Well it aint lik mamma made it.

For a quick meal they weren't too bad. considering its hard to put that kind of low cal meal together yourself for a few hundred calories. Id say pick up a few for when you want a lil something. Thought the meatloaf was kinda dry then again before the diet i would dump ketchup on everything lol.

thinking of trying some of the other pre made diet food. just afraid the box would taste better. That and the diet foods seem to be double the price. just picked up the LC's because they were $2.50 each

The LC stuff you described sounded pretty good. It has been my fear that these things would taste like airplane food.

Thinking back........

I was just thinking back to when I was a kid. I remember my mom and her friends being on a low/no calorie diet. This was in the mid 70's when the low cal move was really hitting. I can remember them eating like a teaspoon of cottage cheese and a half a canned peach. lunch was like a skinless chicken breast and that was about it. Now they say you have to eat to lose weight. I just start to wonder is this the way to lose weight? are they going to change the lose weight rules next week? you have so many plans out now. Atkins, south beach, then all the meal plans... they all have their different ways that seem to work for some but not all. Now you go in a bookstore and look for a book on diets, everyone seems to have one. When I think about all the money being made over a general topic. Are they being printed to help people or simply get them rich?.....................

I think you summed it up - to get rich.

The diet industry is HUGE business, and profits on the insecurities, frustrations, guilt levels and feelings of inadequacy that dieters often have.

Jumping in here... I can't believe I haven't been to your diary yet! Not that you NEED encouragment.... you're doing GREAT! But everyone likes it, so here you go... Way to go! Keep it up!

And I've really enjoyed lc meals.... much better than the smart ones I've tried. It's so much easier to have that than plan out a whole seperate low carb/fat meal for me. Sometimes I'll cave and have the dinner I made for the family, like last night, hamburger patty, with provolone, no bun, 1/4 c. baked beans, and one half corn on the cob. I still had room in my cals for pudding, but I was too full.

Have a great evening!

to get rich of course, if these plans actually worked long for the long haul, or people were able to stick with them, then there's be no more problem with obesity and their market would dry up...

Sometimes I think we just need real food. Since I have so much to lose i keep a day about every two weeks to sit down and have normal human food. Im thinking sea food. maybe some lobster, clams, some type of fish. I will keep it grilled or steamed so i dont go too far overboard. Maybe some type of coleslaw or some quitless fries. Not sure, I just know its hard too cook for the kids when i cant have most of what they want. Like lastnight, they wanted a homemade lime pie. the dirty lil $^$^%^&. Na just kidding they wanted it so i made it. They dont have a problem with weight and hope they never do.......

Sounds like your doing really good!
I don't see any problem with eating some normal food once in awhile as long as you don't overdo it. I mean isn't it better to have the foods you like and stick to your new lifestyle then deny yourself everything you want and quit.
Keep up the great work and have a great day!

How did you like this one, it's one of my favorites. I don't eat Lean Cuisines too often though because I agree with what you said about us needing real food. If we could just eat what grows from the earth in it's natural form I think we'd all be so much better off. But that is totally unrealistic in a world where such things exist as pasta, fresh crusty bread, cookies Sorry, I meant to say things like cucumbers, peaches, brussel sprouts...

lee, you are doing so great!!! I wish I could stick to the calories that you do!!!

lazyone.... Thats why i do it. I reward myself a little for a good week or two. My friends and family always seem to want to go to a buffet. Its a test of will power. Now its not a huge issue, I get full so fast I never have to worry really about over eating. If i know im going, Ill try to keep my calories down for breakfast and lunch oh say 300-500 calories or so. That way a chinese or mexican buffet dosent hit me that bad. Not sure if you can even call one plate a buffet but thats about the normal. Alot of restaurants have a fruit section on their buffet so i leave full. I eat and im done then I watch my friends and family put down 4-5 full plates of food. Its like watching wild animals feed lol. well i cant say much i used to do the same. Now when im done i just drink my water or sugar free tea and pass the time with them.

Think there is alot in fresh fruit and veggies that cant be put back in with just vitamins.... now if I can just find a pasta tree...................
