Has already passed month from the beginning of your employment, and your userbar has not shifted. Can you tell more in detail about results?

Hey Pavel and Running Girl.

So, RunningGirl, thanks sooooo much for your encouragement. I am getting really discouraged with my lack of discipline and failure to lose ANYTHING. I think you're right. I should just try and change one or two things at a time rather than expect myself to just eat perfect and exercise all the time. It's just not realistic. My shoes for runs/walks are okay. It is when I am working that my feet hurt. I think it is standing all day that does it. Oddly, I wear my running shoes for work because they are the most supportive, but it doesn't matter. I guess maybe it is just a function of standing all day that makes them sore. I will try your suggestion for the foot massage. I like that idea!

Thanks, too for telling me how you made progress, RunningGirl. It is nice to know that you didn't do this all at once. It is really motivating to see how you have accomplished so much. I'll keep trying, and not give up.

As you may have gathered, Pavel, I haven't lost any weight at all. In fact, some days, I am MORE than 150 lbs. I haven't put that on my progress bar because it is too depressing.

However, I have made some changes in my lifestyle, not yet habits, but I'm gradually doing them more and more. I am eating more vegetables for sure. I am outside practically every day, and I am getting lots of biking and walking and jogging in recently. I am getting better at not bingeing at night, very hard for me, but it is less frequent than before.

My big stumbling blocks are alcohol, peanut butter, cheese, bread, and eating when I am at home. I just want to munch all day the minute I walk in the door. I am trying to bypass the fridge lately and go out to the balcony and take a moment to look at my plants instead. Then go take a shower or get ready to go outside or something.

I really haven't been consistent with my exercise. I think I will try to be more regular. My goal for right now is two run/walks every week, and two bike rides every week.. Since I did one walk/run today, I'll do another one on Thursday. Tomorrow I will bike, and then on Friday. The weekends, I am trying to do something special. I'm hoping to hike in Banff this weekend again, but we'll see. My brother who is handicapped got really sick and then because he was woozy, fell backwards and broke his wrist. Poor guy. Since I was going to go with my mum, if he doesn't feel quite a bit better by the weekend, we will cancel. So if we cancel, I will plan to do a riverbottom hike/bike with a picnic. So there. Something to look forward to anyways.

I really appreciate the feedback guys/girls as I have very low confidence in my ability to actually lose any weight right now. I do believe I can exercise though, so maybe by being better with that, weight loss will occur as a side effect?

Thanks so much for reading and commenting. I am glad to have you here!

Do not be upset. You already started, and that's cool. Now you need to find a solution suitable to you, and at you necessarily all will turn out...

I did a 22 km bike ride in the river valley this afternoon.
I admit, I was pretty slow after doing a few of those hills. I got slower and slower and slower as I went on, but I had no choice but to finish or I wouldn't be home now! It was great to be out in the sun. It really feels like summer now.

Also today, I ate pretty well.

2 fried eggs with green onions mixed in. Yum.
2 pieces whole wheat toast with peanut butter and jam.
Coffee

Two servings of homemade chickpea/potato/tomato/celery/carrot stew.

And TONNES of water because I was so thirsty after being outside.

Not such a bad day.

I haven't really been able to not eat past 7 the last few days because I am not home before 7 to make and eat supper. But I am doing all right with not overeating at supper and stopping after supper, not snacking all night.

I am going hiking again this weekend, in Jasper this time. Life is awesome at the moment.

Oh, and I have a date tomorrow!

I've done something!

Thanks Eymediaoutlet and RunningGirl for your continuuing encouragement!

GUESS WHAT?

I lost 2 pounds this week!
So now, I'll make Wednesday my Weigh-In day.
I am positive it is because of the water loss from all the exercise over the last few days, but I am going to treat it like a real loss because I don't want to get back up to 150 again. That part is DONE, I've decided.

I am sure that my running and biking and hiking over the last couple weeks has made a difference at least to my fitness, and as a side effect, has improved my eating habits slightly.

Since exercise is such a great motivator for me, I am going to keep doing it as a very regular thing. I'll just have to remember to do it on non-sunny days too!

This is going to be my routine til it gets to be winter weather.
Mondays - jog/walk
Tuesdays - bike ride
Wednesdays - video or walk
Thursdays - jog/walk
Fridays - bike ride
Weekends - something big, like a really good long walk or hike, or a bike ride that takes 3-4 hours. And I'll take one of the days off.

When school starts in September, and the weather gets cold, I'll switch to going to the gym to do some weight training twice a week instead of biking. I'm also going to register for ballet. I used to do it, and it is a hugely demanding work out with fabulous results.

So there. I'm not a total failure!

Just stopping by to say good morning!!!

AWESOME! I knew all that exercise would catch up eventually, good job on 2 pound loss!!

The plan looks GOOOD, do you do all your exercises OUTSIDE of a gym? as in, you don't have a gym membership?

Good morning back atcha, eymediaoutlet!

Nope. No gym membership. Can't afford one outside of what the school provides during the year. Poor student, that's me!

I know I should do more weight training and stuff, but I hate being indoors when I can be out, and I am too embarrassed to do push-ups and sit-ups and lunges etc. outdoors. I feel a little freaky and like I'm showing everyone, "Look, I'm exercising!" So I just run or bike or something 'normal'.

The only time I can stand exercising indoors is in winter at the gym or with a video that I can count down the minutes to when it is over, lol.

I would still prefer to be outdoors in the winter, but again, being a poor student, can't afford skiing and such. I used to cross-country, but I was using my Grandpa's old skis, and last year they went kaput and I can't get any more til I have a proper job.

Since I have only one more year of school left, I'll just use the gym and pool at school while I'm in class, and then when I have a proper job, I want to join the Edmonton rowing club, and start climbing and take dance classes to my heart's content. I will only go to the gym under duress. I'm a purist, I guess. I'd rather use my own body weight, and I'd rather use it to do something cool like learn an art or useful skill rather than clunk around in a gym.

Whew, I got a bit long-winded there, sorry!

Have a great rest of your day!

Hey Rachel, thanks for taking a look at my progress thread. I wanted to take a look at yours. Seems like you have a lot on your plate being a nursing student so I wish you the best of luck on your goals! Looks like you've accomplished a lot so far!

Chris

I went for a jog tonight, 6km running and about 1 km walking. Not bad for a non runner!
Also I biked about 40 minutes, not consecutively and not for exercise, but it's still activity.

I ate a dixie cup, one cookie, two slices of toast with PB and J, coffee, and a bowl of chickpea/tomatoe/celery/potato stew. And I'm full. My stomach was a bit upset today, so I didn't really feel like eating more.

Yesterday I broke the eating past 7 rule when I scarfed down my doggy bag from the sushi restaurant I went to earlier. Oops. Maybe that's why my stomach was upset all day.

Anyways, pretty good day for me!

Just got back from hiking in Jasper. Did Cavell Meadows yesterday, about 10 km, and then a horrible boring flat hike today, also about 10 km, but helllish. Yesterday's was so much better, even though it was steep. Got to see bits of glacier falling down, saw a baby elk stranded on a snowdrift. Today, the only nice thing was seeing a wolf. He stopped and studied us for a minute then trotted off. Otherwise, today sucked. But at least I got some exercise!
More later. Gotta s-lee -- ee -- p hhh

Walked 6 km yesterday. Didn't run, but my legs were so sore from hiking, I thought it was a better idea to give them a rest.

Still 148 on the scale this morning. No change from last week.
Went for a bike ride, slow and short, but I will do better today.
