PCOS and ready to lose weight

I am 32 years old and current weigh 197lbs. My height is 5 ft 6 inches.

I have decided that I am ready to lose my excess weight and aiming at 155 lbs in my first leg of this race.

My goal is to lose 3 lbs per week, therefore by

May 31st I should weigh 176 lbs,

June 28th I should weigh 164 lbs,

July 19th I should weigh 155 lbs.

If I lose more than 3 lbs a week I am happy but I want to lose it slow and keep it off.

My approach to weight loss is diet and exercise as I realise there is no easy way out.

Diet - I am try to use less carbs and fat. I will use more whole grain products.
Fresh fruits will be encorporated in my diet and limitations or maybe no SNACKS. That is my hardest part, I loveeee cookies and chips.
I am trying to do minimal potato as well.
Of course no SODA. I heard Green Tea is good for losing weight so I will try to drink a cup or two daily.

A typical day should consist of any of the following but not all:

BREAKFAST
Whole Wheat Pita Bread
Steamed Vegetables
Oatmeal with fresh fruit

LUNCH
Soup or Salad
Fruits
White Meat only or Fish
1 cup brown rice

DINNER
Whole Wheat pita bread
Vegetables
White meat or fish
Fruits
Salad

When I eat out, I will try to limit my carbs.

Vitamins: B-Complex

EXERCISE : I live on a very steep hill which I will try to walk up at least 3 days per week.

Hi! Welcome to your WL diary - and your healthy new life!

I also have PCOS. I am 38 yrs old and 5'4". I started my WL journey at 211 lbs and am currently hovering between 157 and 158. It feels so good! I go in and get tested every 3 months to see if there has been any change in my hormonal status with losing the weight.

Having a firm plan in place is the first step for losing. Have you checked to see what your optimum caloric intake should be daily in order to be losing weight? Also be sure to make daily exercise a priority!

Best wishes on your journey
ABBA

Thanks for visiting my diary.

In my experience - exercise (particularly walking) is vitally important for PCOS ladies. I wish you every success with your project.

Best wishes
Margaret

new diet plan

i have restarted my diet under the advice of a weight mgt clinic.

For the 1st 2 months all I am allowed are green leafy veggies with any spices or flavourings, and plenty water or diet coke.
no meat, no sugar, no flour, no rice or any sort of carbs which includes no fruit juices and fruits. Absolutely No Oil

Carbs will be gently introduces as i progress.

Day One (yesterday)

I had mostly salad made from cucumbers lettuce and tomatoes.
Steamed Patchoi and Vegetable Soup without noodles.

Date Two (today)

Salads with Watercress, Cucumbers and Sweet Peppers.
Also I had some Roasted tomatoes and steamed patchoi

I am feel great, energised and not hungry as the dietician has given me some capsules to curb my appitite.

I really plan to stick to this diet cause the Clinic fee is very costly so I have to get my money's worth.

I would be inclined to feed the data on what you eat through FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal as that diet seems to me to be deficient in many areas that you need nutrients. I would find it very difficult to stick to such a regime - and am not convinced that it is the healthiest of diets. Is it worth asking you doctor what he thinks of that diet?

It would appear to be based around the capsules and a very low calorie approach - and I would be inclined to read up about that approach from an independant source (obviously the organisation peddling it is going to say that it is healthy!).

Just because something is expensive - doesnt mean that it is healthy or worth what you pay. Some people attach value to advice just because they pay a lot for it. All areas of business have people that want to rip off their customers. If you do lose weight - what is the maintenance plan for keeping it off over the long term?

I hope that my message does not appear unduly negative - but would hate for you to pay a lot of money for something that may not benefit your health over the long term. I just want to be sure that you are making an informed decision.

Good luck with your weightloss and weight management - however you choose to go about.
