| | | Hello Ankebuzz, I was just wondering at about what your starting runs were like when you first began?
WoW I can't wait till I can reach a goal of running a good 10k/day, I am working on my pacing, as I tend to sprint first off, and have to remember to slow it down if I want to go longer and further.
Anyways just wanted to pop in and learn a bit aboutcha!!

Hehe, I've only been running seriously since january... my times are still really slow!
I run 5km in 40 mins. So it's like 8mins per km.
I run 10km in 1hr 15mins (5mins faster than my 5km x2... must be the rhythm I get into on a longer run!)
You may have heard of people running 12 minute miles (average). 9 minute miles are people who've trained themselves up to be a bit faster. I am currently doing just under 13 minute miles.
I still find runs hard. I am doing my best to turn it into an addiction... working well so far
Right now I am focusing on distance, that is running more and for longer. I want to do this until I run my first marathon (42.2km). Then I'll start incorporating speed workouts and tweaking my performance.
I do feel a need to play with my numbers though, so I have decided upon a certain stretch of road in my neighbourhood that is half a km long. I will run down and up it once a week doing repeats with rests in between. I will be timing these and trying to improve them each week.
How about you?? |

Rep Power: 19 | | Hehe, just looked at my post again and it seems like I do a lot more running than I actually do!
I have been averaging 2 runs a week the past 4 weeks... not so good! Anyway, it's all about sticking with it!!! |

Rep Power: 9 | | | Cool on the running. I never really liked it even in my college football days. But I think if I can knock off about 10 more lb I will be ready to try a bit of jogging. One of my new goals is to run (perhaps chug is a better word than run) 1 mile without walking. I am not quite ready for this yet but I am tearing up my stationary bike. Keep on going girl! your doin good. |

Rep Power: 19 | | | Hehe, awww, thanks guys! I really never thought I'd be a "runner", heehee. So cool.
On Sunday morning early I was off to my 15km race (which I felt wholly unprepared for as I had been skipping my training but for 2 runs in the 2 weeks leading up to this 15km race.
Anyway, seems my legs liked the rest they got, coz they ran me through that course faster than I've run in a race before!!! I did the 15km in 01:47. My usual pace is 7:36mins per km, and this race I ran 7:08mins per km.
WOOOOO!!!! |

The half-marathon I have been training for is not happening (Well, IT is, I'm just not running it).
This is because we (my boyfriend and I) got the opportunity to go away for a 3 day weekend to Mozambique (beach, tropical climate). WOOOO!!!! It's my boyfriend's birthday on Sunday, so that's why we're going.
Before you think I'm ditching running, noooo no no. I have signed up for a 25km race on the 9th of May, eeee! I had another option of a half-marathon that weekend (21.1km), but the time limit for that is 3 hours (I'd be cutting it close with my estimated time being 2 hours 50 mins), so I'll be doing the 25km in a 4hour cut off time (I predict my time to be 3 hours 20mins).
So yep, still staying healthy and fit... just smoking too much.... not cigarettes. It doesn't really bother me though... but it does, I'm not sure... I should totally try going without for a while. But why? |

| | | | haha Wha?? You say you smoke up? Is that it? Yea I wonder where you could be if your bod didn't do that...I mean look at you now!!! Bloody Brilliant! Good for you on the 15k! Do post about your trip, My dad's B-day is this Sunday too, the 3. I was thinking of taking him to see Disney Planet. I think he would really enjoy, he does pick out baby movies for us to go see now so....(and that one really isn't a baby movie) |

Rep Power: 19 | | Hehe, yep. Well I guess I'll find out what I'm capable of pretty soon... I will be taking a break from smoking (haven't decided when yet) but maybe from Monday (ehehehe) until my birthday party on the 23rd of May? Hmmm, maybe I'll cut out drinking for that period too... would really help to keep my cals down and have a good loss before then.
Oh, and I have run stoned... Pretty hectic, but once it started wearing off I was REALLY tired!
I woke up at 5:30 to run for the first time in WEEKS!!! Trust me, I have tried a few times, and miserably failed (winter's coming this side of the world). But I did it! 8km in just over an hour |

Well, I am reading blogs at the mo (running and healthy living blogs) and it seems two young people have died in the last week and their stories and lives so beautifully chronicled in these blogs and others. I have been reading and crying and really just appreciating life. Phew, but now it's enough of death for a while
I'm alone at the office today... pretty boring, but at least I can do whatever I want. Going to do some filing. Oh, and I have this weird tight/soreness in my upper back. It hurts when I lift things heavier than a glass of water. Going to the chiropractor just now. I have never been to one before, so quite excited! (am I weird??). Only been to physiotherapists before.
Anyway, almost time to go away for the weekend to the beach, whoop whoop!!!! |

Rep Power: 19 | | Wow, what a different the chiropractor made! But it's just short term pain relief while I work on my posture, and some strength training to rectify my natural imbalances. I'm going back on the 11th to get a "rehab program" hehehehe. Cool.
I ate a pepper steak pie (hmmm, crispy pastry and delish!!!) - something I only do once in a while. It was great! I also bought myself cigarettes for the first time in over 6 months just a box of 10, but still.
I don't know what to do, I really like smoking, but know it is bad for my health!!!
Anyway, I won't be stressing too much about food and drink this weekend, my only goal is to run on the beach in Mozambique. We're going to a place called Xai Xai
Ok, bye now everybody! Hope you all have a wonderfull weekend (and yes, tomorrow is a public holiday in South Africa, so my weekend is a long one!!!) | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
