Thumbs up 6 Miles

I ran/walked 6.3 miles today in 1 hour 26 mins & 20 seconds. That makes 13:45 Seconds per mile (approx.) Pretty darn good since I'm trying to keep my 4 miles under 15 minutes per mile.

Bad news, I went over my calries today had 2,000 calories.

Thumbs up

I've had a couple of good days. Stayed within my calories. Did my 4 miles in 49:02 today. Did not run yesterday, since I ran so far & fast on Monday.

I weigh myself everyday. I have only lost 1/4 of a pound in the last four days, that stinks. Thats why they say (I wish I new who they are) weigh once a week, because of how your weight fluctuates. Its just I have not had 4 days like this since I started. So I quit.

Man, I have a run of days like that all the time. Ill lose every day for 4-5 days, then Ill just stop losing....Ill still be doing good and exercising but..... nothing, Ill get all discouraged and think that I hit bottom, then BAM, Ill lose 2 lbs in one day and keep losing for another week...then stop again. I keep a running chart in Excel of my daily (lowest) weights. It looks like a staircase. but I always start losing again. You body will not stay the same if you are in a calorie deficit. It is against the laws of physics man...something like the first law of thermo-dynamics (or second...cant remember) The point is you will keep losing, your body cant just not use energy if its using energy (i.e...being alive). You are probibly retaining water. Cut back on your sodium and Ill bet youll shed a lb or 2. Keep it up.

Chip, when you say you quit, do you mean you going to stop eating right and trying to lose weight? Or do you mean you're not going to weigh yourself everyday? I hope you don't quit exercising you're doing great. I'd like to go running out of school someday but I don't care for treadmills and I'd be embarrassed to run down a street. So I need to find a place where no one would be, then I could run for a while.

moabnut, I know that is how it will be. Because I've only had a streak of
2 days of not losing anything, then dropping 2-3 Lbs. Not 4
days, like now. Actually when I do have a couple days all of a
sudden a drop of 2 lbs. is probably more than I would have lost
other wise.

Ocire, I was saying I was quiting my diet & exercise. I was just kidding
though. Guess what I run right in public. If anyone has a problem
the beep beep with them. I want health, more than what
someone may think of me. I've had people (when I'm not running)
say aren't you the one thats always walking or running down the
street. I proudly say yes. They say you are looking great. I
like that, but I could not care if they insulted me. Even though
that has not been the case.

I just barely had a streak of about 4 days losing very little, I was really getting upset, but then I weighed myself on the fifth day and I had dropped 5 frickin lbs. right to my goal for the end of this month! I hadnt had a drop like that since the first few days of this diet. I didnt believe it, I figured I was dehydrated, so I drank more and just watched, but I stayed there. I had cut down on the amount of beef jerky (sodium, thats why I suggested it) that I was eating....I figure thats what did it. Though I just went and got more jerky cause I just started Atkins for the next week or so. Anyway, keep plugging along, I know you feel like a million bucks to be where you are as opposed to 309 lbs. Man Chip, your screaming. 2 weeks and you will be in the 210's Im 2 or 3 weeks behind you but you seem to lose at about the same rate as me. 220's are not a bad place to be. 210's even better. You will be hitting 10 min miles all day long in no time. Just curious, when was the last time you were 260? That is my ultimate goal, but 280 would be awesome so I made that my true goal. I remember being 165 for a brief period when I was 16. Ive been close to 160s (175) since but only briefly. 160 would be definable as skinny. That would be awsome. I hope to meet you there!

Thumbs up 2 miles

moabnut, The last time I was 160 Lbs. I was in my early 20's I'm now 47. Everyone says thats to light. But I want to run Marathons & Ultra Marathons 100 miles. At least one of each. If I don't like it I will at least have done one. Your right we are very similar in our weight loss.

On Feb. 13 I tried to run 2 miles in 20 Min's. I only made it 1/2 mile. I tried again today & I made it. 2 miles in 19 Min's. & 45 Secs.

Thumbs up Im now a runner!!

I'm now a runner, no longer a walker/runner just a runner. I thinking also of upping my mileage to 4.5 miles or maybe 5.0 miles. I ran my 4 miles today in 48:38. I stayed within my calories. Not that it was hard I was out with clients all day & they did not want to eat anything. For dinner I had two burritos with all this healthy stuff in them, very interesting, not bad but not great. I'd have them again. I think of all the things I eat now and it makes me cringe.

The Blahs

Been doing OK, but I just have the blahs, don't feel like dieting. Stayed within my calories yesterday & today. Did my run yesterday, only 2 miles. Today ran my 4 miles. Tomorrow I don't think I will be running, it should be raining so I will use it as a day off.

What do you guys do when you just don't want to be dieting?

I just realized that I said that 280 (not 180) was my goal in my reply to you...cool, I made that a long time ago, I guess I was shooting to gain enough weight that I could be a 100 lbs loser! Ultra marathon hu? WOW, thats hardcore. I thought my goal of a marathon was hi. I dont think that 160 is too low. It is low though. If you really go through with this running thing you may find yourself thinner than that. True runners have never been known for their healthy looks.

Do you ever really want to be dieting? You can change up your foods a little to make it seem more exciting. Sometimes Ill have a 300 Cal Subway sub with tons of veggies. That makes me feel better. If you push through it you always feel better in the end...as Im sure you are fully aware
