Rep Power: 8 | | I went out today and bought a new pair of walking shoes. They feel SO much better than my old ones. I also bought a jump rope, and a set of 3 lb weights and..... a new scale. I'm NOT liking what the new scale says. To be sure it was accurate, I put the 2 - 3 lb weights on it, and it said they were 5.8 lbs....so I guess it's pretty accurate. I also bought a new seat for my exercise bike. The old one hurts so bad!
I'm going to walk another mile in a few min. and do some more exercising.
My sister and I went to lunch today and I had soup and salad.
Ok, I'll write again later. |

Rep Power: 8 | | My new shoes were scrunching my left foot something awful. I had to stop during my walk and check it out. The sock seam was curled under my toe and causing the trouble. It is funny my sister and I were just talking about sock seams when we were out shopping today....lol. For some reason or other I am not able to type an apostrophe. When I hit the key my cursor runs across the screen.
Anyhow, I walked my second mile tonight. I also did ten min on the bike. Unfortunately, the new bike seat I bought will not fit my exercise bike.
When I pulled out the small 3 lbs weights, my dogs thought they were dog bones and it took every thing I had to get them away from them!! LOL
They are kind of shaped like a dog bone, but they are green and heavy for them to carry in their mouths.
It took me 26 min to walk the mile. When I was done, my daughter began to walk her mile. She got to .86 and we smelled burning rubber. Then the treadmill stopped and the digital numbers went blank. UH OH!
I was at Walmart today and I stocked up on Crystal Light. It's much cheaper there than at the grocery store. It has aspartame in it, and I didn't know that. I don't know if I like that or not.
My new digital scale shows your BMI and it will keep track of your weight loss. I just have to figure out how to program it.
And, I think that's it for tonight. |

It seems like you have made some positive changes for the day (well done for those) - but a lot of odd things happened too.
- well done for doing the walking and bike riding. I am sure that it will be doing you good.
- we all hold water about the time of a period. There is nothing wrong with that - you probably can predict about when it will happen and just factor it in when looking at your weight. I check my weight every day - I know that I need to keep an eye on things as I can put on so much weight in a week.
- with scales some people forget that they work best by going on a solid flat surface (better if not on carpet) and it is best to have them in the same place every time.
- it is very annoying about the treadmill having gone wrong. While you wait for it to be repaired you can go out walking like I do. Before I got the pedometer I measured the distance that I was walking using the car tripometer.
- maybe a cushion could help the bike seat while you get one that fits.
- I like my feet to be as comfortable as possible when I walk. I often wear sandals (with socks currently as it is cold). Walking the distances that I do - I sometimes get blisters which hurt too. I take a needle to them and bandage them up with lots of padding. Then I find that I can walk on them fine. Sometimes it is a question of refusing to let a problem get in the way of you getting the result that you want.
- I have no idea about Crystal Light - although I have seen several people say that they get it. It may be worth posing a question on the "harsh truths" section. A very well read person called Steve often gives his spin on things posted there.
- It sounds like both you and the dogs got some extra bonus exercise with the new weights.
- you were good with your food at lunchtime with the meal that you posted.
Take care
Love

Rep Power: 8 | | I weighed myself on the new scale and it said 197. This morning after I woke up, I weighed myself again and it said 194. I guess I'm going to have to adjust my ticker and get over the fact that the new scale added a few lbs. to my weight.
It is a yucky, windy, raining, gloomy, and cold day here. I hope my treadmill will work for my mile. I'm going to take a look under it and see if I can find the problem. If I can't get it to work, then I will walk up and down my street until I hit a mile. I hope that's not the case. In this kind of weather, it will be easy for me to catch a cold.
I didn't realize I had so many problems yesterday until I reread my post. I try not to get little things like that get in my way.
I have no pop in the house, so I think I'm going to try to do without. Starryeyed...I bought 4 pks of Crystal light ( $3.97ea) and I also got one individual pack($2.50ea). I used one when my sister and I went to lunch instead of drinking pop with my lunch. My sister is doing the treadmill too. She is 5'2 and weighs about 155, so she is much smaller than me. It's too bad she lives 45 min from me, or we might could work out together.
I need to get off my butt and walk my one dog. She has a low thyroid and is very overweight. She is on meds, but currently she weighs about 90 lbs. Her top weight was 93 lbs. She eats hardly nothing but she can't lose the weight! I was going to put her on the treadmill like Ceasar Milan does. I wanted her to get used to the sound of it and ok with being near it first so it didn't scare her. Keep your fingers crossed that my treadmill works!!
I've got to leave to pick up my daughter from school. I'll write again later.
Thanks Margaret and Starryeyed |

Try not to focus on the number on the ticker - I for one hit 197 for the first time coming downwards on the 7th October (and was delighted to do so) and 194 I hit on 19th October. These are not numbers that many people here think are particularly big - whilst can fully identify with your desire to reduce. I certainly only record my lowest weight of the day (morning, after toilet and long walk but before eating - if I eat while out I use whichever is lowest from before and after long walk). The main thing is that you have some scales that you can use to monitor whether you are going up or down from this point onwards.
The main thing to think about is not where you have been or even where you are today - but where you plan on being soon and how you are going to make it happen.
It is drizzly and cold here too. I dont have a treadmill so have to take my chances with the winter germs. I take multivitamins and supplements to try to fend off some of the bugs.
It sounds like your dog is really going to reap benefits from your new healthy living regime. You could both get fit together.
Take care
Love

My treadmill is broke! So, I got a leash and took my overweight dog for a walk. I didn't want to kill her on her first time out, so I just walked down the street and up it. I'm on a pretty long street and I don't know the milage, but I'll measure it later.
I'm posting these before photos. I don't feel so bad because I chopped my head off so no one can recognize me. Those were taken on 10 Oct at I guess 197 lbs or somewhere thereabouts. I'm 5'1. I'm going to try to go out again after I drop my daughter off at school. The sun is coming out, so that's a plus.
I guess I'm going to have to buy a new treadmill if my hubby can't fix mine. He won't be home until tomorrow. So, we'll see.
I'll write later. |

Rep Power: 8 | | Well, I called the company that makes my treadmill and they are going to ship out a part to me. At first, I thought it was a blown fuse, so I went to the hardware and bought 2 new fuses at $4 bucks a pop. Brought them both and put the first one in and POP, blew that one immediately, and the same for the second one. Darn! So, I called the co. and they said if these parts don't work then I need to order a different part. There will be at least a 7 to 10 day wait on the first part. Tell me that doesn't suck! I wonder if the Curves that is about 1/2 mile from me has a week guest membership? I can't join a gym because I made my husband put all the workout stuff in the garage, instead of the house. He will be mad if I get to join a gym and he has to work out in the cold gym this winter. haha... I can't blame him, but I don't want all that equipment in my house! I had to wait until he was gone for the week to sneak it out to the garage in the first place. lol and he wasn't thrilled at all. He can't watch tv while he works out because we don't have cable hooked up out there.
I'm gonna give Curves a call. Maybe they do have a month membership. |

Rep Power: 8 | | What the heck? Curves doesn't have treadmills. They don't have exercise bikes either. Does anyone besides me find that odd?
They are going to give me a weeks free membership. I have to go tomorrow and do a workout with the lady. She is going to measure and weigh me.
OMG... all because my treadmill broke! I know I am not going to want to walk outside in the cold and it's gonna be cold and rainy here for the next few days. I wonder if I did 1/2 hour on my exercise bike if it would be the same as a mile workout or close to it?
I'm freaking out because I don't want to break my groove! |

Rep Power: 8 | | I just got back from a 30 min walk. I walked up and down my street. I didn't realize how long my street was until I walked it... I'm going to go out with my car in a few to see what the distance is. I live on a old country road and I was surprised to see two cop cars stop in front of a house across the street from me and then handcuff the man that was in the house. On my way back past the house, two cop cars and then two ambulances. I hope no one got hurt. They're still out there now. I hate to, but I have to go back out.
Yea, it was a bit windy, but the earphones cut down on the wind in my ears, so it wasn't that bad. I'm anxious to see how far I went.
And on that note, I'm outta here. |

Rep Power: 8 | | I drove my car from one end of the street to the other and my street is exactly 1 mile long. My house sits exactly on the half mile mark. That makes it easy to measure.
So, I guess I walked a tad bit over 2 miles today. Not bad!
I'm dead tired, so as soon as I finish cleaning the kitchen I'm gonna watch some tv and go to bed. Hubby will be home tomorrow. |

I havent sorted out how to put up photos yet. I tried but it got rejected because it was too big. I have very few photos as I have hated having my photos taken for a very long time. I will have to try to attach one again sometime.
Well done for sorting out a way that you can continue your exercise regime even when your treadmill is broken. I am pleased that you didnt break the regime when it got difficult. I always feel good about the day when I have got my first walk in - I kind of feel that whatever happens in the way of food later I cannot really think of the day as being negative for the project.
I am surprised that the gym has not got treadmills. I would have thought that they all would.
It is handy that your road is exactly a mile long. It makes it quite easy to work out how far you have walked. At least when you walk outside there is no concern as to whether the dog will be happy with the noise (as on the treadmill) and she will certainly enjoy and benefit from the exercise. If only the weather was better it would almost make a positive out of your treadmill being temporarily out of action.
There is something quite satisfying about walking until you feel physically tired. I am sure that you will have enjoyed the rest more.
You will be looking forward to your husband returning home. I am sure that he will be impressed when he sees how motivated you are towards your project.
Take care
Love

For some reason, I couldn't sleep last night. I think I was over tired and got a second wind or something.
I weighed myself this morning and the scale said 194. I know I'm holding water, so hopefully after this week passes, it will come off and I'll see a bit of weight loss.
I've got that appointment with Curves today and I'm so tempted to cancel it. I know they are going to do everything they can to talk me into a year membership. I think the big deal breaker was no treadmills or bikes. I get real defensive when someone tries to sell me something when I don't want it.
Margaret, does it snow a lot where you live? I was thinking about that last night on my walk. I usually see several people walking my street per day, but when winter/snow comes I don't see any of them. I live in Michigan and it gets COLD here, and sometimes we get a lot of snow. I can't imagine walking in the snow and really cold weather.
I found a treadmill on craigslist for $200. I think we might get it. I hate to buy a brand new one--and I really hate to buy another one period, but I have a feeling mine isn't going to get fixed even with the new parts coming. My husband is leaning toward us getting another one because he doesn't want me to get out of the habit of walking, now that I'm actually using the treadmill. So, we'll see.
The hotel he is staying at has a gym and he tells me there's this one ab machine that he loves. He wants me to look around and find one to buy. I'm not too keen on that idea. We have enough machines! It's a big machine and my garage is already full.
Ok, I gotta run and pick up my daughter from school. I don't have to take her to cosmetology school today, but I have to pick her up at 4:30. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
