Rep Power: 41 | | firstly i just want to say welcome to the forum
it is possible to break the computer game addiction, I was addicted UO (Ultima Online) the first of the MMORPG's for years. it is not a matter of giving up but reducing the amount of time you spend playing.
unfortunately you are right about the wii fit board, it has a max weight (110 kg) it can handle, but don't let that discourage you.
Good luck, i will drop in and check on ya fom time to time |

Rep Power: 6 | | LMAO, lizzie!!! i didnt mean to say avatar, I meant profile pic. but the avatar isnt bad either! ...wow I acctually laughed out loud... my coworkers looked at me funny....
I'm good enough in rock band to go through the expert guitar, but since i play it for real and like the real thing better, i stick to the drums or vocals. I'm not good at either, but as they say, practice makes perfect.
I'll try not to bore you with too many details about my routine. I see my trainer 2-4 times per week.
One day we will do a push up gauntlet, which my record is 183 pushups for the hour. I like doing push ups so he gives me various types to do. My fav is the 1 foot inclined slaps (feet placed 2 -3 feet above the floor on a stool, one foot raised and slap your shoulder with the hand opposite of the raised foot).
Another hour session will be spent doing different types of pushing exercises for the chest. 95lb dumbbells in each hand no incline on the bench, 85lb dumbells on an incline and flys with 55lbs. all three sets of 8-12 with 1-2 minutes between. Dips with my body weight 32-34.
Another workout we do is for my back. Flat rows on the bench 120lbs weight in hand 10-12 times x3. Twist rows 120lbs in hand 12 times x3 and pull ups 32-34 with my body weight.
All sessions have 15 minutes of cardio core training.
Hey, you asked. Thanks Lizzie!
Conkel,
I feel like I'm similar to you. When I first lost the 60lbs, I was so excited, felt great , quit games, went out etc...
That excitement has passed a long time ago and now im in the smae rut as before i lost the weight... because i havent lost weight, just gained muscle (not complaining, just saying). A problem of mine is that I watched the number on the scale too much. I feel like when resistance training and losing weight, the number shouldnt matter too much becaus eyou'll be gaining muscle, so the number might not change unless your really working hard. Which besides the training... I wasn't.
thanks for the compliment. |

Hi Pho,
LOL I love that clip. It's tough not to feel embarrased that, 1. I couldn't control my own body and 2. now i can't control my playtime on a game. In a way it makes me feel like i lose and I hate that. It's discouraging, you know? I'm in a good state of mind now, and on my way to 'recovery', just a matter of time. Thanks!
Hey tru,
I thought the wii fit comment i made was accurate. I wasn't too interested in playing that game, but I do feel like the board would cry.
It does seem like the only way to get rid of the beast that is WoW is to just slowly get off of it. Do you ever feel like going back to play UO? |

Rep Power: 41 | | my family still has 2 accounts but mine is not active at the moment, it is a game i have been playing for over 10 years on and off. My training for my next lifting comp keeps my mind away from the computer
btw the wii fit DOES yelp when i stand on it lol
I need to have achievable goal to keep me away from the computer and a change of career also helped (I am no longer a web developer).
drop in and say hi in the chat if you see me on |

I am currently playing COD WatW and FarCry2. I still play TrackMania a bit too.
Budget the time you are online - and don't do "10 more minutes...just 10 more minutes"...
Good luck amigo - we're all pulling for you.

Rep Power: 6 | | Ok, just got back from the gym. Did 1 hour with my trainer and 45 min of cardio. Eating was good today, although there is still some time left until the day is over.
Lets see how it ends. Protein shake should hold me over for at least an hour. |

I know what you mean about feeling embarrassed... I can still feel that for letting myself get as overweight as I did. But I truly hope it is something I can chalk up to a lesson learned and not go there again.
When you're feeling a little discouraged by the numbers on the scale not moving... take a look at how your clothing is fitting, how you're feeling. Could just be muscle gain/fat loss.
And don't forget to keep posting progress pics, that first 60 was pretty dramatic. Quote:

Jim | My husband plays COD WatW with a couple of his buddies at work. Other games I see him playing currently are NASCAR 09, the new Hulk game, Lego Star Wars and others. I can't get over how incredible the graphics have gotten on video games... I remember playing on the Atari 2600 fer crying out loud.

Quick update.
I'm drunk in a hookah bar and realized that controlling myself while drink is near imposiible. I'll have to work on this. Was good all day. Had cho plate chip pancakes at my friends birthday dinner with a waffle. Wow I can eat. Got to control myself more. |

Sounds like you are doing well. What an exercise regime you have going on!
I have quite a few friends who play WoW and like you have become addicted to it! I think you are making a smart move by weaning yourself off it slowly, Im not a big gamer but my husband has a xbox360 and I have become a big fan of the Lara Croft games.I also went out and bought Universal Dance stage for the xbox, I am going to a bit modest here and say I can dance but damn that game gives you are run for your money!Great form of exercise.
I will pop in now and then see how you are going!! Keep it up!! |

Rep Power: 6 | | thanks for the support the game is evil...in large doses. i didnt do too good with my weaning this weekend. Although I did go out while I was here i played alot. Not as much as I normally would but enough.
Quick update. Had only healthy food today. Didnt eat any Nutrisystem food, though. I'm sure thats not a problem as long as i dont go crazy with calories.
Had grilled chicken with pineapple rings and carmelized onions (didnt eat them). lots of hummus and 2 and 1/2 low car pita.
Had sweet potatoe fries and some other veggies. |

Rep Power: 6 | | True. Making progress, the game, after these few days of not worrying about playing with my friends, does not hook me like it did. I acctually stop naturally and dont continue although I'm bored. I like that.
Update:
This week is a tough one diet wise.
Today I have a dentist appointment at 6pm after work.
Tuesday I have an optometry appointment after work.
Wednesday workout with the trainer.
Thursday go to the nutritionist and then work out with trainer.
Friday go to PA for a snowboarding weekend.
Saturday snowboard and sunday relax.
I'm going to have to work extra hard to get to the gym more than 2 times this week. I think I can do it, have to be strong. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
