Rep Power: 11 | | Hey bmac! Thanks for stopping by! I love reading your diary! It isn't that I intentionally skip breakfast, it just seems that when I'm not hungry I just don't want to eat breakfast. I know it is horrible, it is something I'm working on, but I'm slowly getting there. I have heard that before you should eat a large breakfast, so we'll see how it works out. Hopefully I can get back on track concerning that. I don't mind the advice either, I wouldn't be on here if I didn't want constructive criticism. Thanks!!
Today I had breakfast! Woohooo!! I had egg beaters and yogurt with some protein powder mixed in. MMM protein...I think protein is my new favorite food. I wish I could have a diet constructed of nothing but eggs and protein shakes. hahaha
I had my drug test today! EEK. I think it went real well, I took a practice one this morning and it said I was clear so hoping I passed. This has taught me a lesson. I can't pretend I'm some little kid anymore and do whatever I want. Well, I'll still eat something I just bought from the grocery in the car because my mom never let me, but I don't think I'm ever going to smoke ANYTHING ever again. It really can ruin your life and I have too many goals to be doing that. Plus, I may have only done it once in awhile, like 4-5 times a year, but that one time this year really scared me straight. It has been surprisingly easy to give up cigs, I apparently am a social smoker. I just bring a pack of gum when I go out and when someone asks me to smoke with them I just pull out a stick and chew. What I loved most about smoking was the social aspect of it, and now that I don't smoke I still go out and talk to all of my smoker friends (have to smoke 15 feet away from buildings in Ohio) and I still get the social aspect without all of the negative impact. I'm also not drinking anymore, so my lapses in judgment when drinking are gone.
For the first time I really feel as if I'm succeeding!
Off to the pool have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Rep Power: 25 | | Good job on the quitting of le ciggies. SOOO bad for you. I like the laws that are limiting the smoking(I'm probly a litttttle harsher than some cuz my mom had hi-bp, and smoking raised it higher, gave her a heart attack- ) and in November all the bars hafta be smoke free, which is awesome cuz my eyes always burn in the bars lol.
I'm sure your drug test went fine- but good luck to ya anyway |

Rep Power: 11 | | | Day 22 Jess smoke free bars are amazing. Even when I smoked I hated them. We haven't had smoking in bars for 5 years almost now and it makes such a difference. My clothes smell great and I feel better when I go out.
I think my drug test went fine, no one has called me so YAY! I think I over-worried. Usual.
So tomorrow is my first day of work and I'm REALLY nervous!!!!!! First job out of college, first day of work at a new job since 2004. The really hard part of this whole new job is that the work is in a lab and they told me dress was casual. WTF. I'm just going to wear some black pin stripe pants and this new shirt I got at Sak's on sale. It's so sorority chapter dinner (don't judge) but let's see how it goes. I hope I'm not too overdressed but I would rather be overdressed vs. under dressed.
I'll let everyone know what is going on tomorrow after work!! I packed a healthy lunch so I think I'll be good to go!
This weekend has been a little rough on me. My two best friends had birthdays this week so we had to go celebrate on Friday and on Saturday. I planned for calories and between every vodka tonic, I had a tonic water. However, even pacing myself like that led to me being VERY drunk. So drunk that I lost a shoe. Don't ask me how, but my white heel is very lonely without its right compatriot. On Saturday, however, I was so hungover I only drank two drinks when we went out. I don't even think I drank two full drinks, HOWEVER even feeling hungover from the night before and not looking that attractive (in my eyes) a couple guys had bought drinks for me which was fun. Too bad I gave the drinks to my blackout friends haha but I had some great conversations. Usually it is my friends who are getting drinks sent over, so it was such an ego boost!
Food wise, Saturday was the worst. I only had one meal, but I made it count with a large chip and queso order. Screw it, I was hungover and it made the pain in my head go away. Today I was a much better dieter. I had toast for breakfast, a turkey sandwich with fruit for lunch and a big protein shake for dinner. MMMMM protein shake...drool. I think I could every meal as a protein shake. I'm addicted.
I'm not going to weigh in tomorrow because I will be so nervous with working I don't want to get down on myself if I don't lose. I'm going to move my weigh in to the following week and just skip this week. I need a week off of the weighing in and just focus on my diet and work.
Well, back off to watching Miss Universe with the roommate. GO USA! |

I can't wait to hear about your first day of your new job tomorrow!
Great job on your meal today...the protein shake sounds yummy! The way you talk about it, you've got me sold! I want to get some protein mix but I don't know what is good out there...sounds like you've found a great one. What is the brand/flavor/etc...? |

Rep Power: 11 | | | Day...um....lost track I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I'm never taking a break like that again! AH! Before I begin I just wanted to say my job is amazing/intense. I am doing research in one of the top children ear infections labs in the world, and the pressure is overwhelming. This whole week has been spent reading papers, attending seminars and basically trying not to "fall off the wagon." Never fear, I think I made it out alive. Before I get into all of that let me just say hey to everyone! Pastelroses whats up girl!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah my job was so much fun, the first day was nerve racking, but I made it. It was nice that I'm working in a lab run by an amazing woman who understands that everyone works differently. It is a change of pace from the male-dominated lab I used to work in where the foreign PI was from China and basically had a view on women that I haven't heard of/seen since before women suffrage. haha
My protein is EAS and it is the chocolate flavor. I bought it at Sam's Club both for its price and its low calorie and high protein intake. I would recommend researching beforehand because this is by no means the lowest calorie drink, but it is the best for me right now. I will probably change towards a MORE protein containing shake but we'll see! Hope that helps! Jess I know work work work. I'm a perfectionist so when I want to do something I want to give it my all. Unfortunately for me, that has led to me sacrificing my body in the past. Hopefully this time around that will not happen. It also makes a difference because I don't have a computer at wok (THE NERVE!) and when I would get home I was just too tired to function. Hopefully this week will be better.
But let me just say that I missed every single person on here so much. You are all amazing and everyone's drive to be better makes me at times feel inadequate. I want to be as strong and amazing as everyone on here, and my day to day struggles seem trivial compared to some of you people. You all make me want to better my life and my health and I thank all of you for that!!!!!
So this week, as you heard was crazy. BUT I did squeeze in my workouts. I didn't work out on Monday, however, because lets face it, I was downright beat. I couldn't even stand by the end of the day. Thankfully it got better and I found that it is easier to drive straight to the gym after work with a bag already packed.
My first day at work, my boss ordered chipotle for the whole lab as a welcome lunch. OH NO. weak weak weak. I had a bowl and only ate half of it. Luckily I had packed a lunch so I ate an apple and sandwich during a quick break. I didn't want to seem rude, but I didn't want to ruin my diet.
On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday I ate great lunches and even better dinners. Protein shakes in the morning. I worked out on T, W, Thr, but not F because I was so excited to sleep. I ran home watched a movie with the roommate and slept in til 12 today. hahahahahaha
I'll post more tomorrow because I gotta run! But THank you everyone for your support!

I am glad you like your work, I find that when I am entertained and busy I think about food less which makes me less hungry in a way and I consume fewer calories, so yey!

Your job sounds awesome! I bet you are having a blast. You do research for ear infections....that's awesome. I actually took my son to the emergency room last night b/c he was falling asleep sitting up yesterday, drowsy, cranky, high fever...it was freaking us out! Well, ends up he has an ear infection in BOTH ears. Poor little guy! He was pitiful! They gave him a HUGE shot and today he's good as new! I have a question about ear infections....Do you think they can be related to teething? It seems like everytime a big tooth comes in, he gets an ear ache...maybe coincidence?? (He's only had 3 ear infections that I've know of..)
Well, keep up the great work (both at work and with your workouts/eating! I'll be gone for the week on vacay in Fla. with no computer...so I'll catch up with everyone when I get back on Friday!

Rep Power: 11 | | | Thanks Camy!!! I'm exactly the same way! I just have to look out for the late eating when I come home from work. I am trying to workout and then eat a small dinner, but I have had some snacks and that has got to stop! THanks for stopping by!
Thanks girl! About your son, it could be related. The pressure of continuously biting and sucking could put a lot of pressure on the immature Eustachian tube, the tympanic membrane, and middle ear. Almost like the pressure we get from being in airplanes. There has been research that shows that babies and toddlers who use a pacifier have a higher incidence of ear infections. It doesn't sound like he has a recurrent ear infections, so I wouldn't really worry about it. And dorkiness button is turned off.................
BAH you are so lucky. You think you could put me in one of your suitcases?? I look forward hearing about your trip! have fun! |

Rep Power: 11 | | | Get get get it girl... So today I had the dreaded weigh in. It went... well. Not. I gained a pound. I'm at 195. Boo. I think it is just because I wasn't so focused on eating and a few late night snacks snuck in. But I mean really, I'm not going to sweat the small stuff and see how it goes after this week. I'm back and focused, and my drive is there! As I mentioned before, when I get busy I sometimes let my self slide to the back of my mind and push my work to the forefront. No more!
I'm going to be on here day in and day out posting. SO THERE YOU STUPID POUND! EAT IT!
Yeah, I just trash talked my scale.
So today was a funny day, eating wise. I forced a banana and half of a low fat blueberry muffin down my throat because I WILL EAT BREAKFAST! I also had a cup of coffee and about three glasses of water. OH NOTE: I'm counting how much water I drink now. I want to drink near a gallon a day. Ambitious, but I want to see the results of water that I hear so much about on these boards (I'm a professional lurker ).
For lunch it was bad. I had my orientation today about my benefits, being an employee, yadda yadda yadda. For lunch they had the oh so healthy PIZZA BAR. Yikes. Luckily they had salad so I had a two whole plates of salad with oil and vinegar and two slices of pizza, no cheese, lots of veggies. YUM. But not filling. I also had SIX, count 'em, SIX glasses of water with lunch.
For my afternoon snack because that was NOT healthy lunch, I had a bowl of fiber one cereal. Just one serving and ate it without milk. I like to snack on it.
For dinner, I had a spinach burrito with those delicious low fat, high fiber tortilla's that Jess recommended! THANKS! I also had a side of whole rice and refried beans (basically just beans I mashed up and labeled refried beans). So you heard it right, my dinner was FIBER. YUM. I had about 2 glasses of water with dinner. For desert I had plain, fat free yogurt with a little protein mixed in.
I then worked out and did my Workout A weights and ran about 5 K give or take.
If this were a grade in school I would give my day about a B+. I should have skipped out on the pizza, and I didn't really complete my whole workout because I was tired. But it certainly was an A for effort day.
I hope everyone else had a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Hey Buckeye! I just wanted to pop in and say hi. It sounds like you like your job is great. I am so happy for you.
My weight has been stagnant lately too, don't let it get you down. It really is frustrating I understand. To work out and watch what you're eating and not get the results you're looking for makes it hard to stay motivated. We can do it!
Hope you have a great week. |

Rep Power: 11 | | | Motivationnnnnnnnnnn! funmom So great to hear from you! I know about the weight, I wish sheer will would pull the pounds off. Sadly, that isn't true. I've altered my diet to have more complex carbs, more protein and less fat. I have cut cheese out to boost my body into gear. I love cheese, and if you would have seen how much I ate before all of this you would be amazed at my drastic reduction of it. Good luck and hopefully we'll break through this week. Camy I usually pack my lunch but free food is free food. Then again, by the looks of my body you would think everyday was free food. Today I packed my lunch so it went much smoother. I'm glad you like what I ate, I want diet food to be real food and so far I am succeeding! Thanks for stopping by!
So Monday I didn't weigh what I wanted, but today I hopped on the scale to see if there was any difference because A. I'm addicted to looking at my weight change throughout the day and B. I felt thin. Well, I was down a pound!!!!!!!! No party yet, well see at the weigh in next Monday, but I feel pretty good.
I set up a chart of my hopeful progress until New Years. I gave myself weeks where I lost and weeks where I stayed the same. I just wanted to give myself goals each week that I can obtain. This week's goal is two pounds. So, fingers crossed, I can get this done!
Working out was alright. I was sitting, in meetings, and running silly errands all day today. So after work I went to the gym, but wasn't feeling it. I saw one of my good friends there who was just walking on the treadmill and she suggested we go for a walk. So we walked for about an hour along the trail by the Olentangy river and then we walked the steps in OSU's football stadium. Talk about tough. But I just didn't want to be inside after sitting all day and it felt great! Tomorrow I'll do what I was supposed to do today concerning Workout B weights..
Eating wise....for breakfast I had a pepper cut up in scrambled egg beaters and two pieces of toast with butter. The toast was 70 calories total. I also had 3 glasses of water.
Throughout the day I had 7 glasses of water.
For lunch I had a turkey sandwich, half serving of potato chips (SO SMALL!), TONS of carrots, an apple, and a pecan sandie. Two glasses of water.
For dinner, this leftover wheat pasta from Tuesday, leftover fish with tomatoes and basil, and two glasses of milk.
I'm slurping on some water right now and getting ready for bed. Too much fresh air! hahaha
I hope everyone had a great day and I'll talk to you all tomorrow! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
