog. He will really love it and I am sure that you will enjoy spending the time together. It would be a fun form of exercise. It would help to keep the dog healthy too which has to save on vet bills in the long term.
I think that one of the things that I really like about walking (aside from being great exercise and therefore helping my weight loss dreams come true) - is that it gives me a lot of time to think. Also I have been much more tranquil since I started walking - life is less of an emotional roller-coaster ride for me.
Take care

Margaret | It started Thursday - ah ok - I dunno why I thought it was earlier on in the week - thatnx now I can stop sweating about gettin the detour done
For mock cabbage rolls - you chop up the cabbage - boil it and then add it to your veggie/meat sauce...I dont roll them - this way I can measure and such...and know how much I am eating...
I agree with the walking it gave me plenty of time to think and such and it makes me feel really good - when I am stressed out I walk to clear my head and so on
I use to love walkign the dog every morning - I think I will get back into that |

Having an inclination towards constipation and not having "been" - I was actually hoping for some sort of action and was eating extra fruit to try and bring it about. Eventually - some action resulted - but I am not convinced that it was anywhere like enough! I just hope that it prevents me from getting pained. Cerella
You have tons of time up to and including all day Thursday to eat that cabbage and get the exercise in. The cabbage rolls sound nice. I was thinking something more along the lines of dolmades with cabbage leaves instead of vine leaves. I remember on one of my many many failed diets experimenting with having a spaghetti bolognese idea where I substituted boiled cabbage instead of spaghetti. It wasnt brilliant but it wasnt too bad either. Definitely a meal that you would only have if on a diet.
I hope that you get back into walking - although I recognise what a busy schedule you have. Mind you on days like today (it is raining very very heavily - such that it has knocked out the satellite dish) - there is much to be said for not bothering. My hubby has told me that I am insane if I go out walking in it. Naturally - I will be going out walking in a little while. Maybe when I get to goal weight I will do an exercise video and not go out walking on days like today. As things currently are - I do not dare miss out on my walking on a day that I had planned to walk.
Take care

Rep Power: 13 | | Marg, I think it's great that walking has decreased your stress level substantially. To find not only an outlet, but a *healthy* outlet that calms you is fantastic. This is how it is when I run. It's just me and my music and my treadmill and my thoughts. It's as if I can figure things out when I'm down there running. My racing pulse and rabid breath augment my ability to sort through my head it seems. It's great to hear I'm not the only one with this ability.
Good luck with this cabbage challenge, hon. I'm rooting for you.
Hope you're having a good Monday! |

I'm sorry all that fiber isn't producing the desired effects. I'm sure it will happen soon, though.
I saw that England is getting pounded with wind and rain, and I thought of you out walking in it like a heehee. I certainly do admire your dedication. I think I'd rather walk in place at home while watching the telly. I'm sure you did a splendid drowned rat impression today. |

Rep Power: 85 | | Thanks for visiting. I hope that everyone has a great Tuesday. Rae
I dont know whether you know Janice (Abbagirl) - but she also swears by the calming effect of the treadmill. There is something so theraputic about a nice long walk that means that things can be thought about and analysed.
My challenge quota of boiled cabbage is eaten - but not to worry - I will have some tonight for fun but will not bother measuring! We are having another roast chicken so I always like a good selection of vegetables on my plate. Kim
I know that you will do well with the challenge. If the exercise for the challenge is shared equally I think it means that everyone does something like 4 hours 17 minutes. I know how long you spend at the gym - you can do that without even trying. I cannot imagine that your team will have any difficulties with the challenge. I have only seen Amy about the various diaries but have been looking in on young Shannon since he joined at the start of the year. He is pretty consistent with going out walking / jogging and should get that in without any effort at all. Part of him fancies joining a gym - but he needs a bit of encouragement. He considered one but had second thoughts.
I suspect that you will all get through the cabbage without even trying to. Eating is something that few of us on the forum have ever had much problem with. Tell us that it is healthy and low calorie and our newly-found food conscience doesn't hold us back.
I strongly suspect that you are going to be like me with weightloss being the big challenge questionmark each week. We can only do our best - keep up the exercise and keep firm control on our food and hope for the best. Janice
I popped into your diary straight away as soon as I saw your ticker. You must be so delighted to have been able to move your ticker to show that you have LOST 50 POUNDS. That is such a great milestone.
I wish that I was hovering above my goal weight like you are. Kimberly
Believe me - after working with that lad - I certainly gained an appreciation of Belgian chocolate. I certainly know why you lived there. I am sure that it will not surprise you to know that we gave that lad another contract after he had left and worked somewhere else for a while. We needed someone new for the team and the idea of re-hiring him was irresistable.
I am going to leave off the soup now for a few days and see if my weight improves. I want to be losing some weight this week.
Oh yes - it rained. The forecasters had all been agreeing that the bad weather was on its way - but you know what it is - part of you hopes that they are all wrong. Just listening to it in the early hours - you knew that they were right. I had an extra phone call from my mother in the morning telling me not to go out walking. I decided to go just the same. It is easier to go than be annoyed with myself for not going. One of the women at my keep fit class said that her sister had phoned and told her not to go out in it in order to go to the class - and she only lives 5 minutes away!
I got drenched. I did a pretty constant impression of a drowned rat and went through quite a lot of clothes because I kept having to change after walks.
The forecasters cannot all agree on what is happening with the weather today. Naturally you hope that the one saying the least amount of rain is right. Only time will tell.
I mentioned to Cerella that yesterday's weather has taken out the big satellite dish. Hubby is therefore less than happy. The little Sky dish is ok though - so my normal television is unaffected. The big dish is motorised - so it isnt that it has just been knocked out of alignment - hubby thinks that one of the cables may have been stretched / damaged by the high winds. I must admit that I would have been a lot more concerned if it had been the Sky dish.
Hubby has started to look at treadmills again - the idea being that we could have one in the living room instead of one of the two settees. It certainly would make our living room very non-standard. The fact is that we have very few visitors so rarely need more than one settee and a treadmill could be very useful. It would be great if hubby did more walking so I am not inclined to dismiss the idea as readily as I would have at one time. I think that yesterday's weather is possibly influencing me a little too.
Take care
Love

Rep Power: 43 | | MMMM I love brussel sprouts, I see you had some of those, MMMM most people think those are nasty, but I even loved them as a kid, do they count as a mini cabbage?? LOL LOL
How long have you been doing those ankle exercises?? I don't remember those before.
I bet your skin is looking really soft and youthful with all the cream you use, I've been doing my own routine with night cream and morning day cream too, it seems to be working for me so I'll keep it up.
Are you down a pound again from last week??Or is it more than that?? I'm really thinking a few pounds will be noted this week for me as well, I'm really shooting for 2-4 this week, as I've been working really hard, I hope it pays off.
Good luck to you!! have another great calorie burning day

Rep Power: 13 | | | Yey, look at that Marg, you got all your cabbage eating in. I honestly don't know if I could stand eating that much of it. Cabbage isn't exactly my favorite vegetable. LOL. Who knows though, maybe now that my taste buds have matured, I'll like it ten times more than I did when I was younger.
Now plums, do they help regulate your digestive system, Marg? It seems when I eat them, they tend to screw it up...if you know what I mean. I just can't do plums.
Hope you're having a good week, deary!! Big hugs!! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
