Red face

So today I decided to just do my normal eating/normal exercise and journal it, so i can see patterns. I of course with about 90 billion other people am going to start my true new eating habits on 1/2/2008. Until then, these are the tiny changes I am going to make....I am going to drink more water and journal everything i stick in my mouth..(that doesnt sound good does it)...

Now if the honesty of my current journaling doesnt wake me up and kick me in the round fleshy part of my dierierre..(spelling?) then I have NO hope...

so here goes...this is not for the faint at heart.....

Breakfast (all leftovers from a nice christmas breakfast i prepared for my family and for my clogged arteries)

1 buiscuit
1 cinnamon bun
1 slice of breakfast strata about 2 x 2 inches big....

Lunch
1 cup tomato soup
a spinach salad with homemade french dressing
a yogurt
2 ounces of cheese
2 ounces of summer sausage
1 tiny (itsy bitsy) donut that someone offered me...

Water today so far 24 ounces...

I am so bloated from my christmas ham that i cant wear my wedding ring today........

Better honesty than dishonesty! I personally find that I tend to eat less than I otherwise would if I know I have to write it down - even if I'm the only one who ever sees the writing.

Some people do see a big scale loss when they first start eating more healthily, most of which is water weight loss. AFAIK, there's no way (healthy or otherwise) to either guarantee water weight loss or to have a significant initial loss of anything but water. Sad but true - it took several weeks of healthy eating before I saw any scale loss at all. On the upside, once I did start losing, I haven't hit any of the plateaus that plague some people (knock on wood).

Tiny changes you stick with are much better in the long run than drastic changes you don't stick with.

So yesterday after my lunch

I had some popcorn in the afternoon and then my hubby and i decided to go to the store and buy fabric so my dtr could make a blanket (fleece) for one of our friends...we went and had bar burgers and a few beers after. Boy did I pay for that...I was up with acid reflux all night. I never eat bar burgers/fries because its too heavy but I am being gluttonous I guess because I am going to revert to healthy eating here soon. It sounds stupid to wait kind of...so for lunch today I brought a spinach salad and a little leftover stuff from Christmas dinner.....

I am having a few problems with my one foot, I bought new shoes (tennis and casual) for better support...and I figure skate so it may be the pressure my skates have on my soles/insteps...but its a pain from the back of the heel around my foot to the little toe...it isnt consistant but is more predominent when i walk alot or exercise....my trainer has me walking 30 minutes on treadmill and sometimes doing jumping jacks or stepping up on the bosu (balancing)...I think this agrivates it and I am going to have to talk to her about it. Its my left foot.

By figure skating, I mean I coach which means I get little aerobic exercise out of it, and my weight is really affecting my coaching. This is my last year as I am hanging up my skates in May (I am 44)....its time. My youngest graduated and my oldest died in April (at age 19) and we spent so much time together its almost too painful to be there at the rink..I coached them both,

anyway, enough about that

anyone who can give me advice on lowcal snacks to keep me full i would appreciate it. its a big problem for me...staying satisfied.....its almost like i have an addiction..which i probably do..

Thanks Amber

I have thought of that. Also I bought some legumes to make a nice soup.

Last night we had chinese and this morning I am having oatmeal with apples/cinnamon. Its actually pretty good.

I have the weekend to myself as my hubby is going hunting so I will be on my own. I am going to do my bean/legume soup and maybe have a few glasses of wine over the next few days because alcohol is somethign I will totally cut out on Tuesday.

So today I vow to drink lotsowater

baby steps...baby steps

i have been giving myself, self affirmations to about dieting every day and every night. Kind of like "the secret"...also saying these little prayers about giving me strenght to overcome the first few weeks of detox from the breads/taters and stuff like that...oh and diet pepsi. I have been reading how diet pop may make you gain weight. I drink about 1 to 2 a day.

bgmgc is on a distinguished road
When im getting ready to kick start my diet i find a low sodium vegetable/fruit juice and drink several small servings (four 4 oz ervings oz) throughout the course of a day while also drinking a lot of water and hot lemon water. Soup also works well if the juice isnt satisfying enough. It really helps if you have a lot of water weight on you.

I dont know about you but the problem i always have with dieting is portioning and timing. I have a bad habit about not eating in the morning before work, or not taking time to eat on my lunch break, so when i get home im starving. By the end of the night i end up ravaging my fridge.

So on my days off i started buying healthier foods and portioning them out in small snack size baggies so i can go in the kitchen and grab a snack whenever i need one without having to worry if im eating too much or the wrong foods. Lately i have been addicted to cucumber slices with a tbs of plain yogurt. The yogurt hits the spot for me.

I also made my husband get rid of all of his junk food except for a small mini fridge he keeps in the garage. I figure this way it is out of sight and out of mind.

I'm really excited to get myself back in shape. Good luck everyone!!!

oh so..today i ate 4 cookies for breakfast

last night i had a chicken breast w/bbq sauce and a few glasses of wine

i am taking down the christmas tree and decorations. i didnt decorate alot this year because of it being the first year without my dtr who died in april. but i did want to make it festive for my youngest who is 17 and her friends.

so i am sweating alot taking down these decorations and i think before i take my shower i am going to kickbox and lift some weights...again not too crazy about the diet thing today..just eating what i normally eat (not that i normally eat 4 cookies for breakfast)...i am going to throw the rest out.

i feel so bloated and icky ..i know if i even lose 10 pounds and get the bloated feeling out of my tummy i will feel better. i also know the wine doesnt help. I also get the munchies when I drink so after Jan 1st that is done.

I know that i will feel younger and better if i lose weight..i just know it. I dont even feel right stepping on the ice in my skates right now.....part of it is weight, part of it is losing practice. Even though I am out there on the ice several times a week.

I made some bean/legume soup and I am going to munch on that today...nobody is home (kid scorekeeping hockey, hubby hunting) so I can do and eat whatever i want.

I really need to get to the root of my poor eating habits...hopefully this journal will help.

As I was eating the 4 cookies this morning I knew it was bad, but i just did it...why didnt i make a couple of eggs, I am not sure....I just ate them and it was done, but not overwith...ya know cuz now I am thinking about it.

So i am going to get the tree put up (its in its box) and make myself a nice decent lunch and then kickbox/lift and take a shower.................

Hi Karebare,
First I am sorry for your loss of your oldest, expressing how you feel in your diary will help you along! I do have a few suggestions on healthy snacks that might keep you fill, try a handful of Almonds, a small bowl of oatmeal(which I see you have already), apples have a lot of fiber in them and will fill you up, also strawberries. I know how hard it is to stop drinking soda! I love diet Sierra Mist and diet Pepsi, try adding flavor to your water and put ice in it. I have been drinking lemon water, but you could add lime. orange slices, or dilute your favorite juice. I dilute cranberry juice for a treat. Hope this helps! Your doing great, baby steps!!

I really enjoy Crystal Light Iced Tea and Pink Lemonade....I am trying that

I read "partially" YOU ON A DIET..and it listed a handful of almonds as a snack too..which I LOVE...but they get pricey. Maybe there are some sales on them after the holidays as alot of the grocery stores have alot of nuts for cookies etc.

I just did about 1/2 hour kickboxing intervals with weights..mainly arms/shoulders since I am having foot/knee probs. last time i did legs I didnt walk well for awhile

Thanks evee...re: my oldest. She was killed in a automobile accident in april. She and her friend went to Canada to drink and on the way home her friend fell asleep at the wheel. I have gained about 15 pounds since then....and I couldnt afford to gain at that time either....its been a wierd 8 months...I cant even describe my feelings. But I am a stong woman and i know in my heart she is in a better place. Her friend pled guilty to negligent homicide in September. We worked with the prosecutor to get the judge NOT to give her jail time but to get 3 years of intensive community service. It will not be easy for her.

I was asked if I was angry and I say no...but I am a little, I guess. Angry at both of them because I used to tell them that it was stupid to party in another country and drive home. I miss my daughter with all my heart...oh she was beautiful ...so beautiful....I think God didnt want her to get old and he put her here to teach us lessons that we werent learning on our own. Alot of people (her friends) no longer go out without a designated driver...and so it has saved someone somewhere...but i still miss her..

wow enough about that and me

I am coloring my hair right now and going to run to the cemetary and then to the healthfood store to get some protien shake mix.....I think that I remember Metroplex was pretty good.

I havent had much water today..unless you can count crystal light which i think you can....

Hi Karebare,
Sounds like you had a busy day! I believe Crystal Light counts as water. The only drinks that would not, I know people disagree here, would be soda, coffee, etc. This is what I was told. Crystal Light has almost no calories, and would be a great water drink in my opinion. Have a great night!
