Tabitha has a brilliant future
Hi there, it's good to see another Brit on the site.

Your doing ever so well. Keep up the good work, I'm a bit of a fair weather exerciser, but the weather in Yorkshire is normally that miserable I don't think many people would blame me too much!

Tabitha

That is nothing
You can pretty much reckon on 3 hours a day - so that is 3 *7 = 21
Now we are in term time so I have
Mon - keep fit
Tues - yoga
Fri - keep fit
even if you strip out things like meditation and admin and round down we are still left with an hour each so an average week should be 24 hours.

It will only be 23 hours this week as we had no keep fit last fri as term only started today.

In the last challenge there was one week where Kimberly gave the bonus as doing extra exercise. I was more than happy with that bonus.

Hi Tabitha

Thanks for visiting. Being a geordie I know all about bad weather. I was walking up there over Christmas - but am back home now in the outskirts of west London.

The weather is a little warmer than Newcastle - but I still dont think that it warrants it's "sunny south" reputation. I sometimes think that I was lured to the south east under false pretences.

Take care
Best wishes
Margaret

Thank You Margaret,

I was so pleased, I practically danced of the scales! It also means I have lost 10% of my original weight (meaning I get a free week) which is some sort of government initiative I think.
Thank you for you support, I havent felt this excited about loosing weight ever before.

Thank you again!

Exercise is like a part-time job for you! Thanks for replying! I am the same way about having to just avoid temptations all together. I do better with none than some.

I Wanna B Thin

In all honesty - I need the exercise to get what most people consider a normal rate of weight loss. Otherwise the PCOS works against me and I end up losing next to nothing no matter how good I am with counting calories.

I have been there too many times before and done that! It is worth the exercise if it gives me the results that I want.

Angel

Thanks. I am just so determined that we are going to look so good for our birthdays. Isnt it great that Becky has got to her birthday goal early?

(Sung to the tune of the ABBA song Dancing Queen) You are the walking queen, pert and sweet, in the one sixties oh yeah....lol

I wouldn't worry about your weigh in this week. Even if you are up a lb or two, there are lots of other people who have missed a couple of day's bonus pts--that's 4pts each day missed. Not to mention, many people won't get the max. exercise pts available, either. You'll be just fine if your team doesn't come in 1st place. I'm not worried at all about you not being here next week. In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you won the whole thing at the end.

You must go through walking shoes like crazy!!

I am very touched after reading the first few pages of your diary and I see that you are still coping with PCOS which I don't know what that is, but I am fairly amazed at the distances you are walking. I don't work either (on disability for bipolar mood disorder) and so I have the time of day too and walking is my main form of exercise too. These days I am toughing out an hour in the cold rain.

The problem I am having is not making it through the night without eating because I think my calories are a bit too low in the day. Right now I'm 190. One year veteran on the forum. Last year I lost twenty pounds but I've gained back ten.

You sound like such a nice person and I will think of you when the weather here warms up and I can manage a 6 mile walk.

The worst thing about my weight is that my protruding belly is so uncomfortable when I am sitting. Guess Ishould sit up straight.

Thank you so much for visiting. I really love all these words of encouragement.

Kimberly

I am getting sneaky about weighing strategy (see Auburn's diary) so we shall wait and see. Weight (Tuesday) is still up on the challenge start weight. I doubt that someone who gets skewed weight loss will ever win such things - there is always someone that can manage to lose weight EVERY week. If you accept such concepts up front you realise that all you can honestly expect is a respectable showing.

I have worn holes in several pairs of shoes last year and in addition I am always putting holes in socks. I must put holes in at least 4 pairs of socks a week. Luckily quite a lot of my socks are identical so I look for 2 to put together.

Happychubette

Welcome on your first visit to my diary. PCOS ladies have polycystic ovaries. Quite a high proportion of ladies are effectively carriers of this - and for some ladies (like me) it develops into a major problem. A normal woman has so many female hormones and a few male hormones too. PCOS ladies have dramatically more hormones. We have tons of female hormones and then we have tons of male hormones too.

A woman with PCOS is, according to researchers, seven times more likely to develop diabetes than a woman of the same age and lifestyle who does not have the syndrome. She is also now known to be 7.4 more times at risk of a heart attack and four times more likely to suffer from high blood pressure.

There are also cancers where we have increased risk. For many people - the worst aspect is that it often brings fertility problems. In addition there is such things as obesity and a tendency to have hairiness problems. Although I naturally deal with such things - I for instance have a major facial hair problem and also have quite a bit of body hair. Some PCOS ladies also develop baldness problems - but thankfully I have not had that (yet).

I am so sorry that you have gained back 10 pounds of your hard won losses. I have dieted so many times before and each time have put on every ounce that I lost. Well done for remotivating yourself to stop the rot. If these pounds went on recently - they will just be splurge pounds and they seem to come back off very quickly. I would encourage you to ensure that you are fully back on track regarding being careful with your food and lots of exercise. The more walking that you can do - the better. I am sure that things will look brighter very quickly if you do this. This was the case for Tammy.

It is funny that you mention your protruding belly. I have lost a great deal of weight - but still have a long way to go. I have a major stomach roll which I can feel is "fat" and should erode in time. My belly button has dropped with my stomach having been so big. Above my belly button at waist height I stick out almost as far at the front as ever before. I pinch in nicely at the sides and back and then have a bit that sticks out at the centre front. This actually feels hard and not "fat". I do not know whether the muscles are somehow damaged or whether something inside has moved when I was fat. I will mention it to my doctor when I see her next - but I am not filled with confidence in her. It is a bit of a lottery every time I go to the doctor regarding whether she will be of any help.

I must admit that I had been so big - that when I got to the 190 pounds that you are I just kept feeling skinny!

Take care
Love
Margaret

Hi Margaret, I was just reading what you said about a lack of confidence in your GP. Would you not consider changing her, and going to see someone who might be not just more sympathetic to your needs, but also more knowledgable? I know it's not that easy in Britain (it's getting increasingly difficult in France also, but luckily I trust my doc). But you're moving into a crucial stage now, with thoughts about operations to remove extra skin etc. It might be the time to work with a more specialized GP. (Hope you don't think I'm interferring...)
