Rep Power: 0 | | | Kitty's Weightloss Journal! YAY!
My first journal post. I haven't tried journaling during weight loss yet so I'm hoping this is somewhat of a motivator.
I'm a 28 year old happily married RN living in Ontario Canada. I've been overweight virtually all my life. I was maybe only chubby/big until I hit about 10, then I just got fat!! I'm 5'6" and currently weigh 237 lbs. My highest weight ever was 263 lbs. I managed to lose 70 lbs in 2003 down to 193 lbs. But didnt keep up the healthy lifestyle and managed to get back up to 245 lbs. I've yo-yo'd since then. Back down to 205 lbs, back up to 237 lbs where I am right now. I'm about a size 18, at my lightest I was a 13/14 and I loved it! My first goal is 180 lbs. My family doctor thinks 170 lbs would be a good final goal for me, but we'll see when I get to my first goal!!
Today is sort of a right off, although I know it shouldnt be, but I'm awful if i dont get a good morning start...so tomorrow it is. I'm going to try to write nearly everyday, however with 12 hour shifts at the hospital, I may not write on work days (well for the day shift anyways). I want to use this as a sort of food and exercise journal, as well as to just write how I'm feeling and hopefuly stay motivated!
I already know my weakness is mornings. If I sleep in, when I get up I just want to eat breakfast and sit like a lump doing nothing. Working actually gets me eating better since I pack a lunch and have breakfast set out so I just eat what's there. I'm also eat often when i'm bored or sad, so emotional eating is another thing I'm going to have to break.
Well here goes nothing. I know I can do this as I have been successful in the past. Now it's time to do it again!!!! Wish me luck!!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Ok, so nothing has been going at all yet... But it's definitely been a rough couple of days at work. My eating has actually been pretty good considering, but of course tonight is a potluck night at work.
I hope to come back here soon and post at what a great day of exercising and healthy eating I've had.... |

Wish you all the best with your weight loss! I think it's about making little changes, and taking steps towards your goal. This way it becomes apart of your lifestyle. At least, that's what I have to tell instant-gratification self.
All the best,
Amy |

Thanks for leaving comments!
YAY! I'm done work until Monday! I have 5 days to get into a healthy routine!!! I find that when I'm working, I eat good on my day shifts, because I eat what I pack but I dont feel like exercising. Then when I switch to nights, everyone brings in snacks and I eat bad. I find that once I'm on a roll I stick to the roll, so 5 days of roll are coming!!!!
I joined fitday.com too! Great suggestion!!! I'm going to start when I wake up from my nap today (I just got off work at 7am, so I have to nap, then my real day starts). I did my measurements on there and they are a bit disappointing...I'm definitely pear-shaped!!! Eeep!! I also made a final FINAL weight loss goal. I know it's far away, but I think ultimately I should weight 150 lbs. Right now my first goal is 180, but I'm just excited at thinking of getting below 200!!!! I actually get butterflies thinking of it!!!!
Ok, I feel like I could write forever but I need to get to sleep soon so I can wake up and start my healthy new life!!!!
Wish me luck everyone! |

Yay, day 1 is done!!!! Well the night is still young, but if I need to snack, I plan to have just some raw almonds.
I ate very very healthy today! Lots of veggies!!!
I had a Lunabar for breakfast with a glass of milk. Slept through lunch since I got off nights last night but ate a bunch of broccoli and carrots with dip (low cal) when I got up. Then did a Taebo video and some crunches and squats, so about 30 minutes of exercise. For supper we had M&M's stuffed chicken breasts which are only 160 calories each, with some green beans. i also had a few pieces of cheese and maybe a mouthful of mashed potatoes. Oh, and some V8! I'm still under 1200 calories, so I probably should have some almonds in a bit. I dont want it to be too low.
So hurray for a good start!!! Now, if I can keep it up for a year!!! I will definitely be at my goal weight!!!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Day 2 is almost done!!!
I did pretty good today too! I ate fairly well, I had a few more Tostitos and salsa then i planned on this evening, but that's ok as it still came in my caloric goal since I ate so well earlier in the day. I had a meeting today and they had TONS of smarties and were passing them around and I didnt have any. I know most people would say I should deny myself and had a few, but I know that I cant do that. If i had one, i'd end up eating a ton, so that's a big step in the right direction for me. I know once I have a better handle on my cravings i can let myself have little treats...but not yet.
I did my Taebo tape again today, but I'm feeling like I need to step up the exercise. I am tired at the end, and a bit sore the next day, but it's only a 30 minute tape and i feel that I really need to do some more. anyone have good exercise video recommendations? I like doing the videos. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Controlling intake is only one half of weight control. Exercise is the other half. Both eating and exercise need to be fun if one is to keep it up for the long haul. Ask yourself what your needs are regarding making exercise enjoyable. Do you need socialization with it or do you need to be accomplishing something beyond controlling your weight. Good luck on your journey. |

Had a pretty good day. I did a different exercise video that was much more challenging. I'm feeling a bit sore already!!!
We had friends over tonight so I had a few glasses of wine and some snacks (some veggies and dip, as well as some cheese and crackers and salami). So I'm sure not the best choice, but I decided I have to live once in awhile. I tried to heavily lean to the veggies so I'm sure I'm ok. I'm not adding it to fitday though because I didnt measure anything out....so back to that again tomorrow.
Wow it's late. See you all in the morning....well it will probably be closer to noon....LOL! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Alright, so day 4 is coming to an end.
I didnt have the greatest day. My stomach has been off all day (and I'm not hung over as I didnt drink enough for that). My eating has been so so, I probably actually havent eaten enough due to upset stomach, but my food choices havent been the greatest either. i didnt get in enough veggies today but with the state of my stomach, breads were the best thing to stick with.
I skipped exercising too due to my not feeling well. My workout yesterday must have been great though has I'm fairly sore today!
Well I'm going to watching a movie with hubby and go to bed earlier so that I can hopefully wake up refreshed and good to go again tomorrow. |

Rep Power: 72 | | One thing that will help a lot if you have alcohol is to drink a full glass of water when you're done drinking, and then drink another one when you wake up the next morning. Alcohol will cause you to be dehydrated (over and above the diuretic effect) - even if you didn't drink a lot, a few glasses of wine or a couple of drinks can mess you up. Especially if you're not a regular drinker.
Another suggestion is that even though you didn't measure anything, at least try to estimate how much you ate, and log it. It's a good idea to get into the habit. I do it when I eat out, even if I'm not 100% positive. At least it gives me some kind of guideline. |

And I decided to weigh myself....and I'm exactly the same! ERG!!!!!!
Thanks for the suggestions Kara. I do the drinking water with alcohol thing but maybe I should drink even more. I just hate too because then I pee so much! LOL!!
Ya I should really do the foodlog thing anyways, I'm going to have to improve on that.
I'm quite upset I didnt lose anything....maybe I'm bloated?? I thought I was doing really well. The first time I lost all my weight I remember losing like 7 lbs in the first week! I know it hasnt quite been a week but still. I think today I may invest in a digital scale so i can at least see if I've lost less than a pound...plus I wont be squinting at the scale! LOL!! |

Rep Power: 72 | | Yeah, the alcohol will keep you from losing a few pounds. It's water retention. Your body retains water to counter the dehydration. I usually drop a couple of pounds a few days after I go out drinking with friends. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
