if you use a program like www.fitday.com or www.sparkpeople.com - you can enter the fruit you've eaten as well as how much of it you have had... it will automatically calculate the calories plus other good nutrients for you...

Hey Kallie! Glad ya joined us- I love it here(I've been on vacation for a while, but I'm back, and I'm frickin religious about this site, so it'll be nice getting to know ya ) its a great place for support... In an earlier post ya asked about how to get over cravings, and I've got a few things that I do: Sugar free jello and puddings- with whip cream- soooo yummy if ya need sweets! And total, even with the puddings and wc, it equals about 75 cals. So thats an awesome deal. Or rice pudding cups(90 cals) with a tbsp of honey(60 cals) is yummy too. THeres also 100cal packs of popcorn if you crave something thats not sweet, and ranch rice cakes are a good one to...lol... I've been doing this for about 7 months now, so I could go on and on, but I'll quit now have a great day!!

Great diary

Hi Miss Kallie
Just had to say great diary. You really sound like this is the time to do "it" and that nothing is going to stop you. I admire your daily goals.

Walking is the best exercise, I love it as well as cycling. I usually do my workout at a gym on treadmill, bike and do weight sessions about 3 times per week. You'll find it is amazing how quickly your fitness improves if you just keep walking everyday. It doesn't have to be far or intense to begin with, the main thing is to get into the routine of incorporating a walk into your daily life.

As for cravings, I usually try to drink lots of water Though when I do give into the cravings, I don't beat myself up anymore, I just move on. After all no one's perfect.

Miss Kallie -
I love your diary! You are so motivated. Your list of reasons for losing weight made me want to cry. It is so inspired! I know if you keep those reasons in mind, nothing can stop you. Your walking goals are fantastic. It is really great that you are starting and maintaining realistic goals for yourself. I'm so glad we're on the same team!
(BTW I love the triathlon one!!)

Good morning everyone (HAHA),

I had a very late night last night and didn't get to bed until almost 3 am and I just pulled my butt out of bed right now (10 am) I am already 2 hours behind my schedual.
***I now have a new goal for today and that is to be in bed by 10pm so I can wake up in the morning.***

Thank you guys sooooooo much for your comments. It means a lot to me.

So in my stupor fog I was in when I woke up I got on the scale but then I remembered and never looked at the number lol. I didn't even realize what a habit that was for me.

Now I will have my morning snack (missed breakfast due to ZzzzZZzz's) and then I will get out side with my son this afternoon instead of this morning and I'll tidy the house until lunch time instead.

I really want to start this walking plan because last year in September when I started university I never dreamt that I would have to do that much walking in that short of time. I was often the last person and late for my classes that were far apart. I even went to the doctor because I was getting these extremely painful cramps in the back of my legs that wouldn't go away until I had been sitting for a half hour. The doctor said that it was because those were muscles that hadn't been used in a long time and it was going to hurt until they got back into shape. I have been out of school since April and I haven't done hardly anything so I'm quite sure that they are out of shape again.

I kind of want to surprise people when I go back to school. I figure if I lose my 2 pounds a week, I can be 20 lbs lighter.

Oh and I've got a question for you all.....I have not be able to get a job. Like the basic job ex. cashier job at a safeway or cashier at a mac's store. I sometimes get this feeling like they think I'm lazy or that I won't work hard because I'm big. I also know satistically speaking that at the interview, the employer decided whether or not to hire someone within the first 30 seconds.....am I crazy for thinking this????

No, you are not crazy about that at all. Unfortunately, that is the way things often are out in the world. People have preconceived notions about all types of people, including the overweight. I think about the best you can say about being rejected based on such a thing is that maybe you would not have wanted to work for that kind of person anyway.

One thing you might do to find a job is network with family and friends. Tell everyone who knows you that you are looking for work, and see if they could be a reference. A good reference goes a long way toward dispelling stereotypes. Good luck!

Just checking your to do list for today and I hope you just had your 3 pm snack!!!

For cravings - try brushing your teeth. You won't want to eat after you teeth all nice and shiny.

For calorie counts - I like to use www.foodcount.com

You're doing good honey...you made some awesome food choices while you were at your in-laws.

I missed my breakfast this morning but I had my morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack at the appointed times. I've only consumed 407 cals but if I had woken up in time for breakfast, it would have been closer to 800.

I've had 32 fluid oz of water so far. I'm working on getting my third 16 oz cup finished. I plan to drink 80 fluid ozs a day.

I think I'm doing really well but I haven't gone for that walk yet and I haven't really cleaned much. I've only put a load of laundry on. I seriously need a kick in the butt for exercise. It's so crazy because I know I love the feeling. I used to walk 4 miles a day and I absolutely love sore muscles, especially from lunges (sp??). It makes me feel alive. SO why do I have such a hard time going??????

I've been thinking about getting a treadmill or something to that effect. I was just reading in Hillbilly's diary about him noticing that a lot of equipment have this 250 lbs max rule and I have noticed that too..not helpful to me. Any suggestions on where to look and price ranges?????

a decent treadmill is gonna set you back a few hundred or more dollars.. what you might try is www.craigslist.com to see if people are sellng used equipment in your area...

Actually when I bought my bike from nordik track - I asked about the weight limit -and the round about answer i got was - unless it's a stair climber - then then the the weight limit is more for - well lady you weigh 360 lbs ya sure you're ok to be doing that??? there is soem equipment that is shoddily made though, and you get what you pay for.. those i woldn't trust at 150 lbs..

I just wanted to add a little backround to my diary:

My mom has been overweight/obese for as long as I can remember and my dad is overweight too. They both have type 2 diabetes.

My mom and I were talking recently and she informed me that she was going to be going for a gastric bypass consalt with a doctor. After that I started doing some reading on it and I honestly don't know how to feel about it. There are many risks that accompany this surgery, even death ( .05 percent to 5 percent) and I even know someone who passed from this opperation.

I am scared for my mom. To me it looks like she is looking for a "quick fix" because she has not even tried to modify her lifestyle or to lose weight on her own.

The thing that got me started on wanting to get healthy was reading all this information about obesity and the possible and probable effects it has on one's health.

good idea to do it while you're still young too- it gets a bit harder as you get older and the bodies metabolism naturally slows down.. especially in those years approacing menopause...

You're doing the right thing - you're modifying your lifestyle... and that sets a good example for your child.. and if your husband were to pick up your habits, well he's not gonna be young forever, so gotta get the goodhabits in whiel you can..

I hear ya onthe job thing- I have three jobs- a health food store, a gym, and a pool hall, and when I tell people where I work, I always get that YOU work at a gym?!? reaction... but hey, as long as your confident in your abilities, and you act confident and happy, good things'll happen

At GNC I get a lot of customers that have had the operation done(they hafta drink loads of nasty liquid protein for a long time before they can eat real stuff bleh), and I know where your coming from there to- a lot of people don't try before they go for the "quick fix"... I hope your mom does well on it

I've thought of a couple more things to add to my lists of why I want to lose weight and become healthy:

I want to be able to jump on the tampoline with my son
I want to be able to buy things that have a weight limit and be able to use them.
