We do okra big time in Texas but its only good fried! Dont let anyone try and serve it to ya boiled that is a slimy mess!
Hooray for you for trying to get off the cigs. Here is a little mental support for staying off em ( Imight have metioned this before i did on somebodys thread but I dont remember where) Add up what you used to spend on cigs for a month and then a year. See how much you saved yourself! Take that months amount and buy something for yourself like anew outfit! |

Thanks for your comments in my absence, and yes, I had a lovely birthday WEEK!
Hmmm, the best present so far was from my best friend who got us matching rings with our names engraved along the inside, AWESOME!!!
I have been off the forum for about as long as I have been off running since my birthday!
Anyway, keeping up with early morning mini-strength workouts now (new baby step habit). Want to ease myself back in... do it because I want to... I think I lost that a bit in the last while... I forgot why I was running.
Anyway, time to re-evaluate. Things are smoother at work, in that I can now perform all my tasks easily and enjoy them... but the company is probably closing down, they don't know if they can pay us end of month.
SO: jobhunting again. Is it just me or is it one of the most frustrating, tiring, drawn out things to do. Humph, don't wanna!
So I'm floating a bit when it comes to my life right now... and I know things will be changing up drastically again soon (new job, new challenges) so I'm a little excited about that, but really just enjoying chilling right now while I can... I like going with the flow if you noticed! But I also enjoy the sense of peace I have when everything's IN MY CONTROL (but then I become too control freakish) so I'm trying to balance the 2.
I have been reading many blogs lately (mainly healthy living, exercise and young women's lives blogs)... There is some SERIOUSLY AMAZING STUFF out there guys... the people, the articles... following somebody's blog is a little addictive though, so that's another reason why I have forumed less... just been reading interesting articles all the time (not that the people here's posts aren't interesting, but articles with topics and comments at the bottom, love it! Oh, I don't comment, I only read. I think I'm called a lurker? What you are on this forum thil you get sucked in!
Whoa, talk about verbal diarhoea!! Sorry guys, it's been a while... just making sure you're all up to date with my OH SO EXCITING life
Bye now! |

Rep Power: 19 | | hehehehe, no, not the whale!
Okra is a green vegetable... like stalks of celery like stuff...
Well foodwise my weekend was all over the place unhealthy and over the top.
Today I am back to actually weighing myself regularly (so I can't be in denial! haha)
I decided to eat well for a while now... not too much, not too little, good choices. Will keep weighing at least once weekly to track my progress. Also want to do my workouts again, much happier then.
Oh, I fell off the wake up at 6:30 wagon this morning, but back to it on Wednesday! (Tuesday's youth day, a publiuc holiday here).
Later people. |

Rep Power: 19 | | Hehe, I am here to teach you great things, grasshopper!
Ok, folks. Confession time:
I am sabotaging myself ridiculously... my stomach seems like ablack hole that can't be filled. I'm not motivated to make healthy meals, so the less nutrient rich "whatever is there" food is really having an effect on my overall wellbeing... I am craving more refined, sugary, fatty foods, the more I eat them. Well, DUH!!!
And then I go and make fudge... SERIOUSLY girl??? It's like I'm two different people: Anke 1: I am a runner. I love eating whole foods to fuel my body well for my daily exercise. I am passionate about life and all the opportunities awaiting me. I am organised and tidy up around me as I go. I do SELF-CARING things, such as grooming (do my nails, dye my hair, pluck my eyebrows), drinking herbal teas, doing stretches and breathing deeply often. Anke 2: I love the couch. It doesn't really matter that there's nothing on, I just sat down and can't seem to lift my butt. I feel depressed about all the goals I am not busy working towards, and wonder why I set such "lofty" goals, as I could NEVER accomplish them. My boyfriend tells me that his matress was just fine before we started sleeping together... there is seriously a HUGE indent where my ass lies... no really... and I was informed that UNLESS I LOSE WEIGHT we'll have to buy a high quality (read: expensive) bed later this year when we plan to buy one. Ok, check. I'm the girl who eats a bowl full of ice cream with chocolate fudge in it (after already capping the daily calorie limit) after being told I need to lose weight. I don't wanna hear it! I want to lead a slothful life, and be skinny and pretty like Britney Spears. WHY IS IT ALL SO UNFAIR!!!??
Ok, so the Anke 1 is a lot quieter... and a lot weaker, and easier to lose than Anke 2... she's always in the background at the very least. How have I dealt with Anke 2 before?
I have told her to relax, everything is going to be ok. Look at what you have accomplished. It proves what more may be accomplished in future. Slip ups are ok. Just because you went mad this weekend doesn't cancel out the whole next week or 2. Remember, you care about you. You don't like feeling moody, grumpy, stuffed with food and yet still empty. You KNOW you want to make friends with Anke 1, come on now! She's a lot happier!
Ok, so, hands up, who thinks Anke is LOCO!!!??? (read: crazy) ... and that is referring to either Anke, by the way. |

Rep Power: 12 | | hey anke....for the record i don't think your loco...lol! that was a beautifully written piece and i can FULLY identify with it. i found it very interesting the way you put it because it makes us humans (or at least the ones on this journey) seem to have a multiple personality disorder, and it's a constant fight for us to keep trying to surpress the 'evil' one and trying to make sure the 'good' one wins.
i'm in this battle all the time. i've been doing super great the last 3months or so but just this weekend from thursday to sunday, the 'evil' cookie monster came up and completely took over me and decided i was going to eat all the crap i used to. it started out as an innocent cheat day followed by 3 consequtive cheat days. i woke up on sunday with a horrible headache (my body was probably in shock from all the crap i'd eaten) and i was wondering what the heck just happened. i was just so dissapointed in myself since i haven't slipped this bad in MONTHS!
i've since picked myself back up again on monday so i'm doing okay now. but i lay in constant fear not knowing when the cookie monster will rise again.
who knew that food could actually be a drug....a very addictive drug. dammit!
well, hope your doing better now?....or should i say i hope i'm talking to 'anke 1' for now...lol!
i knew this weight loss road would be hard...but i never thought it would be THIS hard! but lets just keep struggling to take things one step at a time, i know we'll all get there someday. Quote:

| | | Ahhh....maybe Anke two heard me, myself, and I over talking, like I told candy, sometimes I tell Me to be quiet, but Me won't listen until Myself tells I to shutup! *lol* That's when you know I've really lost it. Which is often btw. How have I dealt with Anke 2 before?
Just Do It like Nike??....*don't hit*
I like Anke because she's caring, level headed, and brings me down a notch, she's very pretty, and such a hard worker, she is my ant, and I her, Grasshopper.... (were they ants or termites?) *lol*
She knows how to have fun, and a lil splurge from time to time, and yet is balanced out as a great runner! She has come a loooonnnngggg way, and still trudging through!
She is whom she is Anke 1 and Anke 2. *did I just make a rhyme?* |

Rep Power: 19 | | Haha, yep, "Just DO IT" I did say that didn't I!
Thank you for your "Ode to an Anke" LOVED IT!!! Made me feel all warm and fuzzy!!!
Ok, so I have decided that maybe my baby step goals will become better ingrained if I do each for 30 days before moving on to the next. So, my 30 day baby step habit is:
Wake up at 6:00 AM (Mon-Fri), and before 10:00 AM on weekends, and exercise (any kind).
I think this is do-able. It is an important habit for me, as it's just easier to face the rest of the day with your exercise behind you already. Plus it wakes you up in an awesome way... better than coffee does!
So for the next 30 days I'll be counting the days and giving you all updates.
Tonight I'll take my measurements (as I will be doing some strength exercises most mornings), and I'll also note my starting weight, as I am still trying to shed another 20+ pounds.
I can already feel myself constructing a HUGE plan of green tea every day, a structured running regime, clean whole food eating and a strict house cleaning schedule. Usually after a week of this, something in the structure crumbles and I am left feeling like a failure for not achieving AAAALLLL those things (even though I may still be on track with some).
So, I will still be aware of those areas during this time, but I have zero expectations, therefore there may be no guilt in any of those areas. BABY STEPS!!!! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
