Hi. I'm 7 pounds away from my goal weight. My problem is binge eating. I keep reading articles that say you need to find out the real reason why you binge eat (unresolved fellings...) in order to stop. My problem is I don't have any. I have a lot of stress, I work full time and I'm a full time student. But I think I handle the stress well. I eat good all week, but on the weekends, if there is a bag of M&M's in front of me, I eat all of them. I can't control myself. Especially Ice Cream, I can't stop at 1 big bowl, I always go for a second helping. I can't stop until I feel overstuffed and ready to burst. If any one can help, it would be greatly appreciated. I hate when I feel this way, I end up feeling guilty and depressed.
hey buddybear! well believe me i've been reading articles about binge eating, emotional eating and eating disorders in general and if those articles suceeded in doing one thing it would be leaving me even more stressed out! now i simply try to 4get about the "why" and focus on the "how"...stop trying to figure out what ur problem is when it comes to stress coz it will turn out to be simply "life", it's part of our human nature just try to focus on how u deal with it...
anyway i think the reason why u eat more on weekends is becoz it's ur time off so u have loads of free time which can be bad at times so u start 'thinking' about food when in fact u may not even be hungry to begin with! so to cut things short this is what i do and i think u should too:
- try to keep urself busy on ur spare time doing sth u like, sth that makes u both happy and relaxed (indulging urself and all but just take 'food' off ur mind somehow)
- try to go out more becoz when u're out with ur friends hanging out somewhere it is less likely for u to go eating huge amounts of food, in fact u won't even be thinking about it to begin with...
i hope this works for u as it did for me and don't hesitate to ask for support when u need it, we're all here for u =)
