I think we will hit the Parthenon in Greek Town which should have some less guilty plessures so I'm not too worried about Detroit food. As for the game, it'll be Tuesday, July 18th.

I think I'm going to Thursdays game. Your trip sounds like it'll be a great time! Just stay away from Astoria Bakery in Greektown or you'll be in big trouble!

Mm Greek! Feta cheese and olives... If you've never tried olives, dare your mates into trying them! Haha, a couple of years back, my brother and I were at a caborare (sp?) gig, and they had cheese and olives on the table. We both dared each other to try one and... let's just say we weren't impressed
hmmm feta cheese and olives, sounds rather scrummy! Lucky you're getting to go to games just now, our football season doesn't start for another two weeks and with the world cup over I have no idea what to do with myself!
Hope you're having a good week! I shall no doubt pop in again sometime soon!
That is an awesome idea to start socking away money now for new clothes for future goals. When you buy those new slacks for Christmas in a much smaller size you will be doing the happy dance all the way home!!!! I can't wait for your shopping trip!!!!!
And what will happen is if you keep wearing your current size clothes until then...when you put the new ones on people will be like HOLY SMOKES you've lost alot of weight!!!!

Ah bakery is such a weakness
Bronski-Not such a bakery fan
Crunchie-Oh I get that way between football and baseball season. Roughly, November to April. I actually got into cricket when I was at Oxford and I even bought equipment back with me from England. We'd play it on the quad on college and it'd be me and the Pakistani exchange students. I got to be pretty competitive, but I never could really get the hang of bowling. People gave us the weirdest looks when they'd see us playing and have no idea what we were doing.
Scarlett - I sometimes have to work to find an incentive that isn't wasteful and isn't food related. I think this is a good one since I'll have to buy new clothes anyway.

Hahaha, cricket's weird even to me! I can only imagine how people in the states must have reacted to have seen a group of you stopping for a tea break
You could do a reverse "pound for a pound" to save some money... but in dollars! Put a "pound" away for every pound you lose. That's £ for a lb, not the other way round
Have a fantastic day... or hope you had one, depending on time zone.
Well we do have the 7th inning stretch in baseball, bronsk we we get up sing Take Me Out to the Ball game and hit the restroom
during 2000, I was in Sydney, Australia on a business trip and thru some connections i got some tickets to Olympic events.. one of them being baseball... It was the funniest thign trying to explain baseball to people who didnt grow up with it.. but over the courseof about 6 trips, and about 5 months total spent there, I never quite got the hang of or the point behind Cricket... It's a fascinating game - very civilized.

In the White Sox's park its been replaced with God Bless America. Now, I'm as patriotic as the next guy, but this really irritates me. The 7th inning stretch is time to get that last beer or hot dog and hit the bathroom. The song seems so out of place and so over the top in place of Take Me Out to the Ballgame.

It's incredibly civillised, maleficent. Perhaps that's what I don't understand, being the animal I am I like less complicated sports like martial arts! It was one of the most touching moments of my life when Top Cat (boyfriend) remembered some of the Japanese terms from Judo.
Baseball looks a bit like rounders, though I'm going to have some people completely prove me wrong. Then how silly will I look
Even though I know little-to-none of baseball, I have to agree with you there, Cannon. It takes away the spirit of tradition to change the song. And lining up for the loo to God Bless America probably isn't the same as standing to Take Me Out to the BallGame.
Ah yes cricket! My first serious boyfriend was very into cricket and when I went to stay with him in the summer he'd take me to watch cricket matched he was playing in. Didn't bother telling me the games could run for 6 hours though gah! Hope you've had a good day today (it's nearly bed time here).
The person who got me onto cricket was a professor of mine during that Oxford Summer Program. He was a fat and balding guy with a huge personality. His name was Alasdair McPherson and he also was the person who convinced me to take off and explore Scotland as well. He was kind of a role model to me because we'd see him all over town with a different girl everytime and always a looker. He had even dated Helena Bonham Carter for a bit. He was a championship caliber squash player and a real sporting enthusiast in general. I remember when he cancelled a tutorial with me so I could go punting with my friends including this girl from Georgia I had a major crush on. He was about 10 years older than me and I always thought, boy I'd like to be him when I grow up. He looked a bit like Van Morrison.
Yesterday was a really good day for me foodwise. I had a bad day on Monday so I tried to make up for it yesterday. I feel a little extra motivation to have a good week since my trip starts next Tuesday and I want to leave with us in good shape for the 2 week contest.
