Rep Power: 12 | | Happy and Healthy Well, I am generally new to this forum, (just joined today)! And I am really excited to be a member. My name is Mariah and I am currently 20 years old and am going to school for Dietetics with a minor in health and fitness. (Ironic isn't it?)
I have actually battled Bulimia for about 4 years, and have just recently (1/08) received treatment. I plunged head first into treatment and haven't looked back (7 months since last b/p). And, although I am feeling generally content with myself after therapy, medication, self acceptance, etc... I still would like to lose weight to get into a healthy range and protray and exemplify my future my career.
Its easiest for me to keep a food journal to be aware of my intake and also keep an exercise journal.
I have fallen back into some bad food habits, Junk food snacking, mindless eating, et... and want to break it before I delve into something dangerous (even though I dont think I will). So I need to get back on track! Today was a particularly bad food day where I was unaware of my caloric intake so I am officially back on my monitoring tommorow.
But Today I have Eaten (Yipes!)-
Breakfast:
1 Apple
Lunch:
1 Spinach, Turkey, and Provolone Wrap w/ lettuce, tomatoe, onion, cucumber, and honey mustard (it sounds good but it was huge!)
1 small bag of cheez its
Snack:
1/2 chicken cesar sandwich (leftovers)
1/2 S'more Pie
Snack 2:
1 Piece of Peanut Butter Toast w/ Triple Berry Jelly
Dinner:
1 Eggie in a Basket
3 pieces of Bacon
Dessert:
1/2 pint of Ben and Jerrys Cinnabun Ice cream (My true enemy)
So today wasnt fabulous at all, but tommorow is another day and I am really hoping that this forum and everyone on it will be good motivation and role models for a newbie like myself! |

Wow yum your food sounds delish! I think that even though you might be restricting your calories you can still eat yummy food!
I have had body issues too, since I was seven years old, and it's definatly hard to try and break out of that mindset and do it the healthy way. How I got myself out of it was learning about nutrition and exercise, and concentrating on improving my health as opposed to my figure. Your knowledge in Nutrition will definalty help people on the board, good luck! |

Rep Power: 12 | | Thank God its the weekend! I am so ready for my summer work to be over and I am actually welcoming the change of fall so I can move back to school!
I currently work at a Veterans Medical Center as a foodservice worker as well as a volunteer. I work under the registered dieticans helping them work with patients and their nutrition. Its been a really good experience so far, but I am looking forward to returning to school lol.
This week has been pretty alright since my last post, I am now watching more closely my cal intake as well as my fat intake so Im not mindlessly snacking. I just purchased Alli--the FDA approved weight loss pill, and am going to try it out, ive been researching it and thought it would be worth a try. I havent noticed anything crazy with the side affects yet, but it has only been two days! Ive also been anally watching my fat intake each meal to make sure Im under 15 grams so I dont have any anal leakage! *EMBARASSING* Im hoping it will just move my weight loss a little quicker and aid me in more motivation
I weighed myself yesterday on my parents scale and it said that I was 165.5 my scale tends to read about 2lbs heavier than any other scale which is weird. But right now Ill continue weighing myself on my parents scale and then once I hit below 165 on my scale it wont be as harsh to switch over to my scale lol.
Yesterday my cal intake looked like this:
Breakfast:
1 peanut butter and jelly sandwich on wheat: 500
Lunch:
1 turkey sandwich on wheat w/mayo: 310
2 grahmn crackers: 50
1/2 bag of trail mix: 800
Snack:
the other 1/2 bag of trail mix: 800 (I didnt realize there were so many cals in it, but it was mostly nuts and dried fruit so I shouldnt feel so bad )
1 20 oz Coke Zero
Dinner:
Roast Chicken Breast: 110
Steamed Green Beans: 25
1 side salad with 2% cheese and low fat french dress: 150
Snack:
1 Bowl of Fiber one w/skim milk: 220
Total: 2,965! I blame it on the damn trail mix!
Well hopefully today will be a little better
Breakfast:
1 eggie in a basket on wheat (no added fat): 160
1 cup fiber one with milk: 220
1/2 cup mixed fruit: 90
1 tbsp jelly: 50
Lunch:
Im going out to applebees with a friend so I'll order off the weight watchers menu *Im thinking the chicken tortilla melt which is 480 cals, or the onion soup and a side salad which would be like 150 & 150?*
Wish me luck! |

Rep Power: 16 | | Good luck! I'm going to be keeping an eye on your progress, as I have also considered Alli and I want to see someone with some good results. So I'll be rootin' for ya!
PS: That chicken tortilla wrap sounds excellent right now, lol.. |

Rep Power: 12 | | Last night although fun, was probably not the smartest way to start off my weekend. It included lots of friends, food, and alcohol (Oh nos!) all I can say is that I tried to stay low fat so I would have no adverse side affects with the Alli (Which I have not experienced yet) but otherwise there are really no props for my food intake last night.
1 bowl of fiber one:
1 eggie in a basket:
mixed fruit:
small plate of chinese:
french onion soup: =
cheesecake dessert shooter:
gummi worms
2 Brownies
1 veggie burger w/cheese
mixed fruit
Baked Lays
4 glasses of malibu Rum w/sunny D
3 marshmallows (1 made it into a smore)
But despite that I did make a pretty kick ass bonfire lol: Here are a few pics of me enjoying the festivites of last night : http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/f...illas/fire.jpg http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/f...llas/fire2.jpg http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/f...llas/fire3.jpg

Rep Power: 12 | | So even though I move into my new apartment and start school in about 3 weeks I for some reason have no motivation to lose weight. It bites! I mean I want to lose weight but when it comes down to it, I just am not feeling it at the moment. Ive noticed that I feel like Im going to binge slightly sometimes and my Psychiatrist told me if I continue to feel this way that I will need to up my Prozac dosage. But Im such a hollistic person that I absoloutely hate being on medication, but I really have no better option at the moment. *sigh* The past few days were a little chaotic. Last night we celebreated two of my bestfriends birthday with a paddle boat ride on the Mississippi which included a buffet and wonderful cheesecakey desserts. And the past few days I have eaten out at Mcdonalds and Burger King I do so well until dinner time....
My Alli has been working...to say the least. I havent weighed myself since thisTuesday ( which I was up 1 lb ) so Im not exactly where I am standing with my weight, but for the sake of my sanity I am going to assume that I am still up my 1lb. I notice when I go to the bathroom now that there is definetely "oily excretions" left in the toilet which although disgusting is somewhat satisfying--knowing that its actually working. The only other side affects Ive noticed are more frequent urges to visit the bathroom. But it is defintely helping get rid of some of the fat from my diet. I can't help but wonder though, if its eliminating all fats, including the good mono and poly unsaturated fats...I bet theyve done studies on that...?
So lets see if I can recall what Ive eaten in the past few days:
Yesterday:
1 Luna Bar
1 Vanilla Lowfat yogurt
Snack
1 apple
1 luna bar
lunch:
Chicken Sandwich
small Fries
small Chocolate Shake
snack:
1 peanut butter toast
1 snack size luna bar *I love them!*
Dinner:
Cesar Salad
1 Breadstick
1 serving Manicotti
Roasted Veggies
Roasted Red Potatoes
Dessert:
1 piece of plain cheesecake
1/2 piece of apple tart
1/2 piece of birthday cake
**Probably on a scale of 1-10 for being a bad day that was probably a 9.5 I think the only redeeming factor was my breakfast wasnt so bad**
The Day Before:
Breakfast:
1 Luna Bar
1 Vanilla Low fat yogurt
Lunch:
1 apple
1 luna Bar
Dinner:
10 Chx Nuggets
Med. Fries
Dessert
1/2 cup of orange sherbert
Annnnddd Today I have had:
Breakfast
1 Luna Bar
2 eggies in a basket w/homeade jelly
watermelon
Lunch
2 Hotdogs on wheat bread (no hot dog buns left)
10 Cherries
Snack
1 piece of peanut butter toast w/fresh honey *yumm*
Dinner:
Mac and Cheese
1 piece of bread w/peanut butter
Dessert:
1 brownie w/ 1 scoup vanilla ice cream
Lets just hope I can have some will power for the rest of the week so I dont end up breaking the scale on friday!
**So looking back, its obvious I have a sweet tooth and very strong liking of eggie in a baskets (egg in a piece of toast) and peanut butter, I am going to try and cut back on 1 sweet a day (1 serving!) and eggie in a basket once a week, and peanut butter once a week...so I can help shave off unneeded sugar and fat in my diet! Oh! and better choices at fast food!

Rep Power: 12 | | So I have rethought my goal, and am going to totally dive head first into the healthy weight loss thing with full optimism and confidence, I would love to get down to 118-120 pounds, so I thought why not make it my goal? Its a long term goal that would be amazing to achieve and I look at everyone else who has loss so much weight on this forum and made so much progress--and I want to be a part of it! From here on out, I am giving 110%! My first goal is to reach halfway by new years! (so about 143 pounds) which is about 5lbs a month which is something I think I can definetely do!

Rep Power: 12 | | I am feeling pretty good today, no headaches and tommorow is my last day volunteering at the VA! Yay for getting off at 11!
Today I have eaten:

1-16 oz Diet Coke
1 bowl of rasin bran
1 peanut butter and jelly sandwich
1 cup lemon pudding

Rep Power: 12 | | Grr today on being a girl I am water weighty and thus craving bad bad food--excuses excuses, someday I will kick this weight loss thing in the butt.
This always happens to me where I end up in a rutt, cant get out of it, I gain a little more weight and then finally I shift up to 20 pounds which is close enough to my goal where I let it just slip up and get back into my vicious cycle again. When I was 15 I was about 135 pounds and I ended up getting mono for about 6 months and lost about 10-15 pounds, well thats how the whole E.D. thing came into play and I stopped eating, and then I was got tired of being hungry all the time I started eating, but gained some weight back. Then of course I started binging and purging = bulimia. Ive always been up and down on my weight and its the pits (Through the course of 5 years). I have an extensive wardrobe of clothes anywhere from a size 5 through a size 13 so keeping a steady weight for me is a challenge in itself. Im sure Ill get a jolt soon to start losing the weight and finally keeping it off, but right now Im just blahh...
I have gained this week too....
And for my horibble food journal that I have met none of my goals on--
Today:
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich
Lunch:
Peach Rings
BBQ Fritos
1 small brownie
Dinner:
2 eggies in a basket
4 pieces of bacon |

Rep Power: 12 | | So Ive decided to come up with a 10 day detox diet (or longer depending on how long I can stick with it) it took me a while to calculate everything but I decided I wanted all the benefits of a low calorie/low fat/high protein/high fiber/low carb (simple carbs)/ and low sodium diet. Its pretty intense, but I think if I write down what I should eat every day and plan it out it will be alright. Heres what a sample day would look like:
Low Fat/Low Carbohydrate/Low Sodium/High Protein/High Fiber Diet!
1300-1350 Calories/day
>20-22 grams of fat (~15% of diet)
>90 grams of carbohydrates (~25% of diet)
~215 grams protein (~60% of diet)
<25 grams Fiber
<2500 mg sodium
10-12 glasses water Breakfast
5.3 oz Fage Yogurt 0%
2.5 oz Berries
1/3 cup soy protein powder Lunch
3 oz Tuna
1 cup steam broccoli
4 oz cottage cheese (No salt)
½ cup can pears
.5 oz metamucil snack
1 oz soy nuts Dinner
1- 8 oz skinless chx breast
½ cup baked egg plant
2 cups romaine
½ cup almond milk
1/3 cup soy protein powder
2 cups steamed spinach Snack
1 oz turkey jerky Dessert
Sugar free Jello
Totals: Calories-1250 Fat- 16 g (11.5%)
Carbohydrates 85 g (28%)
Protein- 190 g (60.5%)
Sodium- 1,946 mg
Fiber- 27 g
**So what do you guys think? Crazy or Doable?

Rep Power: 12 | | Things are counting down to the start of next semester! I have so much stuff to do and so little time! Tommorow is my last day of work--yay! Then I have 1 week off to recooperate before I get ready to move into my new apartment. I am currently broke at the moment and living with my parents before I move out and we have absoloutely no food in the house--well no good food. So I literally have been living off eggs and peanut butter which I do not want to do--but im a slightly picky eater and I swear all my parents eat are icky conveinece foods like hot dogs and pork. Which I dont eat. Im really not a big meat person and pretty much only eat chicken and turkey on a rare basis. I never eat pork and maybe only eat beef 3 times a year. Ive really been wanting to start my new diet that I have created but have been unable to make it to the grocery store with enough money to buy substantial foods. I am excited to move back to school so I can be more in conrtol of my food situations, (Its so much easier for me to lose weight and watch what I eat when I am not with my parents) so theres a positive note on having to pay rent..lol..Plus my boyfriend will be in school also so less frequent date nights which = less going out and eating deliciously bad food. This week has been alright, if I could I would definetely eat better things, but atm its just not something thats super conveinent. But I get paid this Friday so grocerys here I come!
Today I have eaten (Big surprise)
1 peanut butter and jelly sandwich : 300
Snack:
2 small zucchini muffins: 150
Cheese and crackers
Lunch:
1 piece of corn 60
1 cup blueberries: 80
2 eggies in a basket: 350
1 tbsp jelly: 60
Ice cream
Dinner:
1 grilled chx thigh and drumstick
apple sauce
au gratin potatoes
1/2 cucumber
After dinner:
1 home-made smoothies (w/blackberries, bluberries, strawberries, pineapple, yogurt, and coconut milk) *Yumm*
