Rep Power: 0 | | When I get some time, Maverick. I'm gonna post some of these recipes (in the appropriate forum.)
In the meantime, I was a pretty good boy yesterday. The day started out suspiciously - a hot cup of tea with a boston cream donut (yeah, I know - what was I thinking?)
But lunch was simply a chicken Yucatan soup with a side plate of Hummus, Carrots, Olives and Pita bread slices.
Dinner was a delicious chilli (with bacon bits in it) my gf's Mum cooked up for us - but I ate it on it's own...i.e. no rice.
So all in all, a fairly reasonable amount of food and calories.
And the good news is, I hit the scales today at 248.6 lbs.
How I can fluctuate by 3.4 lbs from one day to the next is a bit wild - but that's exactly what happened. Anyway - I'm back in the 240's baby!!!!
Time to celebrate....
p.s. I just got back from the Gym as well! What a good boy I am these days. |

A weird day yesterday.
Started out good.
Avocado, Pomegranate and a bowl of veggie chili for the first half of the day.
And a trip to the gym: 30 mins on an exercise machine and a bunch of weights.
Good start, no?
But then, things went a little haywire when I went out for the evening to see a film. First there was a whole packet of Mentos (I tricked myself into thinking I could just eat one) and a can of Orange soda during the film.
Nevermind. The plan was to get back home and have a vegan curry (I'd already made it) for dinner - with no rice.
But then on the walk back home, I was struck with a ravenous hunger (the exercise kicking in!) and when I passed one of my favourite burrito joints, I couldn't resist popping in for a large beef satay burrito.
Alright, one little indulgence won't hurt. I exercised. I earned it. So I resumed my plan to continue home for that vegan curry.
But the hunger wasn't satiated. And when I passed one of the many culprits who sell those Jamaican Beef Patties (a real weakness on my part), I couldn't resist grabbing a couple.
Alright, so I was officially off the rails here. So much for my plan - it's like they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
So I got home, re-evaluating my plan. Maybe I should skip the vegan curry - surely I'd taken in enough calories?
So I waited. I was safe at home, no bad influences......
.....UNTIL.....
My girlfriend, who was out with friends, arrived home pickled out of her mind! On route, she'd picked up slices of PIZZA and a bag of groceries. (She's sort of on a diet as well but she was having one of those drunken, eat everything in sight, breakdowns.)
So....
The next thing I know, I'm eating a slice of pizza, a plate of McCain French Fries, Tortilla Chips with Salsa and a can of Limonata Soda. (Enough empty calories to fuel a small platoon for an entire day.)
So it was with grim resignation that I hit the scales today, knowing full well that a return to the 250's was surely inevitable....
...however....
Fate has smiled upon me.
I clocked in at a measley 249.4 lbs!!!!!
Whew.....!
I somewhat survived a day of insanity. Alright, try to keep it together today.....(that's the plan....) |

Rep Power: 0 | | Don't sweat days like that man: I know all to well the perils of having 'just one treat', it seems to cascade down until you're eating enough for a dozen people and still want more. After you finished eating, did you feel happy/satiated? When I binge like that recently I end up feeling bloated and gross, and try to use those feelings to dissuade myself from the next binge.
Mark it down as a cheat day and pick up your diet like it never happened! |

Mark it down as a cheat day and pick up your diet like it never happened! | That's exactly what I did! But thanks for the encouragement. I've said this before - I'm not being monastic here. I will have bad days. But at the same time, I'm overweight (actually, according to my BMI, I'm OBESE!) so I think of myself as in "recovery" right now. When I get down to a manageable weight, I'll allow myself the occasional 'binge' day once in a while - but for now, I've had more than enough of them to tide me over.
But anyway, I picked right up on the diet.
Yesterday (Sunday), I was a very good boy. Organic cereal with soy milk for breakfast. California salad for lunch. Vegan stew and chicken noodle soup for dinner.
When I hit the scales today (Monday), I was..... 249 lbs!
Yay! A loss of .4 lbs!
Anyway, today (Monday), I wasn't quite as good, but I wasn't bad either.
Skipped breakfast (just a cup of tea.) Not by choice - but cos I was in a bit of a mad dash.
I had a Halibut Burrito for (very late) lunch.
For dinner, I had a classic california salad, followed by a small bowl of tortilla chips with salsa for a late snack (and a bottle of beer.)
All in all, not a terribly bad day.
Also, I went on a major grocery expedition today - for salad material, fresh juice materials, homemade soup materials, sri lankan shrimp curry materials and homemade hummus materials. I plan to have quite a bit of fun in the kitchen this week. (And hopefully some trips to the gym as well - although I doubt I'll be going until Wed). |

I like it. A nice, slow steady, gradual weight loss.
Just what I planned....(just gotta keep this on track). |

Rep Power: 0 | | Yesterday, I had a fresh carrot/apple/ginger juice for breakfast, a beef burrito for lunch and a california salad for dinner (with some chocolate coated cookies and a couple of beers later in the night.)
Today, I hit the scales at the exact same as the previous day, so I'm holding steady at 248.6 lbs. Not bad. (At least there's no gain.) |

Rep Power: 0 | | | A slight decrease today....248.4 lbs.
Yesterday, it was eggs on toast with cheese and spring mix.
Fresh juice made of beets, raspberries and apples.
Lunch was homemade humus with pita crisps and a bowl of edamame.
No dinner to speak of - just more of the humus and crisps.
(A bottle of beer as well).
It's weird for me to skip dinner like that but I was working late and didn't have any time to prepare anything and I just settled for more of the humus.
All in all, a reasonably low calorie day. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Up a little today. Currently at 249.
Yesterday, I had juice, a salad and for dinner, a homemade sri lankan shrimp curry with lemon basmati rice.
Problem is, it was so delicious, we ate loads of it! I can't imagine how much of the rice I had.
But anyway, I had a friend staying with me all week. The good news is, I didn't really gain anything. The bad news is, I'm not really dropping weight. I'm constantly hovering in the late 240's.
There was a huge missing piece of the puzzle this week though: the gym.
Without exercising, I'm not gonna lose weight unless I starve myself.
And because I don't wanna starve myself, this coming week the goal is..... THE GYM, THE GYM, THE GYM!!!!!!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Edging ever closer to the dreaded 250's.....
Hit the scales today at 249.6.
Not surprised. My food situation was all over the place yesterday and very CARB intensive. Basically, I need to go shopping and was scavaging the cupboards looking for stuff to eat.
2 slices of Apple pie (courtesy of our neighbour)
2 pieces of toast with cheese and salami
A bowl of brown rice with a potato curry
4 pieces of toast with marmite
2 pieces of toast with marmalade
a bowl of maple syrup flavoured oatmeal
a pomegranate
Definitely not an ideal diet.
Anyway, guess where I'm going now. That's right.... THE GYM!!!!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | I haven't weighed in for a few days - mainly because when I last checked, I was edging my way slowly up to the 250's again. And truthfully, there's no reason to assume I'm NOT in the 250's now - I just don't feel like facing the music and confirming the bad news.
Anyway, I haven't been to the gym since Saturday but I'm planning to go today (time permitting.)
But even if I don't manage to get to the gym today, I'm gonna go for a run later tonight. I have to start working out regularly and I can't keep making excusing because of time and schedule....etc. So there you have it. That's my main goal at the moment. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Alright, it's been a while since I've updated this.
I was getting sick of watching my weight yo-yo back and forth between the late 240's and the early 250's.
So I have finally put together an exercise regime.
On Monday, I thought I would ease into things with a Kundalini yoga class. Sometimes the classes are easy. Sometimes they're brutal.
Just my luck: my first one was brutal. Lots of lower ab work.
On Tuesday, I did a muscle works class. It was INSANELY painful!
On Wed, being so beaten up from the previous two days, I just did 30 mins on an elliptical machine.
Today, my body it toast - I'm still everwhere, even my eyelids - but I'm still going to the gym. (But I'll probably take it a bit easy.)
And today is also the beginning of a 14 day Scarsdale diet. I had my Christmas work party last night - and I have a dinner on the 24th - so I have a perfect 14 day window - with no dinner obligations - to do this diet.
I weighed in at 252.2 lbs today - a bit more than when I last weighed myself but thankfully, nowhere near as much as I thought. I was worried I'd already be back at 260. So I'm happy with my starting point.
Anyway, today the diet begins.....
Bring on the dry toast and the grapefruits....
Wish me luck! |

Back in the 240's!
I'm on day five of my 14 day diet. But the best part is, I'm hit the gym for the past seven days in a row. Eventually, I only want to hit the gym four or five days a week but to establish the habit, I'm doing 30 days consecutively.
Even after 7 days, it's starting to become habitual.
I've been doing cardio machines, weight machines, yoga classes and an absolutely brutal muscle works class that left me jellified (and in agony a couple of days later.)
But I've been alternating exercises so I don't overdo it on one particular set of muscles. Right now, my upper body is toast from the weight machines - so today, I'm just doing the elliptical machine and leaving the weights alone. |

I am now pretty much at my final weight following the ten day cleanse I did in November.
So the diet's going well. A couple of deviations here and there but not enough to completely derail me. I'll be dieting until the 23rd - and then I'm off for the holidays.
I know I'm gonna gain weight on the holidays. It's inevitable (even though I'm gonna try to be reasonably good.)
But the workouts are going well. Except for yesterday, I went to the gym 11 days in a row, doing a variety of things, from machines and weights to different classes. (I like the classes - they push you to do things far beyond what you'd force yourself to do.)
But I'm thrilled to report this weight loss! It makes all the deprivation meaningful! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
