Hi there folks, my name is Kaitie and my husband and I started our diets---again. It really is a dire situation now, he's almost 500 pounds and I can't stand it anymore. His weight is stopping us from doing so many things. We signed up for LA Fitness and I got him a trainer 3 times a week...so hopefully he'll start shedding the weight---and fast. I'm a bit overweight and have a strong desire to be like those girls who have flat (almost concave) stomachs.
Ok, so we've worked out everyday this week so far and John meets with his trainer for the first time tomorrow. I just need people to tell me to keep going.
So, the open part of my diary....anyone can come and visit, tell their story whatever. If you don't want to start your own diary you can use this one...
*crosses fingers*

I really want to stay motivated this time, especially for my extremely obese husband. I got him a trainer and now just need to make sure that I stay on track to losing weight as well---because I want to be a skinny minny.
There's a whole lot of I's in that statement... Unless it's something that he wants... He's not gonna lose any weight...
I hope he wants it....it was his idea to get a trainer. If he doesn't want it (again...for what feels like the millionth dang diet he's been on) I'm just going to have to give up and take really drastic measures. I love him, but I also want to live my life---there are things that I need and want that a 500 pound man cannot give me. I've been with him for 7 years, how much longer do I have to wait....
Anyway, since I started my diet on Monday I've lost two pounds (weehee) and I'm so participating in the FSD--there's nothing worse than weighing yourself everyday. The mental anguish of gaining a pound, losing a pound, etc...is unbearable.
Hi, Kaitie! Welcome! Good luck to both you and your husband. Like maleficent said, he's got a long road ahead of him. But we all do, to some extent. He, and you, have taken the most-important first step just by wanting to do something about your weight. And there are so many people on this forum who have, and are, walking that walk. We're here for both of you. Please ... keep us posted and let us know how we can help.
kaitie its hard being so big when everyone else only has to lose 30-40 pounds. For me I went through the whats the point stage. If he wants someone to talk to for ideas or whatever, he can pm me on here or sparkpeople using the same member name. He can also hit me at ceet2007 on the yahoo messenger.
^ Thanks a bunch and congrats on the 55 pounds---that's a great achievement!
Today was ok, I ate a muffin for breakfast but it seemed so heavy after everything else I've been eating this week. Maybe I'll try half of it next time. I had a really small lunch but made up for it at dinner I suppose. I made chicken with rice, carrots, celery, and nonsalted cashews and had a little watermelon (yum).
The workout session was good, I tried a new machine and hated it. I'm stickin' to my other fav. Walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill as well. I need better sneakers my heels hurt in these.
I have a question too...my shins burn like crazy when I start walking about 2.8 mph....after forcing myself to keep going the burning went away--is there anything I can do to stop that from happening?
Welcome Kaitie and congrats on your weight loss. With you and your husband losing weight together is very good. Motivation for both of you. Good to have you here and have a great weekend.
Yup, sounds like shin splints to me too. (I've had them enough) When I get them, I try stretching them out by slowly rotating my ankle, pointing it down, then side to side.
alot of runners and power walkers get them. Back along time ago when I ran they would hurt something awful. After some time they seem to quit but man they hurt when they are there.
