I'm a little nervous about failing myself.........
*deep breath.
I can do this.
Ive been in shape before.....I can get back there.
| Thanks for stopping by my journal today and giving me that boost!
I can tell that you are very motivated and that you really want this. You can do it! Don't stress about failing. You will probably have some rough moments and things won't go according to plan 100% of the time. Those are the times that remind us why we are doing this in the first place. Those are the times that will make you bitter or better, and make you or break you. It's always a choice.
So, I love that you gave your demon a name. AND that you named it Fatty Fat Poo. Can I name mine that too?!
What were some of the foods that you replaced with the old? Welp, see ya around! ~Kristi |

Rep Power: 6 | | I havent gotten rid of the computer desk yet.......this is a tough one.
But thinking about it.....I need to get off my butt while reading all these forum threads...lol.
I'll swithc to the tall stand up desk ( actually a drafting table ) tomorrow....
It's nighty nite time now.
Dont want to stay up too late.......because, believe it or not...I wake up at quarter to five every morning........dunno why...I just like the cool air and silence I guess.....
(( I drank three Nalgen bottles of water today, over 100 ounces.....one I put a squirt of lemon juice in......love water )).
I'm starting the food weighing on the digital scale.
one serving of oatmeal with one serving of raisins in it by weight really isnt that small.....and only 280 calories....good start to the day... I can do this. |

Rep Power: 10 | | We can do it
A year is plenty of time, so there is nothing better than taking it slow.
One day at a time. We can't deny that it won't be hard but everything we want in life is worth working for, right? |

I'm gonna exorcise the demon 'Fatty Fat Poo' from my life........and it's gonna lose!
The foods I got rid of were the ice creams, eggos, snacks, crackers, sugar, white flour, vegitable oil, jams, canned foods like baked beans and spaghetios, etc., I got rid of the flavored oatmeal packets (like apple cinnimonstuff), all candy, Sauces, marinades, hot chocolate, cake mixes & browmies and such, frozen juices, all soda and alcohol in the house.......everything That I though would be a distraction.
I then bought a crapload of veggies (both frozen and fresh, fruits of all kinds, nuts, skin milk, tea, sunflower oil, whole grains, etc.....I kept all the stuuf that I can make healthy meals with like meats and fish and stuff......I love to cook, so I have an extensive spice rack and lots of garlic and onions....So I wont be using sauces like marinades and dips and ketchup!
I got multivitamins, vitamins B C D and Fish oil. I got a detox kit to milk thistle-fiber- detox my body (dunno if it will work, but gonna give it a whirl) and am hoping on getting an herbal wrap to detox from the outside. I am also going to phase coffee down to black and one or two cups only a day.....to no cups a day
....I stocked my fridge full of fruits and veggies, so if I get a craving to eat (which I know will happen) I will only have access to them......I wont have the temptation to grab a bag of chips and a beer, or a handful of m&m's....or a swig off the pancake syrup.......(( oh ya, you know you've all been there )).
I have the digital scale on the counter too.......Im going to try and stick to the plan of weighing EVERYTHING I put in my pie-hole and keeping track of the calories.......Thats the key I think. I will also pre-portion the lunch I take to work......And LEAVE MY WALLET AT HOME SO I CANT GO OUT TO LUNCH WITH THE GUYS!!!!!

Rep Power: 9 | | | You are definitely off to a great start and doing all the right things. CHoosing not to have the temptation around was the only way I was able to get started. Now I don't have as much trouble with cravings, but the first 3 days if I didnt leaver all my change and ones at home I wouldve been down to the vending machines at work a few times.
Good luck and its great you have the perfect motivation for getting healthy. |

Rep Power: 5 | | | Hey congrats on your choice of giving yourself a healthier life for just not yourself, but for your daughter.
I recently lost my father because of various health issues, one being of the most prominence was how my dad was overweight. I wish he had exercised the initiative to do the same thing for my brother and sister, mom and myself.
Good for you, and good luck on your journey! |

I measured all my food intake today:
I ate six times today. and I wasnt ever really Hungry.......cool.
what's even cooler, When I added up all the calories, it came out to 2440....
...so technically I can eat more if Iwanted to in order to reach my goal of a starting calorie intake of 2500. (I'll see how this goes after I really start exercising and start lifting...Im sure Ill be adjusting the calorie input alot as time goes on).
sweet
I went to GNC after work.......got a GNC gold card.
went a bit nuts, got the "Mega Men Joint" pill packs, A detox kit (everything for a one week gastro, blood circ, liver, kidney, enzyme, probio, and fiber flush), a bottle of Hoodia (just in case).
what else......
well I officially am on the clock tomorrow. I got my mother interested...very cool
gonna get up at my usual 4:45 or 5:00...gonna walk till the sun comes up.
life is gonna be great from here on out.
PRESEASON STARTS TOMORROW !!!!!

Rep Power: 8 | | | The BIG Day... Well, here it is Thursday, Aug 7th. Happy birthday to your daughter. Just wanted to wish you luck in the coming year. You can definitely do this.
Glad you're not trying to kid yourself out of the occasional slice of pizza. Football season is always a biggy around our house, too! Since, I'm of the "I don't really care about football" opinion, I usually end up chatting and eating. So, here is something I'm going to try this year. I'm gonna make snacky foods like shrimp cocktail instead of nachos, veggie tray instead of chips & dip, and grilled shish-ka-bobs with veggies and various meats instead of burgers. Not that I will cut out the others all together, but just want to give myself more variety. My husband wants to eat better too, so he is all for this... thankfully!!!
Anyway, good luck to you. First day and you already have a 3 pound head start... |

I guess I better get the questionaire out of the way early in my exorcism.
(( Just to give the demon Fatty fat poo a bit of a scare.....keep the fink on its toes))
Here goes:
How much weight do you want to lose? = 100 pounds
What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? = 1 year
How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? = diet, exercise, calorie accountability, lifestyle change over a year.
Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? = my family, friends, coworkers, my daughter, and you all !
-- How realistic is your goal? = I think it is very realistic!
-- When will you start? = officially August 7, 2008
What is your current height and weight? = 6'1" 284 lbs
If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? = 187 pounds
At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? = well three months from now it seems like I sould be in the 25 pound loss area
Why do you want to lose weight? = because I got to the point where I didnt feel healthy, literally. Also my daughter needs a healthy daddy for a long long time. ..... and I'd like women to notice me again, I miss that.
Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? = sort of....Im aiming for Maiah's fifth birthday
What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? = this computer is a big one, Im a video game fiend... WoW level 65...(geek!)....also I dont know how much Im going to crave hot wings, fries and beer in the near future...lol
Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? = see previous question I also technically have a desk job
What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? = getting out more. I really miss camping..I live in the rocky mountains for petes sake!!
Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? = I lost a lot in boot camp. I was in pretty good shape from then on until about ten years ago
Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? = I really didnt lose weight because I told myself I really didnt need to lose weight
What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? = splurge exercise stints or crash starvation......
Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? = hell yes, and I have allready started.
Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? = I love to cook, Im a pretty damn good one too if I dont say so myself.....the problem is I like to cook large quantities.
How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? = used to be about 4 days a week for lunch and 2-3 for dinner....now I'm cold turkey. I will allow a weekend outing on my sunday rest day, I leave my wallet at home now when I go to work, so I CANT go out to lunch with the guys
What are your three favorite foods? = mexican & Chinese, sushi, italian ,,,,wait....who am I kidding, I LOVE all food! (except coconut)
What are your three favorite restaurants? = I dont really have favorites....depends on what I feel like.
What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? = portion!, calorie accountability! and healthy!
If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? = I would not have a big belly and man-boobs, I wouldnt feel like shi* and have sore bones when shuffling off to the kitchen to make a whole pot of coffee....etc.
Do you eat when you are not hungry? = oh yes
Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? = I can eat a whole pizza.......with beer......so yes.....been there
Do you hide your food or eat in secret? = no, because I dont have to....and Im big enough, nobody questions me...lol
Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? = sometimes, those emotions can go either way (eating or starving)
Do you eat as a reward? = isnt eating a reward?
Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? = Always it seems
What do you normally eat for a meal? = the whole thing
What type of snacks do you eat? = anything within reach (except icky yucky coconut)
In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? = none before, now I am walking in the am, and doing weights and elliptical in the eve...I also just got a heavy bag
Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? = I have converted my living room into a gym of sorts. I got rid of the couch, and moved the weight bench, elliptical, and heavy bag in.
What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?
What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? = my favorite exercise is the one that I dont have to watch the clock. Thats why I like walking now...listen to audio books and zone off....nice...an hour is gone before I know it
Do you have rewards for certain goals? = 3 months I should lose 25 pounds, Ill reward myself with something...dunno what yet....probably new clothes or man toys
anyway..... Im off to the shower and to bed now....I feel good casue I smacked the heavybag around a bit.....its 9:00pm I usually go to bed early and wake up about quarter to five. I used to be a night owl in my reckless days, now Im definately a morning person.....having a four year old makes a big difference too......I'm a single dad (my ex and I go week to week equal custody) and I have the responsibility to be a good dad, and I will, she deserves it.
*night all. |

Rep Power: 10 | | wohho another day has passed, yay for us.
Me being a single parent also, I can totally feel what you are feeling about your little one.
It's not easy but they are the one thing that can pull your thru anything. I am also doing this for my son, I want to be a fun parent, a healthy parent that can show their child a proper way of living life healthy, because we all know the saying " how the parents eat is how the children eat". I refuse to fill my child with filth and allow him to watch me fill myself with filth and reduce my years of living each day by doing so.
I respect you for doing this for your little girl
