Howdy Ho Neighbor!! happy to see you had a good 4th of July, thank gosh I can't drink liquor I would be three sheets to the wind off 2 of those Jolly Ranchers. LOL LOL I'll stick with my red wine. LOL

You would be proud, I made it to the gym tonight as promised. It wasn't easy and I seriously tried talking myself out of it twice. LOL LOL What the hell right. Did you get a work out in today???

I can't believe your eating raw veggies, did I read that right? I thought you didn't like most veggies, or am I thinking of someone else?? Straighten me out if I'm wrong. But that's fantastic! Veggies ROCK and I love them ALL raw! I'm sitting here eating a bowl of raw veggies as we speak, it's yummy!

Hope your evening is a good one, keep it up sister!

OMG!!!! I lost another half a pound and hit a new low of 144 lbs! I can't believe my efforts are finally paying off! I'm still very fearful that everything will stop again but here's to discovering new lows on a scale!

MLB, I'm so proud of you for making it to the gym. I assume it felt very good once you actually talked yourself into going. I'm supposed to go today but already dont feel like it. Wanna put it off one more day.. eeeeeeeeeeeek

Hey there Bella . Thank you for saying that, its appreciated. I'm eating different foods (almost a vegan diet), though the calories are the same as when I've dieted over the past few years but was NOT losing weight..I usually just go up and down the same 5 lbs, never hitting any new lows. I would never expect to lose weight when I'm eating normally and/or not exercising, but when you're eating 1600 calories a day and exercising 5 hours a week for 6 weeks straight and you just go up and down the same 5 lbs it gets so frustrating.

I have made some very drastic hormonal changes lately, mainly adding estrogen in the form of a birth control pill and also a testosterone blocker. My blood tests showed that I have low estrogen and high levels of testosterone, hence why I seem to keep my muscle tone no matter what. It seems the lack of estrogen may have caused the inability to lose weight. So it really didn't matter if I was in a "calorie deficit", that fat wasn't budging when my hormone levels were off. Now my weight loss may stop, and then I will have to re-look at this, but for now this is only happening since I started on these hormones about 2 weeks ago.

Hi Blancita- Looks like you're doing great!

It seems most people hit plateaus when they near their goal. I've thought about getting my hormone levels checked also.

Hey girl! I actually gained 12 pounds during the last 2 years of on and off again dieting. I was either eating below a normal maintenance level when dieting, or eating at maintenance when not. I was never just pigging out all the time, so clearly this is not about calories as many people seem to think. Rather, you can't magically lose weight without cutting calories, but when you do cut calories, you should lose and if you dont there's a problem. I think after I finish my book about bio-identical hormones (that had a hand in curing my mom of 7 years of severe illness), I will see if I can get this finetuned even more. So far I'm sleeping better too.

OK, now I will promise to get off my soap box about calories! I realize I'm repetitive about it but I guess it got me angry and frustrated, thinking things are my fault when I'm doing the right thing and my body is not cooperating. Will try to refrain from griping about this as I am just pleased how things are going the past few weeks. After 2 years of frustration, I'm so afraid things will come to a halt again .

Hey Blancita! It's great to hear the train is finally pulling away from the station! I think you're right, hormones do play a role, especially if they're connected to the insulin system thing. Amazing how you're eating more calories now yet losing weight - I think there may be something in this quiche thing!!! You're giving me cooking ideas I never had hon! Good for you to go all out on the fresh veg!!! I think I'll do the same!!

Glad you had fun at the BBQ... you deserved the fun food after the work you've put in! Keep going and don't be afraid because you'll get there! Thanks for your encouragement in my diary!

What a nice message of support from shinsplint! Seriously, thanks .

I packed a cherry tomatoe, cucumber salad for work since fruits and veggies are expensive down by where I work. I spent $16 yesterday on 2 fruit salads and a garden salad! After I have this I'll go out and get another salad (with less heavy things so its not so PRICEY) and also another fruit salad since I have to eat all my fruits and veggies or will get hungry. I started out the morning with a shake made of almond milk and 1/2 a canteloupe, plus I had an 8 grain bagel w/ butter when I got to work. Not sure what I'll do for dinner.. I certainly never thought I'd enjoy eating vegan, but I am!

Blancita- Vegan is like a secret little world isn't it? Glad we discovered it I can't wait until I can have grains and nuts.. that almond milk sounds so good right now.

If anyone asks me what vegans eat, i tell them to try eating only animal meat for a month. It's the veggies, grains, etc. that make it palatable.
