The diary of a Franchise Player.

Evening folks. I'm not quite sure if anybody who reads this, if you do you're very welcome to contribute, if you don't fancy it, that's cool. (I say this because I have a small feeling that this diary will not be the most entertaining read ever. Apart from a swell title.)

A little info on myself. My name's Adam, I'm six foot four and I currently weigh 266lbs. I'm currently out of work which is bad for so many reasons. One is that I have a LOT of time on my hands and no money to do anything with it. That creates my biggest enemy. Boredom. You know what this 'Boredom' guy does the most? He makes me eat food. That's my biggest obstacle right now.

My big plan is to hit (to me) the magical 200lb mark. My dad is 2 inches shorter than I am and he weighs about 210lbs, but he's not exactly in great shape, so I think 200lbs is an excellent benchmark for myself.

Many people will tell you the best ways to lose weight are diet and exercise. I'm doing well with the diet so far, the exercise part is what's going to cause me problems. Due to my size and weight, i've never been an athletic person. I can't run more than 10 seconds without looking for a gun or something to shoot myself. I've yet to find one. My friend told me to try the 100 pushup challenge earlier. I almost made.. 1!

So that's that taken care of. I can't do exercise. But I can eat well. Sometimes.

Over the coming weeks and months you'll read some very sarcastic comments from myself about my life long stuggle with weight and how it's going.

So if you're faint hearted or easily bored, stay clear of this thread.

Let the good times roll, baby!

Thumbs up

Hello The Franchise,

What about going for a nice walk? Especially when that Boredom fella comes a roamin'....

Do you have a lake/pond/ocean near by? Public Pool that is free? What kind of activities do you enjoy?

There's a guy on here, his name is Mikeoz ( I think there is an r in there somewheres), you'd think I could remember since I have chatted with him a few.... He is 6'3 I believe, I also have a half cousin that is 6'5 Female, and a few years ago she took it upon herself to lose quite a bit of weight, and did it!! WOOT!! So now that we know Height has nothing to do with being able to exercise.....well....I am sure you'll get the hang of it. No matter how slow/long it takes you.

Also wanted to add...GREAT START!!! You're here, it's a Awesome Community full of vibrant and Supportive people!! I know you can do it!!

TTYL

P.S. here he is:

Hey, thankyou for that.

Weather permitting (I'm just not a fan of walking in the rain) I will go for a walk every day. Usually down to the shop to buy my mum whatever shopping she needs. Also just to pass the time really. Unfortunately, the little village I have doesn't have much in the way of activity. The only things that are here are, and I can honestly quote myself on this:

Houses
FOUR pubs (and this is a small village too, i'm talking a mile if less)
Two chinese takeaways (hilariously, they're next door to each other)
Two indian take aways
One post office
One Somerfield
One park.
THREE hairdresses
...........

That's my little village.

Every Tuesday I play snooker, there's a hall in the next village along, it's about half a mile there. I have started walking there every Tuesday, this was before my diet. I figured as part of my exercise, i'd walk there & back every day. Well, I did it once. About half way through the return leg, I found my legs getting heavy, and worst of all.. My legs would chafe together.

My legs chafing together would actually have me yearn for the easy days of shooting myself.

There's this one lil town that I know has TWO Tanning Salons, it's CRRRAAAZZYY!!!

Well now that we know the problem..Legs Chaffing together, we can fix it, , now you can just google and fly in the best Runner's Lube, it's for anti-chaffing...

Nonono Put that BB Gun away, those are for the Gopher's!! lil fackers LOL

I'm not joking.. They're actually building another hairdresses. I feel so sorry for the local gents barber, because he's been here for many, many, many years. He can't compete with the fancy new places, though.

His prices can, he cuts my hair & it only costs a fiver. Not bad at all.

I'm very, very happy today. The day didn't start well with my attempt at a press-up again. I got down easily enough, it was getting back up again, actually pressing up, that failed me. I just don't have the upper body strength to lift my large bulk back again.

Shame I couldn't be a spectator watching myself instead.. It would have been hilarious to watch.

Tonights finished on an awesome note. I weighed myself & i've just dropped slightly under the 19 stone mark.. Something I haven't done for a very, very, very long time.

It's nice to see some results from all the hard work*.

Next stop.. 18 1/2 stone!

*Not eating food I REALLY want to.

For your pushups start with an easier varient. If you can't do a full pushup (up on your toes) try doing them with your knees on the ground, if that is still a little hard do them with your hands on a chair or against a wall. you will gain strength resonably quickly and will be doing full pushups in no time

your off to a good start, Welcome to the forum.

BTW you havn't seen a booooring diary till you have seen mine lol

Hey there and welcome to you! Great start, by making the commitment to change your lifestyle, and starting to Journal every thing you are well underway!!! I hate exercise too, so can relate, but it is a matter of just moving more.. anything at first is fine.. walk.. jump up and down.. jiggle your wobbly bits.. whatever! just start to move and keep moving!

Well done and keep up the good work

One thing i've always wondered..

People who jog or run & people who walk..

What would the difference be if I ran a mile or if I walked a mile?

I almost managed a press-up! These are dark times. I've just been for a 20 minute brisk walk & returned sweating and crying out for somebody to pour water on me.

Something tells me my 19 stone frame will not be cut out for regular exercising.

65lbs to go...

When I first started walking, it felt like a death march. I recall quite vividly approaching a downhill street and thinking, "Maybe I should try rolling down this hill. And maybe if I'm really, really lucky, I'll find myself having an exotic date with the bumper of some foreign car." The fantasy remains unfulfilled.

Chafing is an entirely different animal. I haven't experienced it for quite sometime, but I wouldn't complain much if it did happen. At least I'd be getting some sort of action between my legs.

Anyway, it sounds like you're off to a fine start.

hey

hey franchise, welcome to the forums..I'm not quite the same build as you are, I started out at 249 lbs and am right at 6'1", but I did have the chaffing issue at first, I used a product called body glide. it is the only one that I have ever tried but it works very well in my opinion. And thank god that we can lose weight with diet and excersize as opposed to just excersize, you can diet and do what you can until you drop some weight and then try the higher intensity excersizes again until you are able to comfortably (lol) do them. I look forward to watching you progress on here, there's lots of help here so don't hessitate to ask, and stay away from the guns

Thanks for the input guys. My plan from day one was never to bust out 20 mile sprints immediately. I've started with the diet and a walk around the village every day only, and it's been working. As you can see from the image in my sig, that's from the 1st of May, so we're on the way. As for the chafing issue, i'll have a look around my town tomorrow to see if I can pick something up. There's not that many places that would have them, though, one is JJB, who unfortunately I left a few months ago with some.. choice words. Not a happy place to work.

I'm now curious as to how calorie filled jacket potatoes are. I've had them twice this week and they REALLY fill me up. It's very rare that something fills me up that I love eating, so i'm now wary about their calories. Anybody have a general idea? The potatoes my family buys are from a local farm and we just get them in a big sack. So it doesn't really carry numbers on it.

& while i'm on the topic, how does anti-chafing work? Google search shows me that it's a stick (at least, the one that was recommended just) so does that not get sticky? I'm not looking forward to walking half way back and having to dive into a bush to take my trousers down!

chaffing

Body glide looks just like a deoderant stick, I wouldn't say it's sticky at all, but.....I don't know how to put this, think of applying a very thin extra layer of skin on your legs, that's sort of how it feels, after you apply it, immeadiately after I mean, you can definately tell you have it on, but after a few steps you don't even notice it. and then when I ran with it, I couldn't tell at all either, just didnt chafe. Hope this helps.

Yeah thanks man. I'll have a look tomorrow see what I can find. It's disappointing because I CAN walk long distances, I enjoy it too, when I have music with me, I could walk forever.. It's just after a certain amount of time, I physically can't do it because it hurts so.

Cheers anyway.
