UGH! I've got this major burst of energy at 2 AM and don't know what to do with it! The gym's closed! I'm sitting here, dancing in my chair! The music's blasting... hope I don't get a noise complaint from the neighbors! |

Rep Power: 13 | | You guys dont have 24 hour gyms in your town? Mine has 3. Thank god too cuz I pretty much only go after 10pm'. And that was my excuse before they opened about a year and a half ago, "I have college and work all day when can i go to the gym?" |

congrats on embarking on this adventure, it was hard for me and I only had 40 pounds to lose I really admire people who know they will have a long way to go and still manage to make this choice.
You seem to be doing well on the gymfront, good for you for going. I remember how hard it was to go in the beginning... heck it is still hard, I actually do not really go to the gym at the mo, I go swimming and walk, but in the last 11 months I have gone through and tried several different sports (running, which I liked but isn't feasible anymore, rollerblading, which was fun but never a good time to do it, elliptical, which was alright, but boring...) and eventually I just decided to stick to what I know I will be able to do for the "rest of my life", or at least for as long as possible: swimming and going for walks!
What I am a tad concerned at, when I look at your diary is your menu... it seems a bit limited and your calories seem quite low. You are (still but not for long anymore ) a big person and just living you will burn a lot of calories, plus you are going to the gym now, maybe you should see what your basic metabolic rate is and then work out how much you should eat, because it doesn't look to me like you are eating enough. If you are not eating enough you are prone to falling off the bandwagon! I have been on the boards for almost a year now and I can tell you, eating too little is not a good thing!
Work out how much you need, how much you use and then create a small deficit, that will in the long term insure that you are losing consistantly.
I hope you don't feel like I am lecturing you or I am mean spirited, I just know that feeling, i tend to do that myself actually, just try to eat a little as possible and hope for a quicker weight loss, but I also know that after a week or 2 or 4 of starving myself I will just gorge on everything I would not allow myself and the feel horrible and give up and gain a few pounds in the long run.
You want to change your lifestyle, not do a diet or anything. Once you have changed the way you perceive food, the weight will come off easily (more or less), but you really need to change habits, so that they do not come back with a vengeance.
Anyhow, I am glad you have support here and at home (it feels like at least), and you can always come and cry on our shoulder, we are here, we have each of us tried something slightly different and we all had different results, but the ones that are still around after a while are those who are losing weight and have found something that works for them. You just have to find what works for you!
Have a great week, Camy
P/s: you may want to check out some diaries of people who have come the way you will have come in some months, check out wishes (she has great pictures of herself during her transformation), omega (who has walked her weight off like no one and is such an inspiration) and mal (who has tried it all and finally found her new lifestyle). |

Rep Power: 4 | | Ashley- Yeah, there is a 24-hour gym here called Anytime, but they just recently built it. Besides, I can't drive because I have Epilepsy.
Starting Weight: 340
Current Weight: 334
Today's Menu:
- 1 packet weight control oatmeal
- 1 Tbsp. peanut butter (after this jar, I'm switching to natural, reduced fat!)
- half of a chicken breast
- little bit of leftover rice and pea mix from yesterday
- cookie (oops!)
So I've gained two pounds back. I figured most of what I had lost was water weight, but I'm still disappointed. I knew this was going to be hard, but the reality of what a bitch it's going to be really hit me hard tonight. I'm sure that my weight will constantly be fluctuating. I also know that I've been having a few sips of Pepsi here, a little spaghetti here, and that definitely doesn't help. Also, I haven't been drinking as much water as I should be. Tonight, I did 15 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of arms. I could only do 15 minutes of cardio because my ankles were killing me! I don't know why; usually I'm fine after doing cardio. I suppose it's better than nothing, but I know I could've done better.
My number one goal for this week will be to drink more water. |

Rep Power: 4 | | Camy- You don't sound like you're lecturing at all. I really question my caloric intake as well. But it's not that I'm making a conscious choice to "starve" myself. I just don't eat when I don't feel like eating, and there's not a lot of food in the house right now. Thank you for the concern. I just wish there was some way to get more calories.

Rep Power: 4 | | I don't even wanna get started on what I ate today. I will say, however, that I can tell how my diet is affecting my digestive system. All I ate today was crap. And that, in turn, led to some gastrointestinal pains. I guess seeing that I gained back two pounds and a slight disagreement that I had with Larry yesterday really bummed me out. Oh well. I'm not going to make a big deal of it. I'm just going to get back up on my feet and do things right again. No giving up, no matter what! |

I know it can be tough but dont let other issues effect your weight loss. two pounds is nothing and is probably water weight. JUst put the day of bad eating behind you. You cant undo that. JUst focus on doing what you need to do. Keep it up, you can do this.

Rep Power: 53 | | Gina, I just want to jump in here as a new friend for you. I started at 389 lbs. Yeah I'm guy, yeah I'm taller, okay so what? Still gotta lose the weight to be healthy right? Still gotta do it if we want to feel good about our appearance right?
I'm around halfway to my goal now. I've had so many ups and downs (still do), I couldn't possibly try to count 'em. The important thing is more down than up (weight wise) and more up than down (attitude wise).
I'm with you on some of your thoughts too. Quitting the junk food addiction, or stress eating? Worse than the cigarettes, at least for me. I was a pack to pack and a half smoker for 25 years. Haven't touched one in 3 months now. Not one. Ate a few candy bars last weekend though...
You have all of the right reasons for doing this, and, plenty of time, so don't stress about things like how many lbs you do or don't lose in a day...
Stop by my journal sometime. I do some good stuff, but believe me I do my share of dumb shit too... we're all human. I'll check in on you too whenever I can... |

that is a great menu. Watch your calories, you might be able to eat a little more if you are hungry. I see you have already lost 9 lbs which is amazing. The best piece of advise i can give you is do not get on the scale everyday. Pick a day and use that as your weigh in day. Trust me, you will drive yourself crazy if you do it every day. There are so many variables.
How is the exercise going?

Rep Power: 5 | | Your diet sounds incredible!! I wish I had the motivation to eat cottage cheese and crap like that...Hahaha, well maybe you actually like it. But to me, it tastes like...lets just not go there, shall we? Anyways, I'm REALLY impressed with your diet! Don't worry about the cheat...I think a lot of us cheated around halloween. I know it's really hard, but keep it up. Your weight will fall off really quickly, especially in the beginning!!
Good luck
