Rep Power: 0 | | | Healing with food Hi everyone.
My first weight loss diary log. A little about me:
I'm 5'7'' and weigh 165lbs. I want to be around 145 but I will worry about this when/if I get near that number! I am on steroids because of health issues so losing weight is a problem and if I don't watch what I eat I gain weight right away.
The list of what I cannot eat is LONG so I will keep it simple and list what I can eat: vegetables(but not potatoes), fruits(no bananas), seeds, nuts(moderation), grains(variation), beans, tofu and some soy products (but not too processed). I cook all my food from scratch and it is all very whole food-ish, majority of my food is eaten raw. I try to buy organic as much as I can find/afford. I take a B12 supplement and have regular blood checks.
I have some major hormonal problems so this is an attempt to clean my body of all the toxins and regain some control (maybe someday I can even get off the steroids). I am supervised by my doctor who is also into alternative medicine and yoga.
I can't do no exercise at the moment because I am recovering from surgery but I do walk a lot and I will try yoga and maybe later some pilates.
I don't count calories or portion my meals. When I eat nuts I keep in mind they're full of fat so I don't overeat. I think I don't eat enough calories but if I try eating more I don't feel good and start gaining weight. I try to listen to my body and eat sensibly.
So my menu for today was:
b:apple,kiwi and orange smoothie
s:apple
l:veggie soup, baked tofu with zucchini
s:almonds
d:veggie soup, chickpeas and radicchio salad
I like how I eat, but it's difficult to eat this way while away from home. I am lucky to have some helping hands (and wallets). I don't have any cravings and I also don't mind watching other people eat things I used to love like pizza. It seems people around me are more upset by how I eat than me
I hope I can finally start losing some weight and most importantly get healthy.
Have a great day!

Rep Power: 0 | | I weighed myself this morning and I was so happy I lost some weight. I am now 163.8 lbs. Last Wednesday I was 167.5 at the doctors office. It's not the same scale so this might be inaccurate but I am still excited. Today is a good day
b: carrot/apple/orange juice, apple
s: pineapple
l: buckwheat with mushrooms, cucumbers and soy bean sprouts salad
s: dried figs, some cashews
d: veggie soup
I will try not to weigh myself too often. Today I just couldn't resist and I am actually glad I did it because tomorrow I have a big challenge to overcome.. a party.. There will be lots of delicious tasty food and everybody will be drinking. I already volunteered to be the designated driver for everyone so I won't drink and I hope they won't notice I am not eating any food Knowing I lost some weight and the fact I feel GREAT without ANY animal products is going to help me get through this!
Have a great weekend |

So the party was great and I didn't cheat once! I drank 100% orange juice and water the whole night. I brought some cashews with me so that was my ''dinner''. Didn't eat a lot yesterday but I don't feel hungry because I eat till I'm full. I also don't exercise just yet so I don't need that much anyway.
Yesterday:
b: apple
s: almonds
l: whole wheat pasta with zucchini, grilled mushrooms, salad (lettuce, cucumber, soy bean sprouts)
d: cashews
Today:
b: carrot juice, apple
l: veggie soup, grilled tofu and chickpeas, cabbage salad
s: apple, mandarin
d: veggie soup, 3 Wasa Fibre crispbreads

Rep Power: 0 | | I don't know what to write really. Nothing interesting is happening in my life at the moment. I have an appointment with my doctor next week. I am interested to hear what he has to say. He also does traditional Chinese medicine and I hope he can maybe help me with some acupuncture. I have headaches everyday and it's not a migraine. It's very dull and annoying. It comes and goes. I've had these for about a month, before I gave up animal products so I don't think it has anything to do with it.
I should be walking more... But I just hate the cold weather. It's so depressing
If I had a dog or someone to go with maybe I would be more motivated. As you can see I'm just looking for excuses
Maybe if I stop losing weight I'll try harder.
b: clemntines
l: broccoli cream soup, grilled zucchini and tofu, radicchio salad

Rep Power: 0 | | I just saw 2012.. And what a waste of time that was It so predictable and cheesy. Not my cup of tea. I liked Zombieland. The slow motion sequences. Hilarious. The tickets for 2012 were free so what the hell we went anyway.
b: kiwi pineapple and apple smoothie
s: apple
l: barley soup, salad (radicchio, red kidney beans, chickpeas)
s: roasted chestnuts
s: nashi pear
d: mixed nuts |

Rep Power: 8 | | Hi. It looks like you are doing great. I admire your vegan diet. I have myself been cutting back on animal products and feel better than I have in a long time. Eating right is definitely good for your general health. |

Rep Power: 16 | | I hate the cold weather too. Nothing sucks away your will to do stuff outside quite like the winter chill. Boo.
Good job on your nutrition Kati, looks like you're doing pretty well! Hope your head feels better.

Rep Power: 0 | | Today I got on the scale again thinking I would be heavier than last time because it's that time of the month you know.. Imagine my surprise when I realized I lost another 2 pounds I am so happy!! I wish I could see it in the mirror or with clothes! I guess my jeans are easier to get into but that's also because they stretch the longer I have them on. I have to try on the freshly cleaned ones.
My dad and sister got the flu yesterday. I hope it's not the new (swine) flu. If I got one of those it could be very dangerous for me.
b: pineapple juice, nashi pear
l: veggie soup, grilled tofu, zucchini, salad
s: cashews
s: pomegranate and clementines
d: wasa fibre breads with avocado
