Rep Power: 43 | | Well that sounds like a good deal for your daughter and you. How long is the race she is in?
(I hope you don't have to race up any windy mountain roads on which you are likely to encounter tourists in motorhomes who thought they were going to be travelling on a two way road with enough space for two whole vehicles but have somehow ended up on a two way road which seems so narrow that they drive on in fear of toppling over one unguarded edge into the valley or squashing cyclists into the rockface on blind bends. Some New Zealanders just take this sort of situation as the way things are I know, yet I hope for easier routes for you!!) |

Rep Power: 17 | | | I can't bike up... anything! Any lil hill and I'm like...AHHHH! It's so hard! I mean we don't have many hills here, so not much to practice on until you get to the really steep stuff. So it's hard to from flat to steep when you're not used to it, lol. Ah well! There's so much I want to be able to be good at (running, cycling, swimming) all things I can't really do. I just need to focus on one and practice I guess.
Good luck on the race with you and your daughter! |

Rep Power: 79 | | as i tell my kids, there are 2 voices in your head (yeah yeah voices in the head).
One is subconcious that will tell you shit like 'nah dont bother, easier to sit back and relax or complain .. why are we doing this anyway?'
and then there is the consious voice which is the one you control. This is the one that makes shit happen. It says 'ok lets go along with the other voice' or 'stfu, im gonna kick this hills ass'
Goes for dieting as well - you choose what voice you listen to - personally i know its harder to ignore the subconcious voice because its such a strong pull to be lazy, but its really a stupid voice and doesnt know what its talking about and once convinced to do stuff is more inclined to do it later |

Rep Power: 43 | | Just north of Wellington. We decided to take the scenic route across the island from where we were staying near Kapiti Island on the west coast across to Upper Hutt in the east. It was scenic too. However I was in the back of the van looking out the window at the ferns growing up the rock face and feeling pretty nervous about the way that they looked like they were only a foot or so away from us, when suddenly out popped these cyclists from between the van and the rockface. We kept seeing more after that too, I guess we were going the opposite way to them over their race course. We did take other roads as scary in the south island though. When we drove up to the snowfield in Cardrona near Queenstown, it was just as narrow and winding but was also unsealed and it started snowing as we drove up. If I'd had to be the driver I think our first mountain would have been our last! |

Rep Power: 79 | | ok its been a while again. im coming here less and less i find lol
No weight loss at all, but i havnt logged the food i eat either for a couple months now.
I did Bike The Lake again yesterday. Same race i did last year. Its a great entry level bike race of 42km for 1 lap... this year took me about 8 minutes longer, though i could have easily (and have done) knocked about 30-40 mins off that time. ... the reason i took longer was this ...
This is Chelsea, shes 11 years old. She put in the effort and trained like a demon to be able to manage the 42kms. My husband was so proud of her he said he would buy her a newer and better race bike if she managed it under 2 hours.
Shes getting her new bike
Not to be outdone, the younger kids did 5km and got a certificate and medal .. This is Elle-Mae and Quantum
Now my goal is to train as hard as i can, because i was silly enough to register for a 160km bike race that happens in 3 weeks :O
I estimate its going to burn about 1kg worth of calories in 1 day so im REALLY gonna have to eat (hah how cool is this sport man?!) before/during/after
Not to mention the training over the next 3 weeks which should keep mee off the computer some more :O |

Rep Power: 79 | | Thanks for your compliments
This is a massive message to family and friends. I rarely (if ever) send mass messages out.
Most of you know what ive gone through in the last year or two with weight loss, and im all for helping others. Loosing over 70kg hasnt always been easy, but support was a key factor.
Now if only i can channel that support into something that helps others who may not as be as fortunate as ourselves.
Come support me as I participate in Heart 2 Heart 160km Challenge 2007 in an effort to raise funds for Heart Children New Zealand Inc.
I realize that some of you dont have funds right now to do this, and some have a lot going on in their life and cant. But if you can even spare $5 to help these kids, it would be most appretiated.
I've set up a web page at Liz Quilty's Fundraising Page
Spread the word, pass the link on to your friends and others who can donate |
