Rep Power: 79 | | Okay, got up at 6.30am, got all the bike and gear ready, the race start was late at 8.30am (was supposed to be 8.05am).
I had no problems during the race other than the chain comming off at one point (took a couple mins to sort out but was good otherwise). Uphills were the worst because i was carrying 50kg more than most riders. Downhills were the highlight (for the same reason uphills sucked!) and i kicked some major ass. Along the flat (most of it) i did pretty good.
My goals were
1) Finish the race
2) do more than 20km per hour so i finished it in under 2 hours
Im happy that i achieved both those!
Okay, some stats.
Race was 42km. Took 1 hour 44 mins. I averaged at 25-30km per hour. Max speed was 51km per hour (30 miles per hour).
I drunk 2 litres during the race (finished the 2L bladder right on the finish line), then drank another 2 litrs. So 4 litrs before lunch alone (thats about a gallon i think).
Sat in the spa for an hour at the local hot pools, then went to prize giving (not even a spot prize for me lol!). Then i drove the 3 hours home, the last 30 mins husband drove because i was to tired.
Stayed within my 1200 cal the entire time even without fitday (just naturally chose the right foods). That includes some carb jelly stuff i got given for free. Had an ice cream today after the race to give back some sugar, had it chocolate coated with nuts! it was awesome and yes im still within my calorie range thanks to a light ham roll for lunch and dinner.
All over it was a fricken awesome weekend. We hit the stock car races and saw a fireworks display the saturday night also - so i rode the race on sunday with only 6 hours sleep hehe Pics of the race and me here |

Rep Power: 0 | | *OHD shakes her pom poms like a mad woman and runs around the room yelling* Dang girl! I am super impressed! That sounds awesome! I am so proud of and inspired by you. I would love to be able to do something like this, but I think I need to do a lot more strength training to prepare myself, I'm not strong enough I don't think.
You did awesome, made it to the end and met both of your goals! AND stayed within your cal range! Damn woman you are FREAKING AWESOME. You've been added to my shero list! *hugs* The pictures look great. The whole event looks like so much fun, so much energy in those pics...I can feel it!
Ohh and I LOOOOVE fireworks, so it was so cool that you got to see that. |
