Hi Dawn. I do walk a fair bit!!!

The thing is that I have a hormone problem that means that I put on weight extra easily and find it extra hard to lose weight. I have found that by walking a lot and eating pretty carefully I can actually lose weight which is something that I have wanted to do for years.

It kind of motivates me to get walking and get the miles done!

It is something that you can do if you are not too fit to start with - and it has brought me a long way. I think that I walk more than just about anyone else on the forum (if anyone walks more than me - I have yet to track them down!)

I definitely recommend a pedometer. If it can motivate me to walk and lose weight - I think that it could help just about anyone.

Good luck in your own project.

Oh, Marg, I can say with absolute certainty, that no one walks more than you. You're a power-walker, honey and you never cease to amaze me with your ability to be so optimistic about life in general. There are times when I honestly wish I had a mindset more like yours. At times, I find it hard to go through life thinking 'You know what, life is okay', but everytime I come in here to your journal, for some reason, that mindset always relays itself in my head. I have you to thank for that deary. You've definitely an inspiration to me. You have been since I first discovered your journal! Big hugs!!!

Thanks for visiting.

Rae
If you can manage it - life is so much nicer if you can take the positive, optimistic viewpoint. You hit all the same problems that you hit if you have a negative approach - you just are more likely to have people on your side to help you through them.

I have to add that this past year has been a very positive time for me. I have felt good about how my weightloss project has gone - and that good feeling has helped to keep me in peaks instead of troughs. Also - I really do think that walking helps me.

Trevor
I am fine thanks. I hope that you are too.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Tell me more about your home made sugar free jelly made with squash, if you don't mind. Is it a jelly like you would put on toast or more like jello?? What kind of squash? Enquiring minds and all that....

Good morning/afternoon to you.

Possibly there is a confusion with the fact that we are divided by a common language.

The thing that you call jelly that you put on toast - we call jam.

This would not be a lot of use for me as I try to not ever have any bread (or crispbreads or crackers). If I do have bread it is more in the way of a diet lapse than something that I intend to happen.

The thing that we call jelly - I think you call jello - i.e. eat it with a spoon with fruit.

The squash is a low calorie no added sugar fruit drink that you add water to in order to make a long drink. Most of the low calorie bottles here you dilute 1 part with 4 parts water.

Basically - Hartley's is the main company that makes low calorie jelly here (for in a bowl with fruit). They only do the following flavours: raspberry, strawberry, blackcurrant, orange, lemon/lime. That choice can get a bit boring in the fulness of time. Especially if you are eating a couple of pints a day of the stuff.

Yesterday for example I made up a big bowl full of a pint of jelly made up with grapefuit squash and gelatine. I threw in some chunks of grapefruit. It was great.

The day before I made another great one - apple squash and gelatine with 60 grapes thrown in.

Other ones that I like are cherries and berries squash with cherries thrown in, and peach squash with chunks of peaches.

That sounds AWESOME!

Thanks for coming by my diary, it gets lonely in there with no one writing!

You have really done amazing with your weight loss journey. I am in awe, and thank you for the kind words with my lack of weight change this week. You eat so much fruit, i am going to try to eat more - you've inspired me! Hope you have a great day.

Ahhhh...so squash is a drink mix. not a vegetable for you....

BTW...when the stuff I spread on toast has real fruit chunks in it, it's jam...made with only the juice of the fruit, no chunks, it becomes jelly. Jello or gelatin is the stuff that jiggles and wiggles. lol

It's hard to believe we talk the same language.

Glad you and Rod are enjoying your treadmill. Does sound like you got a good deal on it!

I'm sure you made use of it over the weekend, as I know from watching Wimbledon yesterday that there were showers off and on throughout the day..lol. That men's final yesterday was something else. Because it starts at 9am our time (live), they use "Breakfast at Wimbledon" as one of their advertising catchphrases over here. Well, due to the rain delays and length of the match (the longest final ever at Wimbledon), I ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at Wimbledon...lol.

Congrats on being down to 133.something!! I see you in the 120s shortly.

Dev tried some squash in England--some tropical mix that was pretty good. They call it cordial (pronounced cor-dee-ul) in Australia. We can get Robinson's Barley Water over here, and he usually has some of that in stock in lemon and orange.
