Red face starryeyed's diary*

Hi everyone!

I introduced myself in the newcomers forum, so now I'm moving on over here to fill out some questions and to hopefully get my wheels set in motion. Here goes...

1. Answer these questions before starting your diary.

-- How much weight do you want to lose?
66lbs

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
I'm giving myself until June- just before the start of summer vacation!

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
I've tried weightwatchers, and I was going to try Herbal Magic, but being a student, I just couldn't afford it. I was close to taking on a 3rd job (that's how desperate I am) but my family said I could do it on my own if I would just try and not always rely on something. So I'm going to give it a go. I'm looking up the Canadian Food Guide, and work out something with that along the line of those who are on Herbal Magic. I'm in a pilates class (which is a really good workout if anyone is wondering) and I'm going to start going back to the gym!

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
I get tons of support from my family. They all want to see me healthy and happy. I'm also hoping to pick up some great tips and advice from people here on the board- that's why I joined. It's good to talk with people who are going through the same thing as me

-- How realistic is your goal?
It's realistic! It's about 2lbs a week, and it's what I got from my consultation at Herbal Magic- so I'm going to stick to it!

-- When will you start?
Tomorrow morning! October 20th, 2007 is the day I begin my new lifestyle. I'm excited and scared, but if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything, right?

Hi there

Came to check out your diary...it's really great to see your positive approach to this. So many people dread changing their lifestyles but you seem genuinely excited about it! That's a really good way to start off and I cannot wait to hear about your progress!

Talking day 1- it begins

Alright! Day 1 is here!
It seems this is giong to take a bit longer to start than anticipated, although not by much. I have set out what I need to accomplish eating each day:

3 Proteins
2 Grains
3 Fruits
4 Veggies
2 Fats
and then I'll have 1 freebie (>100 calories)
& 6-8 glasses of water

I'm also going to take a multivitamin, and I've added an extra fruit and veggie because I'm not including dairy (i'm allergic)

I'm working on a grocery list, and hopefully will be able to stop by the grocery store on my way home. I'm feeling excited still, so cheers to the day!

Talking

hey thanks bigguy, laney, and stacey!

today is going good. So far I've had...

5 glasses of water
1 fruit (banana)
2 veggies (2 servings of potato's)
3 proteins (eggs, veggie dog, chucksteak from work- very sm, piece)
2 grains (bread)

I need to get some more exciting stuff, although I will admit, it seems like I still have a lot of stuff I can eat.
Okay, time for work! I should mention I work at two restaurants, so this is the tricky thing! one place is all about burgers & fries, the other is all about pasta and meat. *sigh* I'll make it through. Gonna throw some stuff in tupperware to carry along with me

ohhhh myyyyy goshhhhh
Ever have one of those horrible days? Last nite was my friends birthday, and as much as I tried to avoid it, I was begged to come out after I got off work. It went downhill from there. I'm trying not to feel bad about it- I shouldn't really. It's one day. And I also need to remember that this isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change (in which I'm going to lose weight ) So as horrible as it is, I'm going to keep up today, eat some extra fruit and veggies to make up for last nite, and toast my happiness with some water- does anyone add lemon to their water? It just tastes so much better! I recommend it for anyone
I do have one accomplishment though- I managed to drink 7 glasses of water yesterday yay me!

Ok, so today is Monday- time to get back on track from the horrible weekend/month that has been October Birthdays. Last friend had her birthday on the weekend, so we are fully clear of Birthday's until December, which of course, is my birthday- a huge party weekend because i will be 21!
Today I'm going to eat a lot of fruit, and drink lots of water. I'll do my workout as well

I have a bunch of stuff to write as well- a paper for school, and I'm working on a few scripts for some films I want to make. I also need to find the episode of Grey's Anatomy that I missed last week cause I'm uber-obsessed and can't believe I missed one episode!

All right! Time to get to the day!

Hi ya sweetie!

about water!

I know whatcha mean! I feel like throwing a party each day I complete 32 oz. or more! I just hate it period.

I'm startin' ta get used to it now.

At wal*mart I found the neatest lil jug with grip handle/sip spout for under $2..

It holds 32 oz. total.. That is helping me so much!

I've already had 32. oz today and I'm still going!

Hope you have a great night!

Okay, I'm gulping down a bottle of water preparing for the long night ahead. It's almost 11pm but unfortunately for me, I have a paper due tomorrow, so I'll be up for awhile longer. I have class at 8:30 in the morning so I won't be able to sleep in and catch up.
I played DDR (dance dance revolution) for half an hour at the mall today and man! did my legs ache afterwards. Felt like a really good workout tho! See, some video games are actually good for you :P
Ok! Time to get started on that paper!
ps- thanks Stacey- good to know I'm not alone about the water drinking! it's so hard when I'm used to gulping down Diet Coke's everyday!

Oh my gosh
It's almost 6 in the morning and my paper isn't finished. I won't lie to you, I wasn't up since I last wrote. I read the essay i'm supposed to be critiquing, then slept for a few hours, woke up (thankfully from my cellphone ringing as my friend was making sure I was up and writing- so sweet) and now I'm trying to get this paper finished.
Anyways... thought I would check in...

damn my friend at work for bringing in donuts. I had one- I couldn't help it. Other than that, I've been doing good. I had a banana and fruit bar for breakfast, and now I'm about to make myself a chicken ceasar salad.
I'm dreadfully tired from last nite, didn't make it to class, woke up at 8:00 (class is ast 8:30 and said, 'oh, i can still make it' and then i fell back to sleep until 10:00. Horrible. Okay, time to down some water and get on my lunch! Maybe I'll go for a nice walk before work

all right, I had a splendid lunch. Considering I pretty much missed out on a proper breakfast, and i'll be missing out on a proper dinner due to work...

Today I've eaten
1 Banana
1 frozen fruit bar
1 donut
2 servings of salad (iceberg with shaved purple cabbage and carrots)
2 servings of "Jane's" sliced chicken breast tossed around in salad with FF creamy ceasar dressing.

3 glasses of water (so far)
yay me!

Okay, so I didn't do that bad today, I'm happy to report. I steered clear away from pop at work. Aside from that 1 donut, and the bread I nibbled on at work, I was fairly happy with myself. So in total, today I ate...

2 Bananas
1 frozen fruit bar
1 donut
2 servings of salad (iceberg with shaved purple cabbage and carrots)
2 servings of "Jane's" sliced chicken breast tossed around in salad with FF creamy ceasar dressing.
1 apple
2 slices of bread (I'll call it Italian bread, cause it the bread we serve at the restaurant)
2 cups of steamed veggies (broccoli, carrots, peas)
1 serving of "Jane's" sliced chicken breast

As well, I drank 8 glasses of water today- woot woot for me

I could get the hang of this...
