Welcome to the board Good luck with your journey.
I've noticed that posts don't always go answered- like the welcome board. Diaries can be like that too...Just make sure to bump them reguarly by updating!
You should probably sign up with Fitday.com and start logging in your food. It will tell you alllll about the cals and nutrition for the food your eating, but if your with WW they'll keep track of the points/cals at least (but not the nutrients!)
Anways, good luck!

| I totally feel your pain here. I had pretzels and an apple for lunch while everyone else had Lawry's BBQ stuffed baked potatoes. *sniffle* |

Rep Power: 0 | | Hey! Welcome to the boards
Hope your first WW meeting goes well! I went to one of those once and the only thing I can remember from it was a good recipe they gave us, which I actually forget now! :P Looking at your food journal, it seems like you aren't getting enough calories. I mean, I don't know what you daily targets are or how many calories are in everything you ate, but just from briefly looking at it maybe you should add some fruits or veggies or more protein? (Have to admit, I'm a hypocrite about the fruit and veggies thing :P)
Good job resisting the McDonalds! I was in a similar situation the other night when a few of my friends and I stopped there and they all got fries and large sodas and chicken nuggets, but I just got a milkshake (bad for you, but not as bad as a big meal!) I mentally calculated the calories in their meals and concluded mine was the lowest haha.
Good luck with the weight loss! Not sure if you're working out, but I definitely suggest it

Rep Power: 85 | | Chips tend not to be a good food choice for weight control - but can be made in an acceptable manner. I posted this elsewhere on this forum some time ago... Quote:

The following recipe is classed within their plans as being free on green or extra easy... Chips, eggs and beans 908g/2lb medium-sized Maris Piper potatoes
Fry Light
Eggs
Loads of baked beans
Sea salt
Malt vinegar
1. Preheat the oven to 240°C/Gas 9. Peel the potatoes and remove any blemishes or ‘eyes’. Slice lengthways into chips approximately 1cm/½inch thick.
2. Bring a large saucepan of salted water to the boil. Add the chips and cook for 4 minutes. Drain and leave aside for 10 minutes to dry.
3. Return the chips to the dry saucepan, cover with a lid and shake to ‘rough up’ the edges of the chips. Spray a metal baking tray with Fry Light. Transfer the chips to the tray, spray lightly with Fry Light and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides
4. Meanwhile, lightly spray a frying pan with Fry Light. Break your eggs into the pan and heat until the white is solid. Flip over if you like your eggs well done, or leave sunny side up for a runny yolk. Pour the baked beans into a sauce pan and gently heat until warmed through.
5. Drain the chips on kitchen paper and serve on a plate with the eggs and baked beans. Sprinkle with salt and vinegar – enjoy!
I would have to lay off the salt as I am sodium sensitive...
SW add the following info re chips: Did you know...
Chips are high on the list of food that's hard to give up when you're losing weight.
Size matters!
The thinner they are, the more fat they absorb, because a larger area on the outside is exposed to oil.
Keep em straight!
Crinkle-cut are the fattiest chips as they have the greatest surface area and so absorb most fat. Deep fried chips are the very worst culprits, but some varieties of oven-baked can be high in fat too. Nutrition information (per 8oz/227g cooked)
Slimming World chips Fat: 0.9g Cals: 170
Chip-shop chips Fat: 28.1g Cals: 545 | The advice to get a free account from FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal is good advice. Weight Watchers points are derived simply from calories and saturated fat. They therefore have no regard to such factors as protein, fibre, calcium, healthy fats, vitamins that effect and govern our good health and contribute towards the optimisation of our weight loss.
Whilst the WW program suggests incorporating such things in your diet in various items of literature and in the "talk" element of the meeting - there is nothing intrinsically in the plan to put them into your menu.
A study of the nutrition and exercise sections of the forum (particularly the sticky threads) would therefore be to your benefit.
I would agree that you need more fruit and vegetables and you need more calories. You also need to exercise.
The WW program expects you to exercise - indeed I can tell you up front (and your leader will confirm) that the current "Discover Plan" expects you to earn 4 activity points every day when you are in maintenance. You would be best off getting used to that level of activity as early in the program as you can. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
