Today was my Saturday Morning Weigh In

I lost 3 pounds this week! I honestly thought when I signed up for the June challenge, that there would be NO way I could lose 10 pounds in a month! Now I'm *this close*

Maleficant - thanks for the words of encouragement, I know if I didn't eat foods I loved, I couldn't lose weight!

Mrs. B - What is coronation chicken?? It sounds yummy!

valapalooza - I do think you're right about the family and the noticing thing. I just find it so amazing - I have not even tried to lose weight in over 10 years. I never talk about weight - not weight loss, weight gain, etc I didn't tell anyone I was "going on a diet" if I had, my husband would have looked at me eating hash browns and eggs last night and say something jokingly about falling off the wagon

I have a long way to reach my goal of 155 - somewere along the line, someone will notice that I'm not still 257

Woot!

Way to go, M2M!! 3 lbs closer to your goal. You're so awesome!

You're really strong to be trying so hard and doing so well at weight loss and not telling your hubby or anyone. I can't do it without personal accountability. First I told my thinnest friend that I was losing weight.... I knew she'd hold it over my head. Then my husband. And pretty much all my other friends. I want everyone who sees me on a daily-weekly basis knowing. If I didn't let people know, I'd end up giving up like I've done so many times before. I'm waiting for the first time someone comments on my weight loss... (because though I've let everyone know... and about my progress... no one has commented yet... :P) And though my husband won't openly "support" me in this... he says he doesn't want me to lose weight.... Since I've lost weight, he can't keep his hands off me! So that's something (and that's a good thing.. I've always been the hornier one in the relationship... this just balances things out!)

The day will be very sweet when someone finally does ask and you can proudly tell them how much you've lost on sheer will power and no thanks to them or their support!

Ok, sorry to ramble.

Way to go M2M!!!! If only you weighed on fridays, we could have you in the FSD !!

Coronation Chicken is a british dish (I think invented for the queen's coronation), which uses Indian spices and has sultanas and flaked almonds in it. I'm not sure if people eat it as a hot dish, but I buy the sandwich filler which is chicken in mayo. It is delicious!!

I'm definitely looking up a recipe for coronation chicken Mrs B, it sounds really good!

Adriana, Did your husband say why he didn't want you to lose weight? The side effects are working in your favor eh?

As for not telling anyone, I really don't like to feel 'judged'. If I decide to eat some chocolate, some cheese & crackers, or wine, I wouldn't want anyone looking at me and thinking "that's not exactly on a diet". I know no one would say it, but I think the thought of having what I eat judged, has been what's kept me from saying anything.

This weightloss is truly for me. For me to feel better about myself and to be able to do all the things I want.

My daughter and I camp a lot, probably about 1/10 of our year is spent camping. Even at my highest weight, I would still hike whatever trails she wanted to go, but in March we went through some slot canyons in the desert that I almost didn't fit through That would have been embarrassing!

Hey M2M...I'm in the same boat as you. I haven't really told anyone that I'm dieting...because it is for me, and I don't think they need to know.

Hope the rest of your day is going well!

Hey, M2M, awesome job on the weight loss this week!!!! I'm with you ... I haven't told anyone except for my best friend that I've started dieting (and I know she'll support me). I don't like to be "judged" either. I believe that you can fit any food into your regime as long as you're truthful with yourself and add the calories to your daily total. Portion control is the name of the game in most instances. You're doing terrific! Keep it up!

Oh valapalooza - thank you for mentioning fitday.com I went over there and input my weight loss weekly since 20 January until now, and what I've eaten for the last 3 days - it definitely makes counting calories easy - right down to calculating the 10 grapes I snacked on that I forgot to count

Phew - you guys weren't kidding when you talked about how hard it is going out to eat.

My husband came home and had been craving hamburgers ALLL day - tomorrow is shopping day, so there isn't much in the way of anything delicious or quick to fix in the house.

So we hit fast food - I haven't had fast food since I split a subway sandwich with my daughter 7 weeks ago.

Oy!

With the help of fitday.com, I have started entering what I've eaten - some of the items weren't listed exactly right in nutrition or calorie content, and I used the calories gathered from www.foodfacts.info for where we went...

I have been trying to keep the calories around 1200 a day, today's the first day I've really gone over, or felt like I binged.

The calories aren't EXTREMELY over, and I'm still under what I need to lose 2 pounds a week, but I'm feeling over full and I don't like it

Pre Breakfast Snack
Dannon Light 'n Fit 60

Breakfast
Tortilla, flour (wheat) 140
Egg omelet or scrambled egg, fat not added in cooking 140

Lunch
Pria Bar 170

Dinner
Jack in the Box Hamburger deluxe with Cheese 460
Milk shakes, thick vanilla 350 (a medium split in half with my daughter)
Regular Taco, no sauce 160

Total 1480

I'm telling myself this truly isn't bad considering I had a burger, taco and some milkshake - but...I'm still glad I don't do this every week!

It could have been worse, my husband ate two Ultimate Cheeseburgers and one Large vanilla milk shake for a grand total of: 3,030 calories.

Pineola and lazyone, thanks for the encouragement, and Cannon, yes, I need yogurt AND eggs in the morning or I am *starving* all day!

Anyway, NO MORE FOOD for today, I'm off to go walk a mile or two!

maleficent - thank you for your encouraging words! I also checked out your thread on nutrition and fast food restaurants! Great Info!

Now, I have a question -
I went for a 2.153 mile walk for 40 minutes, my pedometer says I burned 475.9 calories.

I went to www.fitday.com and entered in my activity as 40 minutes of walking a 3 mph moderate walk and it calculated my calories burned as 124

I have no idea which is correct - does anyone know?
