I welcome struggle and I welcome overcoming..

Wow, that sounded corny..

(Journal entry 10/4/2009)

Hello all!! You're probably curious what this blog is all about?? Oh great. Another blog about a person trying to lose weight, blah blah but ends up giving up in the middle... NOOO!!

This is a blog about my personal journey with personal identity and my determination and will to get to where I want to be. I meant where i WILL be. The idea is to inspire all who don't feel comfortable with themselves because of weight issues or any external features like height, looks, whatever.

The goal for this blog is to hopefully inspire others to reach their goals. So I invite you to comment, share and/or enjoy this blog and check up on me frequently to see how far we have come. Now sit back, and let's enjoy the ride!

A bit of where it all began- 10/4/09

i-welcome-struggle-i-welcome-overcoming-pb150406.jpg

This wet suit used to fit me nicely. Now, I got this big butt.. swell.

So I used to be an athlete my whole life... (at least I liked to think I was.. =) ) I worked out, had fun competing and never really had to worry about what I ate. It wasn't until my senior year in college when I was playing a little football with friends when I stepped into a tiny whole running full speed for a catch in the in-zone. Ouch. I tweaked my knee and next thing you know it, my sports life was over. I couldn't even have surgery. It was like being in injury purgatory. Not good enough to just walk it off and ice, nor bad enough to get surgery and then wait for physical therapy. It was wait one year, do not nothing then hopefully you can check for physical therapy. Damn

No one can ever prepare you for the effects of injury and what it can do to a person's mind. All I can say is, depression... Depression depression depression. One of man's/women's worst enemy. It's like a virus or poison that seeps into your bloodstream and takes over your body by making you do really dumb things like...

1. Eating all the time when you want
2. Sleeping in bed all day when you have things to get done.
3. Ignoring friends and family
4. Burning bridges and isolating yourself from the world
5. Eating some more making you feel like superman
6. Making you feel like the world is against you
7. Eating like eating is your best friend and you always want to be with him/her.
8. Wasting your money on materialistic things. hoping it will make up for what you don't have.
9. Slacking off in school
10. Slacking off at work
11. Did I say eating all the time yet?

That's just a bit of my past. Luckily for me, I got over at least half of that list except for some being the reason for this blog. Otherwise, my knee is a bit better and I can finally do some things that made me happy. My weight issues took me to as high as 180. Then consistently fluctuated from 140-160 depending on the season.. lol. But here's a quick overview of my body type, etc.. Here's to the journey!!

Stats:
26 year old male
5'5"
Athletic built
As light as 130
GOAL: 140

Who says getting rid of our fatty food is hard??? =/

i-welcome-struggle-i-welcome-overcoming-photo.jpg

I think I just jumped the gun. Twinkies, mmmmmmmm... KFC, (droooling)... Taro ice cream, relaxing.... Why throw away food that is still good?!?! It's not like it's spoiled or anything. Hehehe. I have been thinking about this for the past couple days and it has been stressing me out! So I came up with an idea.. here it is..

Instead of just eating everything just to get rid of it, or throwing it away, I will finish them but through time. Like I will eat one of the items once a day while eating healthy throughout the rest. So it will look something like this..

example:
Breakfast- Egg whites, 3oz. of chopped chicken breast, fruit.
Snack- Protein shake
Lunch- KFC
Snack- Fruit
Dinner- Something else healthy

But that's just an example so I don't splurge but at the same time finish the unhealthy stuff at the same time within a week or so.. You might be saying, "ummm, you're still eating the bad stuff, why not give it away??" Well.. personally I just don't want to get rid of it. I want to say goodbye! So from today, I am saying my farewellls...

p.s., Fried Rice from the local Thai restaurant that loves me.. mm mmm MMMmmmm!!

While I'm glad you found the forum and started a diary, spamming is not allowed here at WLF. I had to remove the links. Its one thing to say, "hey, i've got a blog" its another to drop the link in every post you make...that says to me that your just trying to drive traffic your way. This might not be your intention, and thats great, so I hope you carry on and continue posting, just no more link dropping.

.

I feel kinda embarrassed being put on the spot like that for everyone to see Korrie. A simple, "sorry, no link dropping" would have sufficed. But I hope I didn't disrespect anyone on this widely respected forum. I apologise if I have

Let's start over and continue with our journey everyone..

DAY 2... Ouch..

It's only like day 2 and dangit... This is as far as I have gone.. This is going to be a long ride for sure... asdklfjds!! lol

Ok, so I work as an EMT and I have real long days to the point where I can never have a regular meal. It's kind of like eating and then working out and lifting.. That's a no no, can't do that or else any of a number of things can happen in my digestive system... I don't need to explain cause you guys know and it's not very pleasant. haha..

Anyway, 3 snacks in between my "meals"... Protein shakes. 25grams each time..

Then for the meals, crap... I've had an Arby's bbq sandwich and one chicken leg with a little rice.. In between 12pm and 11pm, that's all I had. I don't think it's too bad to start off my new career in lossing 20+ pounds.. lol.. Obviously I can do a lot better, but I know last week I'd be alllll rice with fried chicken every chance I get.

Workout: None today, just work.. (That's no excuse, I know)

I'll be weighing myself once a week or bi-weekly. I'm not trying to get obsessed with the scale, just want to keep tab for recording.

Tomorrow: Weigh In. With picture so stay tuned!
