Hey Taz

About the carbs thing. Ive done that before. I didnt eat much carbs, mostly ate vegetable and I lost weight but sometimes the weight platue and I really thing the best way is still with exercise.

You are actually at my dream weight. I really would love to be at 70KG. If I can get to 60KG would be an added bonus but 70KG would just be fine, 70KG would be me not so skinny and definately not fat. Would be me voluptious... haha... ive been at 60KG before and it works just fine also.

Taz, you really have so little to loose... it must be so easy... I look at most people in this forum, they are commonly like you, having that much to loose. I do come across people like me which have so much weight to loose... well, I must say im not giving up. Im quite sad that I put on that much weight but the funny thing is, if it were to be me before... I will instantly fall off the wagon but I didnt and I am working even harder to loose more. I guess Im really very serious now about loosing all that weight.

You know, I have a few baju kurung that I will be able to wear once I drop to 100KG. I really cant wait to do that cause those kebaya & baju kurung are So nice and the fabric are expensive. I used to want to throw them away cause I thought I will never be able to fit into them anymore but my mum always stop me, saying, do you know how much this cost and that cost... ahaha... well, now im glad I didnt. Cause I hang it back in my closet and tell myself frequently, how bad I want to wear it.

I really really wish that I am able to buy this kebaya like the nyonyas and babas like to wear, the one with the batik at the bottom and embroideried kebaya at the top. I was thinking, once I get all these weight off. Thats the first thing I will get myself!!

Well I weigh 330 pounds right now, or 149kg and I'm finally actually losing weight since I joined this forum. I've tried every diet out there and especially low carb trying to manage health issues because I'm borderline diabetic. But like you said my weight would plateau really bad and after I lost some initial weight I couldn't lose anymore that way. Plus I'd get really bad cravings and I could only stick to it for so long because it was so restrictive.

Basically any time I've been on a "diet" I look for ways to cheat and soon as I stop seeing results I get discouraged. I've learned from people here a more reasonable approach and now I just adjust portions and try to be more active...which is hard at this weight. I keep track of my calories I eat every day and use a food scale I bought last month for alot of things. I read up online and used some weight loss calculators to figure out how much I burn each day roughly and set my calorie intake at around 2000 a day. When I stick to this I lose weight even if not everything I eat is perfect.

Wow, that is the exact same thing I do. I guess we picked up the same thing on this forum.

We both have so much to loose. I guess we have to do it and take it slowly, one day at a time.

What I fear the most is falling off the wagon, what ive done countless times before and put on even more weight after that.

I eat most items, well today I ate a mcdonalds burger but I usually dont eat much of the bread on the burger, I will peel it off. I have fear of carbs most times... sometimes I just give in to carbs but most times, I try to avoid it.

You have lost quite a lot of weight. I know its a struggle. I struggle too but do you realize that after a while, the struggle gets easier and less of a struggle.

I feel that way when I go through this journey.

What I normally do is, I kind of train my mind to reject certain types of food. When I look at food like bread, which I must say I love so much! I tend to usually eat it but I usually practice a 2 bite policy on it. Or if I buy say, a hot dog, I keep all the extra bun off and just enough that covers the hot dog itself, that way at the least I can save on the calories and extra carbs.

Ok, I have this millionaire cousin who throws luxurious buffet and party at is home, just the other day, he paid for a 23 people buffet. Tomorrow will be a party at his place with the hotel coming to his home to cook and serve. Its a $100 per head kind of food. Im nervous about it. Afraid I will eat too much.

My suggestion? Pick the stuff that is good for you first... fruit, veggies, water and fill up on that. Then you may be tempted to try the other stuff, but the 2 bite rule you have will work pretty well if you aren't really hungry...

Hi hi..

so happy to hear that you are *back* here...To retract back to what you had mentioned earlier, for me the dream kebaya type would be the lace type, with the see through at the hands and then tight kain type but sadly cannot wear yet..i dun know ..i know some ppl when they are bigger also they can wear certain things..but me..i got no confidence to be honest to wear such clothes if I am not at my ideal weight..so it was still baju kurung for me. U know something my top has gone down, not much but has gone down but my thigh, butt and hips still remains..even when I eat well ..and try to exercise like 4 to 5 times a week still not much gone down..the butt remains..but i tell myself that it will go..do you this lady by the name of Haslinda Ali, she was like up from 80kg before and now to 55kg and she is my height, 165cm and she did have the same problems like the classic pear shape..but she did managed to get her hips to go from 44inch to 36inch..sigh..I like your eat 2 bite then STOP technique let me try it with my favourite foods and yes I do love bread. too much esp those delifrance french baguette when it fresh out from the oven dipped it with sambal tumis..mmmmmm yummy with that kind of food how to do the 2 bite technique..ha haa..

take care
taz

reluctantcabbie,

Thats a good idea. I will do just that!! My 2 bite policy was actually picked up from Oprah. At one time at the show, they were interviewing Women of all over the world and they were asking the French Women why its very hard to find a fat French Lady when their country is so famous for their food. Well, the french women says that they have the 2 bite policy, where they always eat fattening food like pastries at 2 bites and move on. That way you get the taste of the item you want but not over indulge yourself. I thought that is such a great idea!

Taz,

haha... I was tickled when I read what you wrote especially about the sambal tumis!! haha... I have a weakness for that too! Im not boasting but I make a mean sambal tumis! lol! Im not making that anytime soon cause I know if I make it, I cant stop snacking on it. I like to butter 2 slice of bread and put sambal tumis in the middle! haha... I can snack up to 6 slice on just this! and its just snack! Im not coming near a sambal tumis...

I dont know who is that haslinda ali. Is she a Suria Channel star? Coz if she is, i wont have a clue. I once didnt recognize a Suria Channel star and she was so pissed off with me. haha...

but... I know what you mean. My sister is just like you! You know she is so skinny at the top but her butt and her thighs are quite large and when she diet, she will loose more at the top but her butt and thighs would usually remains the same. She yo-yo a lot, and we can only notice when she wears things that we can see the shape of her butt.... and she cant control her indulgence and her weakness... but when she does not want to eat, she wont totally and so, she yo-yo! when she is on a diet, she can be quite a bitch. angry for no reason actually but she is more pleasant when she not on a diet.

Wow we DO do the same things, lol. I'm not strict low carb anymore but because of my insulin resistance I try to make good choices about where I get my carbs. Fruit has alot but I don't worry about that as it's more healthy. I try not to eat alot of processed sugar and white flour basically so I end up not eating alot of bread. I do have some recipes for bread that is low in carbs though that I make in my bread machine sometimes that's pretty healthy. Although I don't know if you'd like it or not...I don't recognize half of the foods you mention. And I know what wasabi is but wasabi at Mcdonalds? Wow, I would love to see their menu there, lol.

Haha.. its a new fish burger at Mcdonalds that feature wasabi!!... omg! its really bad! each bite and you can feel the wasabi up to your nose and all over your mouth and I even coughed a few times... I gave up eating it after 3 bites... here is the link and you can view the menu here... lol McDelivery Menu | McDonald's Singapore

Hey, I do have a bread machine. I bought it to make pizza dough coz my kids love pizza and its cheaper to make my own. I tried making breads but my kids hate the bread. I think its the recipe coz a friend of mine whom I bought the machine from said the same thing... she tried making the bread for her kids and they dont like it. My kids like buns so I thought it would be great to bake them. If you have some bread recipes for me to use on the machine.. please throw them over to me... and low carbs bread recipe... oh that would be heaven on earth... lol

Do share... I love any diet recipe!

My recipes are on my computer that crashed yesterday ;/ Unfortunately I just realized that so hopefully I can find them again if they're lost but soon as I do I'll post.

And your McDonald's menu looks the same as the one I'm used to except for that wasabi fish sandwhich....but WOAH...your Mcdonalds delivers? SO glad they don't here or I'd be in trouble, lmao.

Yes, they delivers. You can order from the web or call them up... I sometimes do but mcdonalds can be very expensive. My kids love mcdonalds mcnuggets. Id rather eat other real food or burger king even... that taste better. I do love their fillet o fish. The wasabi is a promotion, they usually have promotions every now and then to keep sales up. They make new burgers but take it off the menu once the promotion is over.

Hi Cybermama,

What sort of food do u eat usually when you are outside? I mean for McD, i think u usually eat Fillet or nuggest is that rite? What abt Burger King & KFC..anything healthy at KFC esp well maybe for the salad? I am working at Suntec and sometimes I am at a loss as to wat to eat ..and there is some days I do feel like fast food but I try to choose a better choice..But i dun usually eat rice for lunch ..i mean the nasi padang is not exactly cheap and its the same thing that MIL usually cooks everyday..so no point wasting money.

Ditto on the sambal tumis and eating 6 bread at one go..that is why i also i try not to make them every so often..But I am not sure if i do make a mean sambal tumis maybe we can share recipes..but my son loves sambal tumis as well..

Haslinda is sorta Suria artiste more like a host before..she hosted a few programmes with her husband. What I remmeber abt her is that she is not one of those already thin then become scrawny artiste she was fat before and now that she is much thinner she is trying to help all those fleshier ladies to be slim and healthy...I have met her in person, she is very down to earth..

So is today your buffet session at your cousin place? Honestly speaking I don't have control or much control when I am this type of situations..sad right..Yah I tend to eat more than the usual..but what I try to do usually is not to eat too much when I am at home the few hours prior to the event so even if I do eat or over eat it won't be that bad..enjoy your day..

xxx,taz

I do eat mcdonalds, if I do, I choose fillet o fish but most times, the bun on the burger will be so badly peeled off.

Ok, I must tell you someting very funny. Back in 1998-1999, I was on a diet to loose like 30-40KG of weight. What I did was, everyday and I must say every day, I only eat mcdonalds and KFC. I ate like 2-4 pc of KFC chicken and if on the days I feel like a burge, I will eat 2 cheeseburgers, this will happen as early as possible as soon as these restaurant is open and the food becomes available. I only eat 1 meal per day and drink loads of Evian, bottles and bottles of it. I also exercise 2-3 hours per day, doing step reebok, stepper and running. I also would drop down from the MRT at orchard and walked to Somerset and then continue my journey to Woodlands everyday and I will also walk back to my place in Marsiling from Woodlands MRT. This will happen everyday. Phentermine makes you do crazy things. Crazy right but it worked! I lost around 5-7 KG per week. I also took phentermine then, but Im not going through that road again. Its unhealthy, the moment you stop taking the pills, you put on double what you loose. Personally, ive experience it and ive seen it happen to everyone who took it. Its just a quick fix and not permanent.

if you work and have to eat out, that would be quite a challenge. When I eat out, I prefer to choose soupy bee hoon and usually there will be quite a lot of the bee hoon left. If I eat nasi padang, I will choose 2 types of vege and 1 meat then eat all except for the rice. Its been quite a while that I really enjoyed rice, thats carbs so Im not that into it while loosing weight. I try to avoid it as much as I can.

I prefer to eat items like grilled chicken or fish, I love burger king's mushroon swish burger, and same goes, bun peeled off! I do have to tell you also that Its been quite a long while since ive been to BK.

This is what I do, when I go to such restaurant, I usually do so before noon. I prefer to eat fast food as early as I can, so it will be burned off throughout the day. I actually noticed it once when I ate a breakfast meal at mcdonalds early one morning then ate vege throughout the day and the next day I lost quite a good amount of weight.

Yes, the buffet is later today after maghrib. I hope I can control myself, its indian theme and I love indian food. I will update later...

I am back from the buffet party and there are really so so much food. there are waiters serving and chefs cooking right on the porch of the house. Not just one but around 4 chefs cooking different kind of foods. There is a spread of rice and authentic malay dishes and a spread of salads and a spread of ulam and a spread of rojak and a spread of bread and cheese etc and a spread of soup and a spread of drinks and a spread of all sorts of cakes and other deserts. The chefs each prepare some authentic char kuay teow dish, seafood bbq, steaks and other grilled stuff and also satay.

Ok, for me, I first took a spoonful of rice with a slice of fish and a 1/4 breast meat of chicken sweet sour. 8 prawns sambal ( ok, prawns is my guilty pleasure and TAZ! speak of the devil! Its sambal!) then I hauted the salad bar, took 2 spoonful potato salad and 2 spoonfull coleslaw. I tried to take other stuff but really, im not in the mood, Im just looking at all the carbs and im sorry I really cant do it. I really cant take all those food in. Ok2 I took too much prawns I must admit. I took another 8 prawns for second helping and thats all. I did try to eat more potato salad but something keeps telling me... too much calories too much calories and so, I took a few pieces for the sake of eating with my sister.

According to fit day - my buffet calories was 633

Total food calories for today - 1,259

Not inclusive of my water calories

2 glass fruit syrup drink
1 bottle green tea
1 cup of coffee

Rest are water plain so no calories
