Rep Power: 8 | | Weigh day yesterday, and my was I shocked!!
Ive had a really good week, calories have been almost perfect everyday, been exercising like a trooper, so my goal of wanting to hit a big number this week seemed realistic, by when I got on and saw I was down 7lbs! I almost fell off the scales!!
And although this is still technically a good thing, Its made me think I need to up my calories a little more. But at the same time, I feel great at the moment! I dont feel 'starving' at any point, Im eating well balanced nutritional foods, so hopefully my body is getting all it needs..so what to do?
Ho hum
Still, only 2lbs to go and Ill be under the 100kg mark.. sounds good to me |

Rep Power: 8 | | I had a grading for HapKiDo on Sunday, which involved an hour 'warm up' at 11:00, which on a Sunday morning..sucked!!
The good news though is I passed This was my first 'proper' grading in front of the whole class and the Chief Instructor (who I had never met before)..so the nerves were there, but I did it
Also the Grand Master (9th Dan) for my clubs organisation has come down from Sweden to train with us and hold a Seminar this weekend.
He came to the class last night, and jesus christ if he isnt the craziest Korean in the world!! Super nice guy, but doesnt accept anything but your best, which I totally respect him for.
So today I've been recovering because my thighs are killing me!!
Also its our 3 year anniversary this weekend, so me and the lady have decided to go out for a meal at a really nice pub which serves incredible steaks!! Dont even get me started on how good there blue cheese sauce is Not sure how Im gonna work that into my calories but should be fine!!
Still havent taken a recent pic of me to add to my before and In between..not sure why, but I feel like im delaying it on purpose? Probably putting some form of retarded pressure on myself for no reason!!
Anyway, hope y'all are well |

| Thats a good question..one I havent really thought about to be honest! I am really excited, because when I first set 210lbs as my initial goal, I didnt honestly think it would ever happen. My old way of thinking was extremely negative!! So yeah Im excited, and kinda proud of myself aswell..which is a first! Quote: |

| Thanks man, sorry to talk about the 'food' again |

You are on this for the long term and one meal will not derail you, so enjoy. Besides, you're pretty sure to be working it off soon enough. |

Rep Power: 8 | | So im gonna stop off and pick up my new Heart Rate Monitor Watch thingy after work!!
Im really trying to focus on my exercise as I feel my diet is where it should be (for now!) and even though Im exercising regularly, I feel I can give it more.
I've been reading through the stickied threads and came across the HIIT one, so instead of keeping a steady pace on the ep trainer tonight, Im gonna try and mix it up a bit HIIT (ish) style
I say 'ish' because im not gonna go straight into it guns blazing, puke, pass out and break something!!! I'll turn it down a notch to begin with, then kick it up once I feel ready.
Other than that no other news to report really.
Oh, I went to a local chemist/health shop at lunch with my manager (he's losing weight aswell) as they have a scale which works out your BF% (I know its prob not going to be uber reliable, but I was just interested more than anything) So it had me weighing in about 8lbs heavier than this morning (Hopefully due to me being fully clothed, incl jacket and shoes, plus my breakie and dinner and 2 litres of water in my system!!)
But gave me a BF% of 18.6%, which was certainly much better than I thought. Even if its out by 5% I will still be happy!
Anyways, off home in a bit and having baked fish, baked potato with some rocket, spinach and watercress salad

I started the HIIT about a week and a half ago and I must say it is kicking my arse. I had surgery on my knee about 6 months ago, so I don't do HIIT on the treadmill. I do most of it on a stationary bike or elyptical. On the bike, I pedal at 50-60 rpm's for 40 seconds and try to stay between 85-95 rpm's for 20 seconds. I do this for about 40 minutes (with a towel over my head) and I generally burn about 700 calories during that time. By the time I am done... there is a puddle of sweat below me.
I also believe I started a new trend at the gym. I am sure most at my gym do not know what HIIT is, but they are really liking the "towel over the head" theory. I've caught a few people doing it lately.
Good luck with your workout tonight... Take care! |

Rep Power: 42 | | One thing about HIIT that a lot of people overlook is that you are not supposed to do it every time. Once or twice a week is enough. The idea is that by alternating the intensity it will up your metabolism even when not working out. This "tricks" your body into burning more calories over the course of the day. If you went at a steady pace for a longer time you would end up burning more calories then you did with HIIT, but you wouldn't get the same lasting effects.
By doing HIIT every workout you are not giving that extra kick each time, so in total you are burning less but making it harder on yourself. Go with the once a week and then the other days go for a longer workout.
Also, the 20 sec/40 sec is a killer. 30/90 is a lot easier to start out with. Just see how many cycles you can do at that. One more thing, I tried doing it on a treadmill and nearly killed myself trying to constantly change the speed. Now I only do it on a cycle or elliptical machine. |

Trend setter eh? Lets see if it spreads across the world!! |

I was thinking once a week would be enough (mainly because I would prob die if I was to do anymore!!)
30/90 sounds more realistic at this stage, Im planning on making this a regular thing in my exercise routine, so I want to do it the best way possible, to not only get the greatest benefits, but also not to do myself a mischief
Thanks again for the advice |

Rep Power: 8 | | So weighed in this morning, and another 4lbs down
I've worked my backside off this week in HapKiDo and its definately payed off!
So as Im reaching my initial target goal, Im starting to focus more on my general fitness and physique, and not just the weight loss.
I really want to start focusing on lifting and resistance training, and Im excited about this next stage of the journey!
Like I've said previously, Im happy that my food choices and indeed my food knowledge is at a level where I can continue with no problems. Saying that, Im still lower than I should be in regards to the calories, but Im making sure that the majority of my calories are coming from Protein, and that Im getting all the vits and mins that I need. Although this is something I will have to address when I start focusing on the weights!
Anyway, the title of my Diary is still true for now, Im nearly there...although I dont know if I will ever reach the end, as I dont think I will ever be truely finished trying to improve my health, physique and more importantly my happiness.
EDIT: Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!

Rep Power: 8 | | Im sooooooo bored!
Currently at work, and nothing is happening..NOTHING!!
On the plus side, im able to sit here and watch 'American History X' whilst getting paid, so its not all bad
Well what to write..mhmmmm
I guess now that im reaching my goal, Im starting to shift focus on other areas of weight loss/fitness...some positive, some negative.
Positive: Im really looking forward to 'hitting the weights' and get some of the strength and definition back thats been lost through my weight loss.
Negative: Loose skin Its really starting to get me down..everyone keeps saying how healthy and...urrghh "skinny" I look (I hate that word, I'll come back to it) But when I look down, I still see a big stomach. I know that this is mainly due to my excess skin, and trust me, Ive got quite a bit. But its really starting to affect my happiness, and its also really starting to dent my newly found confidence.
I was talking with my g/f last night about this, she says that a few close family members are worried because they think Im getting too obsessed with my weight!?!
Well, NO!! Im merely being sensible with what goes into my body (apart from the ciggys )
Its frustrating to me when people 'recommend' me to stop losing weight, my BMI is currently 26.1 (OVERWEIGHT!!!) and although this is only an indication, I still 'feel' overweight, and I know my body better than anybody else right?
Anyway, Im going to go to the docs once my BMI is a little lower to see if I qualify for surgery to remove my excess skin.(They wont even consider me for surgery unless my BMI is around 22) There are alot of factors to whether or not I will qualify, mainly my postcode (area code)....which sucks.
Anyway, I guess the most important thing is that Im healthier, and will hopefully lead a longer life (once I stomp the smoking out)..
All I want is to be happy with my body, and with my excess skin, thats not gonna happen.. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
