Wow you have done loads of exercise!! Keep it up
The gain is most probably muscle if you are doing all that exercise, and if the tape measure says that you've lost then I think that is a more reliable means of measuring anyway rather than the scale!
Good luck for the following week
Food - Really good. Went to go see a friend's band play and ended up having 3 whiskies and soda water plus a tequila shot... not so bad compared to the things I would have drank before! I only got in about 20g fibre, but I figure as long as I have enough on alternating days then I should be fine. I just really like the feeling of being regular (excuse me if this is overshare!)
Exercise - As I said, we were going to a friend's band... I planned on gym after work, then decided against it, thinking I'll do stuff at home coz all I needed to do yesterday was lower bodyexercises. Then I was at home for a while and then... suddenly I didn't feel up to it anymore. My brother knew I wanted to exercise and so he kicked my ass and I decided to do some leg exercises anyway. Did like 4 or 5 different moves, 3 sets of 12 each. I was worried it wasn't enough, but feeling it in my legs today tells me otherwise! Yay!
I drank all my water, got in enough fruit and veg, and stayed within my caloric range.
So, Day 1 and 2 of my "mega boost to my lifestyle" plan were successful! On to day 3!
Well, I survived a work party full of doughnuts, chocolate covered this and that smothered in cocomut oat cookies more chocolate aaaaa!
As I was saying, I survived it. I had a little thingy with almond and sugar brittle dipped in chocolate, and it fits into my plan for the day. It was delicious
Guilt free indulgences, the only kind you should have
So, off to belly dancing now now, and then to my boyfriend's place. What I'm hoping is that he comes home late from work so I can fit in a run... I still need to get in two more by Sunday, and weekends are not my best
Aaaanyway, life's good, people are great, frikkin happy happy hyper Anke here.
Great job eating only that one thing at the party. Belly dancing sounds awesome. I love doing ballet and strength exercises. I have to fight the cardio lol. Hope you got your run in last night and that you have a good day today.
Hey Anke,
thank you for saying I am your inspiration, made me feel pretty special (and helps me work harder because I wouldn't want to lose that special place in your heart !).
I started running 1 k, then walking, then running 1 k, then walking. Now I am up to 4 k no walking and tomorrow I am hoping I can do 5 k no walking. I need to be able to do 5 k for the marathon I run in 4 weeks!
I am also a dancer. I danced throughout high school (ballet, jazz, tap) and I adore contemporary ballet. I don't dance this year because I am selfconscious of my body, but might take a class again after I come back from new york.
I love the control of the body dancers have (and I unfortunately lack!), I used to be quite flexible, but have lost it all as I gained the pounds.
This past week has been my best exercise wise. Also got in almost enough fiber each day. I can't wait to weigh in on Tuesday... I'm on PMS though, but thinking of taking half a water-retention diuretic pill tues morning... weigh in's in the evening. So I reckon that lets me know exactly where I'm at.
I want to try get some ground psyllium seeds or flax seeds to help get some more fiber in from cereals and yogurt and stuff... like, sprinkle it over.
Sorry my writing is a bit haphazard tonight, I'm tired! I'm going to a 7am Monday morning yoga class tomorrow... and she works us pretty hard!
I'm new and I've just read your diary, well done for doing so much excercise! I used to dance too (Ballet, jazz, modern and tap) but stopped when most people in my class begun to start auditioning for stage schools. Good luck with your weight loss!
Yeah, I'm getting strangely addicted to this exercise thing... there are still days when I'd rather not be doing anything, but for the most part exercise has become a part of my lifestyle.
Jeez, I sound like such a health nut... listen to me!
I decided to stop on by and read through your diary since you have been so kind and kept up with mine. Please allow me to say that your optimism and cheerful disposition are inspirations. You know your goal and how to get there, and despite a set back or two you stick to it and still retain that mind set.
You're highly motivated to incorporate all of those contests/challenges. You've done a great job so far.
My main problem in losing weight was the "all or nothing" mindset... I would start, then I would veer off the plan somewhere, and then I'd give up, thinking I'm such a failure and that it's all messed up and I may as well throw it out the window.
When I really started to get serious about losing weight, I realised the common denominator in all of the journeys/ diaries I was reading was that after a gain, they came back. So I had it in my head from the start of my journey that there is no giving up, no matter how badly things go wrong. That would be the true failure, to not even give myself the oppurtunity to keep trying!
Anyway, had a great weekend... did some running, dancing and weight training, felt great!
I went to a 7am yoga class this morning, wow, that was intense! I'll go do a run and full bodystrength training tonight. My damn scooter (moped) is in for repairs... I really need a new one, so I'm thinking of getting this REAL motorbike soon... will post pics some time
Wow 2.2 pounds is amazing!!! I wish I lost that much over the past month! (with some luck by Friday I will have finally lost 2 pounds since... well a LONG time ago!)
It is in a way the reward for starting off bigger I guess... my first pounds just fell off me and then at some point my body was like "excuse me, I am ok where I am my dear!"
Though I gotta say it surely didn't help that I didn't do any exercise for ages (or just like 20 mins here and there).
Are you regular in your TOMs? I used to be fine, 35 day cycles (which is long-ish but ok), then went on my thyroid meds 2 months ago and now not only do I have stronger PMS but I really don;t know when my period should come. I started with PMS about a week before 28 days, so I was sure 28 days it would be... well today is day 35 I think and still nothing, albeit the PMS has calmed down (or maybe it is just that the man is away and nobody bugs me the way he does).
I want a baby really badly, but I want to wait til after africa for the baby (I am young enough to wait a couple more years and the man is definitely no-where near the baby moment yet). Also I want to get to my perfect weight and see how it feels down there for a while before I let pregnancy destroy all the work I have been doing!
My initial reason to slim down (and this will sound sad) was so that I can be a cute pregnant lady... I want to be one of those that have a huge belly, but are small otherwise. I know I can't control where my body will pile on the pounds during pregnancy, but if I am skinny to begin with it gives me a head start I guess!
OK gotta go swimming otherwise my day won't work out (too many plans and the stupid day only has 24 hours... AGAIN!), Camy
Congrats on your loss. I am going to step on the scale tomorrow (along with taking my measurements) and I pray to see a downward shift. I just finished my TOM. Hopefully my water weight will have disappeared. I bloat an inch or more, ick.
Thank you guys for your congratulations Deidre and Camy!

I'm on the pill, so that keeps mine at exactly 28 days... without the pill my cycle is about 30 days give or take.

I generally take half a water retention pill the day I have to go weigh if I'm bloated. You can get them on prescription from you doctor... Just explain how uncomfortable and lethargic the bloating makes you feel every month.
Oh, and I also lost 2 centimetres around my waist in the last week, woohoo!!!!
