Smile Diana's Diary

Current weight = 235 pounds
Goal weight = 130 pounds
Weight to lose = 105 pounds
Timeframe = 1 year (by July 2007)
Methods = Exercising more, portion control, participation in this forum
Support needed = New forum friends, current friends & family encourgament.
Starting date = NOW!!!!

A friend of mine told me about this website (Darcy) and I thought that it coudn't hurt to give it a try. So here I am and I am hoping that I can get the the motiviation and support that I need to become the healthy and happier person that I know I can be.

I was just recently (about 2 months ago) diagnosed with severe sleep apenea and insulin resistant and the doctor put me on gluaphage and said that if I were just to lose 35 to 40 pounds I could prbably be taken off of glucaphage and it would help with my sleep apenea also. Since I have two young boys that I want to be around for, I really need to become healthier for their sakes and my own!

I look forward to sharing my feelings, questions and support for others.

Hi!

Hello! Don't concentrate too much on the big number when you get discouraged. Just hang in here and keep taking it a day at a time. I had 100 pounds to lose when I joined, but now it is just 83. Get yourself a reasonable plan that you can live with for the long term, and the pounds will come off! Nice to have you around!

Welcome onboard Diana.

I've been diabetic since 2002 and please listen to your doctor's advice. I made the serious mistake of counting on my Glucophage being my cure-all. I was taking 2000mg a day and my numbers were low so I felt I had a fool-proof safeguard in place. Naturally I abused the very foods that assisted me to obesity and diabetes. Eventually you may found out that those pills can only do so much for so long.

Only lately have I found the full effects of weight loss and exercise to be the ONLY cure for diabetes.

May I suggest you looking into this forum as well ?? http://www.diabetesforums.com/

There's a lot of good reading over there as well but NO forum has the 'family atmosphere' like this place

Anything I can do to help you, just ask, I'll share whatever I can with you on your trek to wellness.

Best of luck to you on your new journey and joining a forum where you don't have to go it alone.

We may doze, but we never close

Well, hello everyone. My weekend was ok. I had a lot of family from out of town here from Friday until Tuesday (July 4th) and I did not eat very well at all. But I did get a lot of walking in since we were working on the outside of our house and I had to keep after four children (ages 6, 5, 4, and 3) all the time! I did weigh myself this morning and it showed that I did not gain anythig (as of yet anyway)! I did get a lot of water in also!

I am hoping that the rest of this week goes well and I am going to try to get in more exercise this weekend!

Smile

Thanks all for the encouragement. Well yesterday went so so. I did really good for breakfast (cheese omelet) and lunch was good also (chicken ceaser wrap and a few baked chips). Then when I got home I caved and had 5 oreo cookies (and milk of course). Then I took my oldest son to Tae Kwon Do class and then came home and we had tuna salad sandwhiches (I had 2 of them) and I had a few more baked chips. I did drink about 45 ounces of water yesterday.

I did not get any walking in though.

So for tomorrow my goals are:

1. Get some walking/exercise in

2. Try not to eat any junk food

3. Watch my portion size

Today is a new day and I will start fresh today!!

Well, yesterday went pretty good until I got home from work.

Breakfast - bowl of yogurt cheerios (correct portion size!)

Lunch - tuna salad, 2 - light cheese sticks, and handful of baked lays chips

Afternoon snack - 1 large apple

Now for the not so good stuff . . . When I got home I went straight for the Oreo's. I ended up eating about 4 of them. I was in a really bad mood when I got home yesterday (not really sure why but I just was) and since I am such an emotional eater I went for my comfort food!! As for my dinner I ended up eating a large (more than one poriton) bowl of Frosted Flakes!

I also did not get much water drank or any of my walking in! Why does it seem to be so hard sometimes! I just wish I could be that person (like my neighbor is) and made time everyday (no matter what) to get my exercise in. Ever since I had my 2nd child (3 1/2 years ago) I just can't seem to fit my exercise in. I use to be able to get up early in the morning and do it but now I just can't seem to fit it in. Since my husband works late pretty much each night and my children can't seem to leave me alone or stay out of trouble for more than 5 minutes at a time I have a hard time walking on my treadmill or even going for a walk in the neighborhood! URGH!!

Ok, now I feel like I have vented and hopefully I can start today anew!

I did wake up this morning with a very stuffy head and sneezing a lot. I believe that I have allergies now so therefore I feel really yucky today!! I am trying really hard to not let the way I feel affect me emotionally and make me want to turn to my "comfort foods"! So far so good but it is only 9:00 a.m.!!
