I didn't even hit my target yet, so I have room to eat a little more before I go to sleep in a few hours. I'll probably have a hardboiled egg or two and maybe another glass of chocolate milk.
Here is what I ate today:
Breakfast - Beef Tips and Noodles, mug of chocolate milk, vitamin
Snack - 10 animal crackers, water
Lunch - Half a small boneless chicken breast, water
Snack - 1.5 cups of grapes, 1 sugar free vanilla pudding cup, water
Snack - 10 animal crackers, 2 graham crackers, water
Snack - 10 animal crackers, 2 graham crackers, mug of chocolate milk
I have a couple of things to note about todays food consumption. For one, no dinner! I just snacked over a course of a few hours. I'm not so sure if that is a good thing or not... Two, a lot of the things I ate today were pretty much empty calories. The main reason for this is that I've run out of fruit to eat! I finished off the rest of the grapes today, and that was the last of all the fruit (or anything healthy, for that matter.) So unless I can get money to go shopping for myself tomorrow, that is it! All that is left are various frozen dinners (ew) So I guess I'm kind of in a pickle. Haha! Had I known my family was going to eat the stuff I bought too (that was a shock), I would have gotten more! Maybe there IS hope in this world that they'll follow my example..
Oh yea, and I only managed two bottles of water today.. still not bad.
My exercise today looked like this:
- 30 minute fast-paced walk outside, I hit some little hills, but none of the big ones I managed yesterday. I don't know exactly how many miles because I forgot my pedometer.
- 15 minutes on the swings at the park, I don't know if this qualifies as an "exercise" but hey, I wasn't just sitting there doing nothing.
- About 8 minutes of hitting the birdie back and forth (badminton)
Still not where I want to be as it comes to exercise. I'd like to get an hour a day at least. But it was raining pretty bad today, and I didn't want to walk in rain for long because of my throat. (I still did though, take that rain! Bad weather can't stop me!)
Ahhh how the excuses seem to be piling up today At least they are for somewhat genuine problems. I'll get it all figured out though, no worries.
I'm truely excited about my first weigh in. I'll get to adjust my ticker! I feel 1000% better already! And lighter too! I'm confident I will have lost weight. My goal is 2 lbs this week, but if it's less, I really wouldn't mind. I feel too good to let it get to me.
If it's more, well then.. I'm going to be jumping up and down in excitement! | Yeah, I'd say you definitely didn't eat enough today. And what you ate (animal crackers) was even, um, less optimal.
Beef tips are tasty, yum.
With the chicken, try and throw some vegetables in, like a salad. I'm going to go on and on about salad, sorry. I like salad. A lot. I like my veg raw whenever possible. And it is so fast and easy. And cheap.
Chocolate milk - I know it probably helps salve the sweet tooth, but how about 1% plain milk? I don't have a huge problem with chocolate milk, really, but it dies have extra sugar in it.
On the up side, a lot of chocolate milk is made from 1% milk, so you are getting less fat.
BTW - crackers of almost any kind are notoriously bad for (empty) calories and fat. I like to use dry breakfast cereal for snacking (and I don't mean Captain Crunch or Count Chocula - I mean halfway healthy cereals). That's what I use to replace potato chips and similar nasty snacks in my diet. Although I admit that I do eat graham wafers occasionally. Just not as a meal.
As far as meals versus grazing, I don't think it matters too much. You will find people here who are strong 3 meal a day advocates, others that say no you must eat six small meals a day, and others who just snack. I say that you do what works best for you. I would suggest making sure you eat often enough that you don't find your energy or mood crashing, and so that you don't find yourself ravenously hungry ('cause that's when you are likely to binge on something). Eat so that you are happy and not hungry.
Otherwise, it looks like you are off to a great start. You calorie targets look sensible, and the goal on your ticker looks very sensible. You have a good head on your shoulders. |

Thanks for the advice! I agree, I didn't eat enough. I'm going to have another small meal before I go to sleep (I'm very much a night person so I stay up late and sleep into the afternoon)
The chocolate milk I drink is 1% and how I do love it so! I'm not a fan of regular milk though.. in cereal it is good, but otherwise, not so much. I don't really drink it that much usually, but for right now it's good as a soda substitute for me. It gives me the flavor I don't get from water. And I'd much rather have a small glass of chocolate milk than a cookie or a piece of cake or something. So I guess it's my "treat" haha
And as for the crackers, they just seemed safer to me than anything else left in the house right now. I admit I do eat animal crackers a lot more than I should, but that is just another thing I'll have to work on as I progress |

I'm off to bed. Have to get up in six hours for work.
Good night. |

Rep Power: 4 | | Day 4 -- AGHHHHH I just woke up and am NOT in a good mood at all! Just one of those days where you wake up on the wrong side of the bed I guess.
And to make matters worse, my mom and stepdad weren't here when I got up. (That's not the bad part, of course) When I called moms cell, she said she was at the store picking up some "food" and that she was leaving now. I asked her if she got any veggies or fruit and she said "Oh nope, I forgot." This, of course, is bogus. She and Paul did not forget, and they know it. So that kind of annoyed me. I'll have to wait until they get home to see if there is any money left and go myself again. *Sigh*
We'll see if this mood lasts the rest of the day. Now... what to eat for breakfast... |

Rep Power: 4 | | Day 4 -Continued What I ate today:
Breakfast - Half a large orange
Snack - 1 Sugar Free Vanilla Pudding cup, water
Lunch - Half of 1/4 pound burger with mozz. cheese (nothing else, I like my
burgers plain or with pickles only ) 1 mug of chocolate
milk with vitamin, water
Snack - 1 cup blackberries, 1 mug of chocolate milk, water
Dinner - ??? Haven't decided yet (Maybe rest of burger?)
Exercise I did today:
2 games of Badminton + a little practice beforehand
I did manage to get to the store today and got a few things to eat. My mood did improve as the day went on I usually snap out of it pretty quick and this time was no different. The two games of badminton with my mom helped, I accidently whacked her on the forehead when I hit the birdie back at one point.. I haven't laughed that hard in weeks!
I haven't added up my calories yet, but I imagine I'm very short. I didn't eat too much today and I didn't move as much as I wanted to either.. strange how when you eat things that are actually good for you and are watching your diet, it's a struggle to meet your calorie goal.
And still no vegetables! Hmph. Going to have to change that, aren't we? It'll have to wait for another two or three days though, when the paycheck comes in.
Paul (stepdad) bought coke today for his icecream float and I wasn't even tempted to have some, so that's good! It's still in the fridge, but I'm confident I won't have any. I'm not allowing myself to even look at soda until 30 days have gone by. Then maybe a little every once in a great (GREAT) while if there is nothing else..
My mom tested her sugar today, and while it is still higher than what it should be, it was much lower than it was before. I'm almost positive it is because she's been eating many of the things I have. Very happy about that
Alright, I think I'll have my dinner now. Let's see... the rest of my burger anddddd... some grapes sound good
Still very excited about the weigh in coming up. I've refused to get on the scale yet, so it'll be a total surprise! I just hope I'm in the 190s again

There can be great spin-off benefits for your family when you start making positive lifestyle changes. Sometimes they end up coming along too. |

Rep Power: 3 | | | nice job with getting your mom into the activities you are doing and food you are eating. I'm sure when she realized it is helping she will be thankful.
seems like you're doing great with the no cokes!!!
Do you buy chocolate milk or make it yourself? If you buy it you could switch to the powder and put less and less into the milk. When i feel like a cold treat like that i have really diluted chocolate milk but it still feels like a treat...just a thought! |

Rep Power: 7 | | Hey! Doing good Girl!!
Hope your weigh in goes well! (when ever you do it.. lol)
Im still a little concerned about your eating though, Breakfast, as we all know is the most important meal of the day, and half an orange isnt gonna cut it love..I dont mean to be a buzz kill or anything, but im thinking if you dont start eating a little more, you may be setting yourelf up for failure .. (I really dont wanna be a buzz kill, sorry )
Good job though! |

Rep Power: 4 | | | Day 5 - You win some, you lose some To babymomma: Yea, I noticed that too. I find it difficult to eat a lot when I first wake up. I'll work on it though, that is for sure! Thanks for checking in on me! My weigh in is on Thursdays!
To Cord and PEC: I'm drinking the store-bought stuff, I think it's another thing I'll have to cut back on, as it was with soda. I'm just afraid that if I don't replace the coke with something else with some flavor then I'll have a "relapse" but maybe I'm just making excuses I think I may try what Cord suggested or just cut it out altogether.
What I ate today:
Breakfast - 1 cup of grapes, 1 mug of chocolate milk, vitamin
Lunch (about an hour and a half later) - a slice of PIZZA! (thin crust, pepperoni and cheese) , and 1 mug of chocolate milk
Snack - Half cup of blackberries, ANOTHER slice of pizza! , and water
Dinner - A frozen alfredo dinner thingy, 1.5 cups of pre-shredded mozz. cheese water
Snack - More grapes, water
The horror, the horror! I think that calories today will have gotten close to my target.. we'll have to see.. but all the food I ate was of the wrong things! I felt fine after the first slice of pizza, because it was really thin crust and didn't have very much topping on it. And then when I decided to have the second piece, I started thinking to myself "Do I need this?" which I didn't but I ate it anyway. And then by the time the frozen meal and cheese thing came up, my will power went out the window and before you know it I had eaten both in record time. I felt guilty after, and quite shocked with myself. Just like: "Where did THAT come from?" You know?
I'm not the type to give up or anything (that's never going to happen), but I was disapointed. I know it's not a BIG deal, but I guess I'll just have to be a little more cautious and start making sure I get all that my body needs, including calories.. I'm pretty confident that was why I was craving those things.. because I don't even like frozen dinners or ANY sort.. I just had the urge to shovel it in. I need to eat more, I think. Of the RIGHT things.
Here's what I did exercise wise today:
- 30 minute walk around town at a quicker pace than usual
- Another 30 minute walk (later on) hitting 2 or 3 steep hills
- Ran up and down a staircase 3 times in the park
- Managed to do 10 situps at once, and 1.5 pushups (lol! Yea, I know, I
practically have olympic strength. Go me.)
So I was happy that I got one whole hour of moving in today
I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I get the chance to prove I can have a successful day exercising AND eating! (Just you wait ) Overall today was an okay day. I did learn some things, if nothing else. Tomorrow I'm aiming to drink all water (no chocolate milk) have a big healthy breakfast, reach my calorie goal, and get an hour of exercise in!
No problem!
And I just realized: THURSDAY IS RAPIDLY APPROACHING! Yay I get to (hopefully!) adjust my ticker for the first time! |

Rep Power: 46 | | Hey, don't bang your head against the wall.
Truth to tell, you had a good day. Pizza is not evil, in fact it probably gave you calories you badly needed.
One slice is no problem. Problem is when (like me) the temptation is to eat the whole damn thing.
You should try to start eating some vegetables, though. Low-calorie, high bulk, high fibre, lots of micronutrients.
Um, was that 1.5 cups of shredded mozza on top of the microwave dinner?
Nice level of activity. Climbing stairs is excellent. I have a co-worker who used that as his primary form of exercise. |
