Rep Power: 4 | | | Day 6 - Delicious! Alright Today I tried to eat more than I have been, and I think I did pretty well. No chocolate milk today because I wanted to see how I would do with just water for awhile.
Breakfast - 1 banana, a salad (with a lot of romaine lettuce, sliced up baked chicken breast with no skin, and a bit of parmesan cheese for flavor)
Snack - 1 banana, 4 vanilla wafers, water
Lunch - Another salad with same stuff in it (Because I love it ), 5 strawberries, water
Snack - 15 Vanilla Wafers, 3 slices of Sharp Chedder cheese, water
Dinner - a serving of Tuna Noodles (210 cals worth of No-Yolk egg noodles, 1 can of Tuna, 1 can of Cream of Mushroom Soup), water
"Dessert" - Another serving of Tuna Noodles (This is my #1 favorite food so I couldn't help myself, was so worth the second helping too, lol.) more water
Still no veggies (apart from lettuce) but there simply isn't any in the house. I will get some though, I promise. Today was pretty much my ideal day as far as the taste of food goes. It was filled with all my favorite foods!
If I added up my calories right today (I always question how accurate I am...) I hit my target right on the head. Exercises done today:
- A 30 minute walk, hit 2 big hills but the rest was relatively easy
- 12 situps (Two more than yesterday! Woot! Lol!)
I had planned to do more exercising today, but my mom had bought The Sims 3 while I was still sleeping, so guess what I've been doing for most of the day? |

Really, that's excellent. It probably is mostly water, but that's always the first step, so it's still all good.
Keep it up, Sunshine! |

Rep Power: 4 | | | Day 8 - Ermm... Well, this is going to be painful to say...
I had a can of Coca-cola today
Thursdays are Bingo night (Leave me alone, I like hanging out with senior citizens playing bingo over hanging out with teenagers my own age) and basically this is how my day all went down:
3:30pm - I wake up to mom walking in my room asking if I'm planning to get ready anytime soon. I accidently slept in. (That's probably an understatement, I REALLY slept in lol)
3:45 - I have a quick breakfast, no time to exercise, I get ready to go.
4:30 - We leave to go to the bingo hall, I know they sell soda there so I prepare myself by bringing water.
5:30 - I'm doing well.. but my water is almost gone..
6:30 - The ladies sitting next to me have just purchased ice cold delicious coke and are now drinking it in front of me. I stare at my now empty water bottle.
6:40 - My sister and mom buy 2 cans of soda for themselves.. the cans make that really alluring "kshhh.. cha-chink" sound as they open them. I'm sitting there drooling...
6:42 - My sister kindly (or evily?) offers me to buy me a coke, I politely refuse (while cursing her in my head)
6:50 - Now it seems every person in the building is drinking a soda.. I'm thirsty.
7:00 - I get up to go purchase another water.. my willpower is horribly weak...
7:03 - I'm walking back to my seat.. carrying a can of Coca-cola instead of a water bottle.
7:05 - I sit at the table staring at the stupid thing for 2 minutes, telling my mom all the reasons I shouldn't drink it. Being the nice mother she is, she tells me it isn't going to kill me to have one. This is the only excuse I need to gulp the thing down.
7:10 - I'm sitting there with an empty coke bottle, feeling upset with myself. Upset that I let a stupid can of cola get the better of me.
7:30 - All three of us are getting hungry. We have the option of candy bars or popcorn. I don't like popcorn, I eat a candy bar. I justify eating it with the excuse that I can't just STARVE, now can I?
8:00 - It's intermission time, mom and Amber go to the bathroom.. I decide I want another Candy bar, I go get one and eat it before they get back.
8:05 - Mom and Amber come back from bathroom, they bought more candy bars on the way back. They give me one, I stay mute about the one I just ate.
10:30pm - I get home, depressed that I didn't win anything, ate really crappy stuff, drank a coke, and didn't exercise. Mom and Amber go to bed right away, Paul (stepdad) is already sleeping. I can't exercise - too noisy to do so inside, too dark and creepy outside. I could at least do sit ups or walk in place or something, but I let that quickly slip my mind and plant my butt in the computer chair for 5 hours instead.
3:00am - I realize, to my horror, that I get to tell you all exactly what happened today. Feel instant regret.
So, prepare for my amazing awesome diet and exercise log:
What I ate:
Breakfast - 1 banana, 5 Vanilla wafers, 1 mug of chocolate milk + vitamin
Snack - (several hours later) 1 bottle of water, 1 can of Coke
Snack - 3 candy bars (2 kitkats, 1 bag of reeses m&ms)
Dinner - 1 salad (baked chicken breast with no skin, loads of romaine
lettuce, little bit of parmesan cheese) 10 vanilla wafers
Snack - 8 Vanilla wafers, mug of chocolate milk, big chunk of cheddar
cheese
Snack - Another banana, last couple vanilla wafers, a refill of chocolate milk (We'll have to throw it out soon, and I didn't want to waste it.. or so I told myself)
Exercise I did:
Notta darned thing. Sat in a chair allllllllllllllll day.
Keep in mind that I ate my "snacks" and dinner in record time. It all could have easily ended up being a lot worse if the idea of writing down that I had a "binge" the DAY after my really successful first weigh in didn't make me stop and cringe in horror. I'm thankful for this diary and this website, without it, I wouldn't have given a second thought about consuming everything in our kitchen!
I could have smacked myself earlier for today, but (oddly) I feel much better now after writing it all down. In fact, I'm just as optimistic and happy as ever. I know that it's all behind me now and tomorrow will be a fresh start. I will work extra hard tomorrow! I'll go for a walk, get out the Dance Dance Revolution mats, clean my room, lift canned goods, whatever I can. I promise. And when Bingo night rolls around again next Thursday, I'm going to be prepared. I'll bring my own meal and pack a whole case of bottled water if I have to.
Oh right.. and tomorrow is Day 1 (again) of not drinking any coke. |

It happens.
I had part of a lime slurpee today. And a piece of chocolate cake. But that will go in my journal entry tomorrow.
Eating food because it is "about to go bad" - ha, I do that all the time.
And I'm glad to see that you realise the true power and usefulness of keeping a journal.
There's a weird kind of power in honestly laying out everything you did for perfect strangers to see.
It is often said that honesty begins with honesty to self, but I think maybe it really begins with having the guts to be honest to strangers - people that you could lie to if you wanted without repercussions, but you don't.
Good that you are using this as increased motivation to keep rolling. I love your optimism!
Remember - every day is a new day. A new chance to succeed. |

It is great to see you decided to change and you already had the first step. It is same here. I decided to change my unhealthy life style. Just like you, I was a coca-cola addict. I didn't even need water. But it's all changed. I gave up drinking cola last month. And on the 1st of June I started my so called diet but lets say "healthy eating habits".
I read your posts and just one advice- as far as I understand you don't get enough protein and fiber. That's not good. You should have at least 1200 calories a day and this depends on the person, maybe even more. I for instance have to get 1700 but since I am sick, I could only get 1200 calories a day so far. If you dont have enough calories, your body would hit plateau which means you would stop losing weight.
So try to eat healthy, remember our body, esp. the brain needs fat too. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me.
Keep up the good work,
Dee |

So I had my training class yesterday and he (the coach) mention something about chocolate milk and i remembered reading about chocolate milk as a recovery drink. So if you really want your chocolate milk get the skim or at least 1% kind and drink it within 30-45 minutes after your workout. Just thought of you when i heard that! hope all is well. |

Rep Power: 4 | | | Day 9 - Feel the BURN To Cord - Thank you for the support, it means a lot to me. I appreciate this forum very much, it's packed with information and people with similar goals. Very helpful, indeed ^-^ And hey, at least it was only "part" of a lime slurpee and "a" piece of cake Could have been worse
To Dee - Thank you for stopping by! Yes, I realize that I still have some improvements that need to be made to my diet. I've always had issues getting enough fiber and protein, and it's just something I need to actively work on. These first two weeks or so I wanted to try to establish good habits and to just improve my diet as a whole. (ANYTHING would have been better than what it was before) I'll soon begin to start tweaking things here and there to get all that I need. And wow, a fellow coke-addict, eh? I was the same way.. I never drank water! You're doing well so far, keep it up! I know how difficult it can be..
To PEC - That article was interesting! Thanks for thinking of me I do drink 1% choc. milk, but I've been cutting back these last few days. I'll have to remember that if I do have a glass, I should have it after my workout.
___________
Alright and now onto todays summary! It went much better than yesterday, that is for sure. I felt like my normal happy-go-lucky self today and that makes it much easier to exercise and choose better things. Food is getting scarce in the house again and my options are running low, but I think I did quite well considering. And I did great with my exercising!
What I ate:
Breakfast - a small steak (about 3/4 the size of my fist) 1 Corn on the cob with just a little itty bit of butter, water, vitamin
Snack - 5 large strawberries, lots more water, 6 animal crackers
Lunch - 1 apple, a handful of animal crackers (love them, if you couldn't tell lol) 1 boiled egg, water
Snack - Another small handful of animal crackers, a slice of cheddar cheese, another boiled egg, water
Dinner - 1 ring bologna sandwich on white bread (plain, I'm very much a plain jane when it comes to food. I like things simple and not mixed together, lol) 1 small glass of chocolate milk
Dessert - 1.5 cups of blackberries! YUM
Corn is a vegetable right? Okay I know I know, I need more veggies! Next time we go shopping, that's the first thing on my list to get!
Exercise I got today:
- Walked 3.13 miles (according to my pedometer) at varying speeds. I even managed to run 3 blocks. Hit 3 big hills, the rest was a mixture of small hills, flat pavement, and trails.
- Hit the stairs at the park, walked up and down 3 times
- Almost 2 pushups
- 15 sit ups
- 18 squats
- 15 minutes of cat catching (I have indoor cats, one got outside, need I say more? lol!)
The walk really got my heart pounding and I was completely out of breath by the time I got home. The rest of the stuff I listed I did mainly so I could add more things to my diary, hahaha. Whatever gets me to do it, I guess. |

Rep Power: 46 | | Wow - a much better day for you! Great work.
Getting more protein, which is good.
You already admitted you need more vegetables, so I won't add to that.
Bologna sandwich on white bread - maybe switch to lean deli roast beef or turkey and whole wheat bread - that would make it 100% better.
I laughed at what you said about liking your food plain - I'm often the same way. I tend to make my sandwiches with just bread and meat. I take the lettuce and tomato out of my burgers and eat them separately. I know, I'm weird.
Very good on your activities and exercise. That cat catching really takes work. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
