How much do you take? I take 150 mg; I had my thyroid taken out last June. If that is the reason I was so tired I'll be so thrilled! lol |

I know before I was on the meds I was always really tired and weak.. you probably were too and when the meds kicked in it was like I have more energy.. and when I forget it I'm dragging.. I only take 25mg.. MUCH smaller dose than you but if it makes me tired I'd say thats probably what it is for you.. but don't hold me to it bc thats just the way my body responds and I'm no doc lol |

I think I'm actually excited about weight loss so much that I'm actually finding it difficult to sleep all night; its an anxious feeling in my stomach.
| I know the feeling. That in itself is what will help ensure our successes for sure!
You're lucky to just be able to pull your roots and move over to the UK. That's neat. I am sure it keeps your life very interesting.
Your expectations & goals look great to me. I am confident that you'll do well.

Rep Power: 5 | | I'm 10 pounds down since the 5 of January, and on Sunday I ran an entire 5k. It took me 35 minutes, maybe more that that, but I was just focusing on keeping pace the whole time. I'm thrilled about both.
Last night I looked at myself in the mirror before I took a shower, and first of all my arms look huge, as in big and muscular. They are the spot that I lose last, so I know once my body fat is down they won't look so bad, but right now they just look disproportionate next to my upper chest area which is deflating and I'm starting to see ribs in again. Overall though, I'm seeing a positive difference and am happy.
My husband diets with me and has already lost anything he put on since May when he came to the States to marry and collect me. Its not fair lol. He should eat a bit more (but won't because he doesnt' like to eat more than I can in front of me - because he's that awesome ) Its alright because after the challenge, we're going to take a maintenence break for a week or two before we continue on.
The only thing that annoys me is that he won't exercise. He is now in the last half of his last year doing a history degree that he's dreamed about for 10years, and not working. He's probably going to get a first-class degree - which for Americans is like getting a GPA of 3.6 or higher. (He had a 3.9 in his semester at UMASS). Its the most important thing in our lives, and I mean that sincerely, I've done everything I can to support it including moving here instead of asking him to move to America. But its bull when he says he doesn't have the time. 30 minutes 3 times a week to do some calisthenics or something is not hard to find. He mentioned not wanting to lose muscle and I told him he has been because you need to lift weights to prevent muscle loss, and he said "well then I guess I'll have to atrophy because I don't have the time".
I'm pretty sure it was a just a reactionary statement and he'll think about it some more and be closer to exercise. He was asking about membership fees at the gym when he picked me up on Sunday. He's just very averse to the time and money it would take right now.
Its just difficult for me because as my values make fitness more and more important to me, we become further apart on it and I don't want that to happen. He's the most important thing in the world to me and sometimes I consider not going any further with this fitness stuff so that we won't diverge too far in interests. Thing is, I want to be thin and fit for him and for us! So our relationship makes it reason for me to continue and to stop (well, not stop but just not progress a lot more). This sounds more ridiculous as I see it written, I know, but it is how I feel.
He'll probably get around to it; he used to go often to a gym before he started university. But he plans on a masters and Ph.D. and then to be a historian in a university. If he doesnt' have time now, when will he! But I don't want to explain to him in any stronger a way than I already have because I won't choose his values for him. The thing that makes us such a great couple is that we let each other be who we are and support that.
I just really want to avoid that dreaded common statement: We just grew apart. |

Rep Power: 53 | | | Gen, do not worry... I have been in the same position for years... its nice to have common interests, and I would love it if my wife wanted to come ot and exercise with me...
But she doesn't. As important t me as it is rigth now, it isn't so much for her. We have not grown apart, we've been married for over 21 years, we are more in love now than ever. |

Rep Power: 22 | | Hey Gen!! Just returning a drop in!! Looks like you are doing great! The focus and dedication is important, and you have it!! A few words about the "doing this while married" thing... Your hubby married you because of WHO you are, and LIKEWISE I am sure. Fitness is now becoming more important to you and that is great, but if he isn't so into it, I wouldn't worry too much. As you start acheiving the goals you want to acheive, maybe that will get him excited and wanting to share in the "FUN"!! You only grow apart, if one of the people involved in the relationship wants to!!! Keep the love, and try to find a physical activity you BOTH like.... I'm sure you can think of a few!! Have good ones Gen. |

Rep Power: 5 | | Thanks guys, I know you're both right. We don't have to be carbon copies of each other, or siamese twins or anything like that. And we're not at all either; he has hobbies, I have different hobbies. I think we have a good balance going actually. I just overthink everything, and really want to keep this being married to him thing going well. |

| I know exactly what you mean. I'm in that position too. My wife HATES to exercise at all, and she HATES healthy food. In the end, I did manage to get her to go on walks with me by enticing to do it in beautiful places & nice parks, etc. She loves it now.
My wife and I are so different in many ways, but our marriage is very strong. I guess, the most important stuff like how to raise a child, where one wants to live, and how the money should be spent... Are the 3 things that has to the same between a married couple, for it to work good. Everything else doesn't matter. It can be different.
Well done on everything!

Rep Power: 5 | | I've become one of those wierdos who eats (and likes) strange things that I put together for the maconutrients! I have a salad for lunch with bacon, cottage cheese and refried beans on it! And I can't wait!
Also, I've come up with the perfect plan for me, for now anyway. I alternate low carb days with low carb dinners. Monday was low carb for breakfast and lunch but normal carbs at dinner and tuesday was normal carbs for breakfast and lunch but no/low carbs at dinner, etc. etc. It REALLY helps keep my calories down for the day and I'm not depressed from eating low carb all the time (which is what happens to me as I am a big time carb addict!) I end up with calories to spare at night for a treat (usually hot chocolate - last time I put vanilla protein powder in it and it was REALLY GOOD!
AND, I've found that a omelet made with 1.5 eggs plus .5 eggwhite (half of a 3 egg plus one white omlet my husband and I share) holds me over well past lunchtime at work. I don't eat my lunch until 2! It's amazing!
I can freaking do this!!!
I think I'm having a good day lol |

Rep Power: 5 | | I just want to apologize to all my teammates for getting drunk and ordering take out last night... ... I'm back on today.
I bought brand new running shoes from an expert yesterday who recorded me running and told me I over pronate when I run. I knew that anyway. The annoying thing is that even though I have new shoes now I still have to wait for my legs to heal up from running this week (only two times! ugh!) before I can resume with these shoes! And then I still have to "start out slow". Like I complained to my husband, I've been trying to run for over a year now (kind of) how much slower can I get!?!? The trouble is, my lungs can handle 30 minutes running, but my legs can only handle 15. Its SO frustrating; especially when I keep reading tips and schedules for runners to get up and running regularly within a certain time line. They invariably include running 3 to 5 times a week. I can only do one or two. Anyway, the shoes are supposed to help.
So now, I just bought a running book on Amazon. I can't wait for it to get here! I went to buy body fat calipers and added two things from my wishlist...
My husband and I did this body fat measurement test online that tells you what your body fat percentage is based on measurements like hips, waist, thigh, calf and wrist (the male and female versions are different.) I got 20.5% and he got 15.5% and neither of us believe that we are really that fit, so that's why I decided to get the calipers.
At least it helped a bit with my husband though because he's been unhappy with his BMI for forever. It says hes just shy of being obese and let me tell you he's not! Its ridiculous. He's got thick, muscular tree trunks for legs and he's not a wirey guy. He's not built up or anything, just genetically lucky in the lean body mass department. I've been telling him this forever and he's closer to believing me now.
Anyway, now I just can't wait for my book! And my legs to cooperate! Always waiting... lol |

| Just curious is your husband native British? If he is, it probably has a lot to do with the cultural difference. America has an obesity problem, so we're used to seeing it around us to the point that we're almost numb to it.
I hope your legs feel better soon!

Rep Power: 5 | | He is and I think you're right; that and the fact that he's just kind of hard on himself anyway.
I got my book and am reading it now! The plan is to run for 10 - 15 min on Sunday.
And I think I'm closer to 25% bodyfat after trying the new calipers - just like I thought. |
