Rep Power: 10 | | Hey! Thanks for stopping by my journal!
In my experience, you've GOT to allow yourself some leeway with what you eat. If you have pizza (like I had tonight) either stick with one piece, eat well for the rest of the day, or lay off on the chips/fries/whatever. That way, you can have what you want, and not feel bad about it. Do you log your calories with fitday? I suggest this because I SUCK at counting calories. haha...
Also, I think if you feel okay with the food you eat, you'll probably think less about the binge/purge cycle. Not that I have any experience, I just think that would probably work. Don't punish yourself for not eating well, instead correct it as soon as you can, not eat everything and make up for it by having a tyrannical exercise regime. That just makes you that much less likely to stick with it.
Well, That's all the advice I have. After all, I just started this journey in May.
I wish you the best of luck!!!

Awwh thanks so much for the advice, you made very valid and helpful points! I think my problem is I always just end up throwing in the towel if I eat something that I dont consider "healthy" and then go off the deep end. Ive really been trying to get myself back on track since school is just around the corner--but its just one day at a time, I know when I set my mind to it I can really drop the weight (done it multiple times before) but I really want to keep it off this time instead of bouncing all around--stupid water weight! lol
Again thanks for the visit, it means a lot to me! |

Rep Power: 10 | | Haha no problem. I used to just say "oh screw it" and eat everything I could get my hands on... I don't know what changed in me, but I just stop eating now. It's weird. I remember all these times I'd go to sleep crying because I was fat, swearing I'd do anything I could to change it. The next day I'd cave and eat whatever the hell I wanted, saying, I already screwed up today, why not make it worth my while? Gah. Somehow, I just changed. I can't explain it, really, I wish I could, but I just don't understand it. Like something in me snapped and I got so fed up with myself and how I was eating that I just decided that things were going to be different.
Wish I could tell you how I changed. I'd like to know it myself.
But I wish you the best and I know you can do it just like I did. (You never got as heavy as I got, so maybe it'll be easier for you. One can hope, anyway.)
Annnnyyyyywhoooooo... Good luck!!! |

Rep Power: 14 | | you have such a friendly face! Love the bonfire pics! And you are doing fine. i have to to tell you that even in the face of some backsliding sometimes, if you can keep the portion control and working out, it helps a lot. i lost 20 lbs this summer and I know I was not always a very good girl in either working out or my food choices
And I think we are on the same 'water weighty' schedule I'm on the downslide now though, but compounded the problem with beer *doh*
I'll be watching your progress too. Best wishes to you! |

I was just reading through, and like you I am also studying nutrition with a minor in exercise science. I have battled with my weight my entire life and its become my obsession and I figured I might as well study something related to it because I have sooo much personal experience.
I am only 2 years into my program and haven't really learned much, just the basics. How did you get into the industry so quickly? I have looked for jobs but everything requires a degree or previous experience. I would like to get a job before I graduate so that I can get some experience and really learn the ins and outs of nutrition.
Anyway, I wish you luck on you journey!
Oh and BTW you are gorgeous!! Such a beautitul face!!
Cheers,

ohh I totally agree with you on the personal experiences helping with your field of study, thats how I got into it, and then it stemmed from me wanting to study nutrition and exercise so I can help people who are going through what i went through. Treating eating disorders, working in a fitness center, etc..
I am currently in my third year of study and actually found this job through my school program, we are required to do field experience as well as an intership before we graduate and this summer working at the VA Hospital was my field experience. My program advisor sends us all emails about openings in the surrounding areas, and this one just happened to be close to where my parents lived so I interviewed for it and luckily i got it! Its hard because a lot of paying jobs want experience, but the volunteering was actually more benefital to me than the food service worker job, so if yo ucould find somewhere to volunteer at for food and nutrition than id strongly reccommend it!
and thanks so much for the compliment and for stopping by my journal--i greatly appreciate it!

Rep Power: 12 | | Im so glad people are stopping by my journal It makes things so much easier when I have support!
Well not much has happened since yesterday I ate out twice--which was a no good situation, but I was with friends and there is absoloutley no food in the house...
I had an appointment with my psychologist this morning, which I ended up skipping...(I know I shouldnt have--but im not really sure why I didnt go?) Dont get me wrong I really like my Psychologist I think shes super sweet and understanding, but even though I always feel better after we have our appointment--I think its incredibly awkward sitting there talking about my life with someone; and even though she knows what shes doing, Im one of her first cases of having an eating disorder and I dont think she really knows what to ask or listen for, but then again I could be completely wrong...
I will probably call today and set up another appointment, but I was just a dead beat and didn't go this morning. I instead slept in (which was highly needed) and have packed more, since I leave for school and my new apartment on Tuesday.
Otherwise not much has happened except for I made a lovely breakfast this morning of blueberry pancakes, and 2 scrambeled eggs.
Todays tallys:
breakfast:
4-4 in blueberry pancakes :160
2 scrambeled eggs w/ 2% cheese: 200
Butter and light syrup: 100
snack:
1 piece of peanut butter toast: 180
8 club crackers: 100?
lunch:
Stouffers noodley thing w/veggies and pasta: 290
Dinner:
1-1/2 cans sweet potatoes drained of syrup: 300?
2 oz chicken: 110
small handful of chocolate covered cashews: 200?
Total: around 1,500ish --> Not bad Not Bad
Not too bad so far--I think

Rep Power: 18 | | I'm wondering if you could find a psychologist that specializes in eating disorders. I agree that your current one is qualified but as far as knowing what to listen for maybe not so much.... I don't know how willing you are to talk about your problem, but you might ask one of the directors in your program if they could referr you to someone. It never hurts to keep your options open ya know.
MMMM bluberry pancakes... sounds delish!!
I assume school starts after the 1st?? Are you excited??? I always get the school butterflies a few days before it starts... but I am excited to be getting back to it! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
