Rep Power: 0 | | | Food intake Tuesday 4 July Breakfast
small tin baked beans;2slices multigrain toast; coffee Morning Tea
Vegemite s/w Lunch @McDonalds
Chicken Tandoori Deli Roll 335 cals
Skim standard latte Dinner
Curried vegetables (homemade), small lean piece steak, pita bread and low fat yoghurt
Low fat custard and fruit salad Snack
2 handfuls popcorn @ the movies; 4 potato crisps Exercise
10.4km on bike Ramblings
Well, its been a good day, again no snacking after dinner. This is a very big issue for me because once I start to snack I can't stop. I think I did well at the movies, I had daughter sitting on one side with popcorn and son on the other side with potato crisps! I actually took my s/w into the movies because I knew I would be hungry and then really blow it on crisps. I have to keep repeating to myself the two P's - Planning and Preparation!! I even managed to avoid eating any fries at McD's
I am really concentrating on portion control. I used to have a second helping of anything that I enjoyed, and let's face it that was most things! I have to fight the craving for more...more...more!
Maleficent - I didn't read your post until after I 'd returned from McD's. Yes come to think of it , the smell is what is so enticing.....but not anymore! Goal for tomorrow - eat that extra piece of fruit do a weight session @ gym.
Happy Independence Day to all the Americans out there! Is it a national holiday?

Rep Power: 22 | | aussiechick, You have baked beans for breakfast a lot. Is that big in Australia? We would only have baked beans for lunch or dinner. I will eat anything for breakfast. Your doing great!!!

Rep Power: 0 | | | Baked Beans Troutman, I've been (no pun intended) eating baked beans for breakfast for a long time. I know some people need variety in their breakfasts, I don't feel I've started the day unless I have my beans I don't really like cereal or porridge that much, maybe a couple of times a month.
I think if you asked most Australians they would put beans in the breakfast/lunch category. They are a great source of protein and complex carbohydrates and I know what everyone is thinking, the answer is no |

Rep Power: 0 | | My father would be best buddies with you. There's a company here in the states called "Bush"... he loooooooooooooves Bush's baked beans. He could eat them morning, noon and night. Me, I love them, but they way the come, they aren't really that great for ya. (lots of sugar and such) |

Rep Power: 16 | | AC - Way to GO avoiding those fries!!! I used to eat them at least once a week. I think I had them only once in the last month. Every time I would think about them, I'd add up those calories and ask myself if they were really worth it today. One time, they were.
I love Bush's chili with beans. Gotta watch the calories, though! |

pita wrap spread with a teaspoon of low fat yoghurt, chopped tomato, cucumber and lettuce Afternoon tea
low fat cup a soup (hearty minestrone)
skim latte standard size
Apple Dinner
Curried vegetables (home made); 90g lean steak; pita wrap and teaspoon yoghurt
Low fat custard and fruit salad Ramblings
I've started looking at the nutrition panel on everything I eat.The beans at breakfast come in a single serve tin 130g @ 107cals; 17g carb of which 7.4g are sugar;0.5g fat of which 0.1g saturated fat. I think the sugar level is quite acceptable as the beans are a low GI food.
Tampachick and twinmom - you both mentioned Bush's baked beans and the calorie and sugar levels. I would be interested in the sugar levels compared to our baked beans.
I achieved half of my goal for today by eating an extra piece of fruit, however didn't do my weight training session. Nevermind it will be my goal for tommorrow.
Exercise - 3km walk; 10.4km bike
I've started to enjoy sweating on the bike, love that sensation of the sweat rolling down my face and off my nose Makes me feel like I'm actually achieving something. I must admit when I'm driving home from the gym I feel very smug and self righteous
Again, another day without snacking after dinner...whooo...hooo My weigh in day will be Friday, can't wait to see if the scales have moved. I really need to lose centimetres of my waist, not just weight. I am your classic 'apple' shaped body, I don't carry any fat on legs or much on arms, its ALL around my upper body, so its important that I lose that body fat!
I'm still feeling very positive, something has just gone click! in my head this time. I think now I've reached 44 (mid 40's ) and with 2 young children the health ramifications from being obese look very real. I would like to be the mum who can run with her children and not be embarrassed when I take them to the beach. I especially don't want my childen to be embarrassed about me, that would break my heart And of course I want to be able to go into a boutique and buy an outfit that I really love instead of chosing one because it happens to come in my size.
One last thing, I've introduced no eating areas (for me) in our house.
No.1 No eating when on the computer.
No.2 No eating in front of TV
Which means I sit at the dining table as they were the 2 main areas I would snack.
Wow, this post is long |

Rep Power: 16 | | | beans Bush's original baked beans are 140 calories for 130 grams, or 1/2 cup.
Bush's chili with beans is 125 calories for 1/2 cup, but a serving is listed at 1 cup, so that's 250 calories. Of course, it comes in a little jar and apparently has about 2 servings in the jar, which I never really took as two servings before I started counting calories. I took it as one big bowl, which was very yummy served steaming hot with a bunch of crackers. That would have been 500 calories for the chili and about 150 calories or more for the crackers! Big lunch!!! |

Ramblings
Had a very good day today. I met a friend and her sister at a cafe at 5.30pm. It was too early to have dinner, but I knew I would have to eat something. The girls had the cheese melts with chips....boy o boy they looked yummy with lots of melted cheese and those hot chips! But no, I said to myself, make a conscious decision to find a healthy alternative! I ordered a half serve cheese melt without the cheese and hold the chips!!! I had never asked anyone to hold the cheese before!! <lightbulb going on over head> ah! so I can request food the way I want it and I won't be thrown out the cafe!!
OK, now for something different. Could everyone who visits my diary tell me their favourite workout song. Can be all time favourite or just current favourite. I'll start and say current favourite is Madonna's "Sorry", though I'm not a big fan and all time favourite is anything by early Stones.

Didn't get to the gym today. Ramblings
Even though I didn't get to the gym I still did a lot of walking. Friends and I took our children to a wildlife reserve. Went for long bushwalk and did lots of chasing after balls at the picnic/playground area. Packed a s/w, fruit and a thermos for me so I wouldn't be tempted to nibble on chips etc. It was a glorious winters day, beautiful cloudless blue sky, warm sunshine and children that behaved
Friday night has always been our take away night. This has been the downfall of many attempts to lose weight. I used to say to myself, "just 1 night won't hurt", which is true. However Fridays would lead into Saturdays, and then Sundays and by the time Monday came around I would've regained the meagre loss I had achieved the previous week!
Tonight was different, I didn't want to undo my hard earned weekly loss AND I recognised I wouldnt stop at just 1 burger on Friday night.
Troutman - I'm following your example and omitting something for two weeks. I'm deleting from my food vocabulary 'Chocolate' and 'Friday night take aways'.
I'm still doing battle with my ticker How do I get the weight to read 97.5kgs. Using the decimal point is confusing it |

No gym - did a lot of walking on family outing Ramblings
Had another good day. Feel great! Went out today with the family, lots of walking!! I should have planned to take some fruit for morning tea because I was quite hungry by the time we had lunch which was quite late (2.30pm). We stopped at a cafe for morning tea, I was so tempted to order some yummy looking cake to have with my latte. Luckily latte filled me up with a huge glass of water as well.
As I type this I'm feeling a snack attack coming on It's 10.30pm, everyone is asleep and I'm feeling a bit peckish. Hopefully a big glass of water will do the trick!
My willpower will be put to the test tomorrow. We have friends coming for the afternoon/evening. I'll have to prepare afternoon tea, nibblies and dinner. I don't want to start snacking and then say what the heck, I might as well go on an eating binge. I always overcater for visitors and end up eating all the leftovers, so tomorrow I'll try and cut back .
I'll let you know next post how I went.
