Rep Power: 26 | | | quitting smoking You said to wishes that quitting smoking was the hardest thing you ever did. Was it harder than losing weight? One of the hardest things for me about losing weight is the time it takes. Am I making steady progress? (I think I am).
p.s. You're daughter looks awesome, and the resemblance is uncanny. I can't imagine the fun you must be having trying on those small sizes, and you're still losing! That's just incredible that now that you're down to a much more reasonable weight than when you started that you're going all the way. What size is your goal? |

Rep Power: 43 | | Thanks for the pics! I was thinking your beautiful daughter looked like you, heaps, just from first set and your avvie. The childhood photo really seals the deal.
Even better, it looks like there is a similar spirit in her looking out at us. |

I must have tried on a gazillion clothes. It's pretty clear, I need to start buying 10's - every one I tried on, fit - and in juniors I wear an 11. I tried on some 501 button up jeans, 32x32 they fit, but don't fit the way I remember them fitting, a bit too high in the waist. I also fit into Euro size 33's I don't know if I've ever even tried on Euro sizes before! I also tried on bathing suits. A size Large one piece that was two big and four tankinis - sizes 10 & 12 - I've decided I won't buy a two piece until I'm in single digits, but I have to say, this is the FIRST time in my life where I've tried on bathing suits and honestly felt like I didn't look like shit - I went, 'wow, it's not as bad as I thought it would be.'
The interesting thing about shopping is that I still gravitate to the "Woman's Section". Every pair of pants I first grabbed thinking "these will fit", were always WAY too big.
I think I have spent so many years of my life grabbing a 20 and up, and have had so little time grabbing these 10's, that it boggles my mind that they're actually going to fit on my ass!
OK - my prattling is over for the time being | ohhhh... what a GREAT feeling this must be!!!
i can't wait until i am able to try on 10's and 12's!!
you and your success are truly an inspiration to us all!!! |

sounds like you had fun on your shopping trip - m2m - well done -i can't wait til ican actually fit in 10s - actually i'll be thrilled when I don't have to go to that single rack of plus sizes at the back of the store.. though when i was out saturday - having the entire store available to you - is a littl overwhelming |

GO YOU!! head straight for those smaller sizes now, look back at the 20's,stick your tongue out at them clearly that isn't you anymore..

My idea of shopping is to find a pair of jeans then six months later find a shirt. That has literally been my way of shopping for almost 2 decades! Quote:

Originally Posted by Happychubette You said to wishes that quitting smoking was the hardest thing you ever did. Was it harder than losing weight? | It was far harder then losing weight. Losing weight is one day, one meal at a time. If I want cheesecake tonight, I CAN have it. I just had to learn moderation and how to adjust calories to allow for it.
Quitting the cigs was forever - just stop - no buying them, no passing go - no collecting $200.
At least that's how it felt. I have occasioinally had a cig since, 2-3 a year, but it's so rare, and I have no desire to go buy a pack. Those first two weeks of giving them up were utter hell. I wouldn't want to go through it again. I was thinking about that today - I really don't know since I don't know what I'm going to look like at any given weight. I've been dropping a size every 10 pounds. If that holds true, I should/could be 2 sizes down in the 20 pounds I have left, which would put me in a 6/8. However, I look at my body and I honestly feel I have more then 15-20 pounds left to lose. So I'll just keep re-evaluating as I get closer.
My progress has been very slow - I restructured my eating, slowly upped my calories and that definitely had an effect on how quickly the weight is coming off. I'm ok with that though Quote:

Even better, it looks like there is a similar spirit in her looking out at us. | She has an amazing spirit, I have been told so many times she is an old soul. I have no idea in that regard, but I've never seen a kid who can walk into any nursing home, and sit and stroke the faces of the ill and elderly - (As a kid, I would have complained about the smel) or chat it up with complete strangers. In one store I kept crossing back and forth between 3 different sections wandering aimlessly, pulling off clothes from any rack...it was WEIRD! Another weird thing, at Old Navy, while going through the clearance rack, I could find NO 10's a ton of size 14's but no 10s. Granted, I had no idea when I wore a size 20 that Old Navy CARRIED size 20's. Quote:

| It isn't, and it is...it is the same me, along with years of reaching for them, I just remember so much frigging frustration while shopping, so much of my shopping time was spent thinking "If ONLY I was thinner, I could buy such cute clothes..." now all I could think of is "If ONLY I had MONEY, I could buy such cute clothes" Quote:

Smoking -- that was easy for me, even after smoking 2 packs of Camels a day for 8 years. This is much harder. But we're all different.
I hate shopping, especially for clothes, but next July, on my 60th bday, I think I may actually go out and buy some! |
