It's fun because when you lose the weight...it makes you want to lose more weight.
| You are so right!!! Wow, under the 30 pound mark. That must feel SOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD. I can't wait until I get to that point.

Rep Power: 0 | | Hi, sounds like you are well on your way to a great weight loss. Congrats on your successes.
I just have a few thoughts to add: eating has a physical as well as psychological effect on us. It raises "feel good" chemical in our brains. Just like you, I eat whenever I have any kind of "ache", because it really does make pain go away, whether it is physical or emotional. So if you do overeat for those reasons a bit, don't beat yourself up, just realize that you need to have more good days then bad days. It is not realistic to always eat low in calories, so it is a good idea to designate one day per week as your "cheat" day, when you allow yourself to eat more, and treat to the kind of food you want or miss. Cutting out any type of food completely did not work for me, because I just crave it more, but sticking to a number of calories per day, and having a bit of bad food (if I had to) worked for me beautifully! Soon the cravings deminished and my body got used to getting a healthier diet.
I would not advise going below 1200 calories for more then one or two days at a time, because body tends to go into starvation mode, and its best to vary it up - do 1000 cals one day, and 1400cals next.
Sorry, I just realized that you may know all of this... If so, just ignore it... Anyway, I wish you best of luck, I know you can do it! |

NTL-Thank you for that! Sometimes it's nice to hear someone else tell you it's okay to cheat once in awhile. I get so caught up in trying to lose the weight sometimes that soon all my cravings are catching up with me! It's funny though...during the days following those which I have eaten rightfully healthy...I get fewer of those *aches and pains*! That's good though. I still get awful headaches but that's just something I've come to live with! Thanks again, I appreciate the reply.
As for me...TOM |

Rep Power: 0 | | Sorry about TOM. I hate mine.
Glad I could help. I get headaches too... Even double strength pain killers don't affect them. At least they are not as often now as they used to be.
Have a great weekend! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Headaches suck. I've decided that they will be banned forever. .
In other news...I'm been contemplating the idea of switching over to an organic diet. Not totally right away, and I'm not thinking vegetarian and what not... just stuff that's naturally around, naturally here. I have a friend who is on an organic diet...she loves it. She's also lost a lot of weight and looks great. Just something that's running through my mind. My mom wants to lose weight too so I'm going to do some research and next time we shop for groceries...we're going to head on over to the health food store instead.
Seems like a positive step, eh? Anyone have any experience with this? |

Rep Power: 0 | | By organic food you mean non-processed food? Go for it! Natural stuff is always better then processed, but to be honest I don't think I could give up all the cereals and healthbars, and sweets... The main thing about changing your diet and succeeding is making sure that you enjoy eating foods that are on your diet and you don't crave too much the foods you give up.
It does not seem like it would be a bad thing, so you can always try it and see how you like it.
Good luck! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Ava, give it a try. I've always thought if we only ate what came straight from the earth in it's natural form we would all be our ideal weight. Probably was much easier to do 200 years ago in a little house on the prarie, or in an Indian village on the banks of a river. But in this day and age....not so easy. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Yes, that is what I mean by organic. Haha yes and it's not so easy to do these days but I'm in luck because we have some really great organic food stores around here (even some organic restaurants!....I didn't know they had those!!!). My whole thing is that I feel gross after I eat a lot of the things I eat. I mean to be honest, I wouldn't be giving up everything at once...couldn't do that. It'd be more gradual. But when I read about the health benefits of it, going organic just seems so appealing...so I think I'm going to give it a go. They have a lot of the same foods that they do at regular grocery stores...just organic and fresh. My friend said her energy level has skyrocketed and she can just feel that she's that much healthier. I'm definitely no vegetarian, but this I think I could do. So I shall. I'd feel much better I think. And even if I don't lose tons of weight from it, I will definitely be healthier. I hope..haha.
Thanks guys! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Ok so I haven't counted my calories in quite awhile...and I know I haven't been too good. I expect that when I do my weekly weigh-in tomorrow I will be above the 140 mark again...but oh well. No use in dwelling on that thought.
As for today so far...
4 glasses of water and 1 nectarine = about 67 calories.
Lunch was a Baked Chicken Lean Cuisine = 230 calories.
So far: 297 Calories
Other than that, today has been going pretty good. Hope all of your days are going well too!

Rep Power: 0 | | Hi, Ava, you're doing great! I just have to worn you about eating too few calories (700 is too low). If it is one day out of many, its ok, but don't do it too many days in a row, because your body will go into starving mode and will hang on to each calorie, and store it as fat, so it will be more difficult to loose later. When I started out, I did 1000 calories for 2-3 weeks. I lost 4 lbs in 1 month (which is a lot for me), but then I hit a huge plato and was barely loosing anything at all.
I think organic foods and not-processed foods are not exactly the same. I think organic are foods that do not have artificial ingredients or perservatives. Non-processed foods are foods that occur naturally. For example, most cold ready to eat cereals are processed foods, but they may be either organic or non-organic depending on the ingredients.
So, I think eating organic will be easier then eating non-processed, because organic foods have same things we are used to eating, just from more natural ingredients, and without pesticides. Either way, you will have benefit to your health, that's for sure, and good idea on gradual adjustment! It will make transition much easier and set you up for success!
Can't wait to hear how it goes! |
