0 down and 100 to go, EASY!

Well I'm finally starting another diet.

I'll start off by letting you guys reading know a little about me. I'm 25 years old. I weigh somewhere between 310-340 (i hope). 6'1". I live in Michigan and have a great family and friends.

One of my advantages is i know exactly why i'm fat. I eat way too much food. If i goto fast food i'll eat a combo meal plus a second sandwich. I only eat twice a day and i eat very unhealthy food and a lot of it. I also dont exercise either.

I've always been the big guy since i was about 12. Before then i was skinny and very active, like most kids. By 7th grade I was about 200lbs. I wasnt the biggest in my class, and i was already pretty tall. Throughout high school i was about 230-260lbs. I was always one of the biggest in school. When i look back at pictures of me from graduation or the year or 2 around there, i didnt look that fat. But i always accepted that i was fat and felt fat so its weird when i look back and i wasnt that fat, maybe needed to lose 30lbs to look pretty good.

About 3 years after I graduated i decided i needed to go on a diet. I chose atkins. And it worked great. I went from about 270lbs to 230lbs in a couple months. People around me noticed I lost weight. My problem was that I didnt. I saw myself in the mirror every day and didnt notice much of a difference. I discouraged myself. I should have made a photo journal. I also didnt allow myself to cheat at all. And i didnt eat the so called 0g carb candy bars. I eventually started eating more and more carbs, and after about 6 months gained it all back. Then even more in the following years. 2 years ago i started going to the gym and working out with a friend who worked there. I actually got pretty good. I wasnt dieting, so i wasnt losing much weight but i was getting in much better shape. I weighed about 290lbs at this point. I started going to the gym about 4-5 times a week for 1-1 1/2 hours at a time. Doing the stair stepper and different muscles on different days with a lot of walking the track mixed in between exercises. Then I broke my ankle playing football and didnt do any exercise and never went back to the gym.

Now I'm starting to diet and exercise. Tomorrow is going to be the first day. I know i can stick on a diet, because i was die hard on atkins and wouldn't sneak even 1 chip. I dont think it will be very hard for me. And i think this diary will help me greatly. Along with that the pictures i will be taking of myself weekly will help. I am going to start tomorrow by taking a picture and getting my actual weight.(its tough to find a scale that goes about 300lbs, and until now i didnt want one around) I plan on taking weekly pictures.

What i'm cutting out of my diet:
Fast food - I eat there entirely too much. I need to start cooking my own food.
Soda - cutting it out completely, except 1 can of sugar free red bull a week.
Red meat - I like chicken the most anyway.
Sugar
Most breads - i'll have whole wheat here and there
more - the usuals

What is going to make it hard for me is a couple things. One is i dont like to waste food. I hate whenever i have something go old. This is going to get me at first since i still have a lot of unhealthy food in my fridge/cupboards. I have roommate who will eventually eat it though. But i think i'll be able to get over that. I also have one of my best friends that is going to be dieting with me as well. We see each other every day and usually eat together too.

Well, thats enough for today. I'll update tomorrow or the morning after.

Hi Daniel. Well, in my opinion writing in one of these diaries was the best thing that I did when I first started my weight loss. Not only does it give you somewhere to keep track of your food, exercise, etc. but you also get to meet some great people!

Keep us posted!

And I like the idea with the weekly pictures....I just took one picture at the beginning, and hopefully will be taking one at the end. I did see a video on youtube where a guy took daily pictures for a year or something, and he had an awesome transformation! Pretty cool.

Good luck!!!

-Kristi

Ok i didnt get what i wanted done today.

I didnt eat much. I had a red bull this morning (last of a pack i had). I had about 10 peanuts around 2pm. I had romaine lettuce with some grilled chicken with some tomato garlic vinegar dressing at about 5. Along with a couple cups of coffee.

Tomorrow i plan on going food shopping, which i should have done yesterday. I have plenty of chicken and lettuce, but i need some turkey lunch meat and some lettuce or wheat wraps. Probably some egg beaters and whole wheat bread as well.

I did pretty good on water. I had about 80 ounces. Now i just got to keep it up.

More later.

Thanks for reading.

Hey Daniel

Hey Daniel,
I know you can do this! Even making small changes in the beginning is worth something. Cutting out the sugar drinks are going to make the biggest difference in not only losing the weight, but in your energy level and how you feel. Some people say that sugar gives them energy, but it really just slows the body down. This diary is going to help so much. I've only been here a week and I make my food choices so much more carefully now knowing that I'm going to be writing it down. Well, good luck and can't wait to hear about your progress along the way!

Hi Daniel!

I totally know how this feels. I've gotten a couple of comments from people, but when I look in the mirror I think I look just the same as before I started losing. A good method for me is to go by how well your clothes fit... you'll definitely notice when your favorite pair of jeans is suddenly too big, and when you need to start buying smaller clothes. That tells you you're looking better, even when you can't see it for yourself!

You're doing great already! You'll feel so much better after the first week of home-made meals, I promise!
