Wonderful Weightloss: Mia's Analog of Alliteration XD

Sorry for the cheesy title, lol.

Anyways, I've joined this forum so that I could get a bit of support on my journey of weight loss, and so that I could perhaps help you all out as well! =D I've never lost weight in my life, it has just been a steady gain, so I'm kind of afraid that I can't... But even if that is the case, I'll at least try to eat a bit healthier so that I can benefit from proper nutrition in the future.

My problem's probably going to end up being my sweet tooth, but I hope that I may ameliorate that by cutting added sugars out of my diet for a few weeks at least... It's going to be difficult, but I hope that I will see the effects soon enough!

A little information about me is in order, I suppose... I'm 18 and a college freshmen, and I've gained 13 pounds since starting. (And I didn't think that the freshman fifteen would happen to me, of all people... yikes!) I'm not actually overweight, but I've become alarmed at how expediantly my body can pack on the pounds when I go a little (read: a lot) overboard on the candy.

curse you halloween .__.

Anyways... I've struggled with binge eating for about two years and it's time for me to get back to my old body, the one that I didn't hate, and lose this skewed mentality of food as a punishment. Since it's not... It's what keeps us alive ><

Sorry to ramble! I'll start posting my totals and the like tomorrow, though they're not nearly as low as what I see in most journals on this forum

I'll do my best ^^

~Mia

college is a hard time food wise. Just try and take it one day at a time. It's odd how that put all those yummie food places right next to school not to mention the ones they put inside the school....

College is a tough time to lose or maintain weight. When I lived in the dorms, they had some healthy food in the cafeteria, but they also delivered pizza right to our door, sold ice cream by the pint and had cookie dough on the salad bar. That's right, cookie dough. On the SALAD BAR. When I left the dorms, I had the problem of having very little access to fresh fruits and veggies. That was a simple carb and sugar filled time in my life. Yikes. Plus, weird hours don't help, and college is full of all nighters and sleeping late.

Eating healthier is a great goal, and yes, halloween is evil. Good luck!

Thanks guys ^^ I already ate a candy bar today... Ugh. I wish they limited the junk food they sold in vending machines here, like in highschool, lol. I'll try not to eat anything else for breakfast though and hopefully I'll still come in at my calorie goal... Not sure how much sugar can mess up your diet or anything.

You're totally right though, it's like they want us to gain weight in college! There's so much junk just lying around, this is going to be a difficult journey, lol.

Wow... I just had the urge to eat my last meal of the day really early, which would probably lead to overeating later, but I came on the forums instead and the cravings went away.

I guess this is working!

I feel sort of lame spamming my own diary... It has to be the least popular one on the forums XD

Anyways, here are my calorie totals for today. I looked at sparkpeople and it said that I should be eating 1200-1500, which is a bit less than what I was eating before!

Breakfast:
Kit Kit Big Kat Bar (bad me ><): 240

Lunch:
Jamba Juice: 300
Popcorn: 180
Pack of gum: 75

Dinner:
Cereal: 400 (I think... I don't have a measuring cup)

Total: 1195

I hope that I don't get too hungry and give in to snacking tonight :\

Oops... I ate a bag of mini pretzels at the gym so I have to bump my intake up to:

1415

I was going to try and stick to the 1200-1300 range *sigh*

I burned 824 calories at the gym to make up for it but I don't know if that's enough >< I've just never lost weight before so I'm worried that no matter what I do the pounds wont budge, and will just collect slowly.

But! Everyone was ordering ice cream at the cafe and all I got was water ^^

@hillbillylee: Yeah... I do live out of the vending machine, lol. It's a big drain on my wallet, I don't even have enough money to do the laundry tonight, which I really need to do because I'm out of clothes. Oh well.

I'm not that worried about it, really, a little support would be nice but it's also good to just write down everything that I eat so that I can keep track of it. I've always been obsessed with food so I have an uncanny ability to remember calories XD

@T2: Thank you! Good luck to you, too

Ugh... I got under three hours of sleep tonight, again. I feel like crap and don't even want to eat today >< Which is the first time in a long time thats ever happened... Maybe I need to focus on getting sleep even more than my diet, because this is getting seriousl unhealthy I look like a completely different person now than when I started college, old and exhausted. No one can even believe that I'm only 18, because I look so much older! And that feels really poorly, because I value youth :\

Anyway, my room mate keeps my up all night with her snoring, coupled with my insomnia... And she refuses to do anything about it, like trying breath right strips and the like. She'll just shrug and turn back to her computer when I tell her that she keeps me up until 5-6 AM.

Sometimes I get up and slam the door to wake her up when she starts snoring, which sounds mean, but it really isn't since she goes back to sleep pand starts snoring again in about 15 seconds. It's soo frustrating!! I would try earplugs but then I wouldn't be able to hear my alarm... I just don't know what to do. They won't let us change room mates either, so I'm stuck! If this keeps going, I might have to drop out of college and try again later, because I can't think all day, it feels like my brain is saturated in a fog of exhaustion.

Sorry for rambling... I should eat some lunch, I guess.

Hi trimverate,

Never worry about spamming your own diary - it's here for that. It's here to use however you want to. As you go poking into other diaries, you'll find more people poking into yours and you'll get to know some of us probably more then you ever wanted to

My husband snores - each and every time he wakes me up, I wake him up and ask him to roll over. He's now sleeping on his side and snores less. Being passive aggressive (waking up and slamming the door to wake your room mate up is passive aggressive) never really helps solve any problems, and generally only leads to more frustration.

Just wake her up gently and say, "You're snoring, can you roll over" Can you sleep with a white noise machine that also works as an alarm clock?

As for the weight, reducing proportions and simply being aware of what and how much you're eating should be a great way to help move some of those pounds you've picked up. Good for you for trying to catch this early.

Welcome to the WLF

Thanks... I only recently started the slamming the door thing. I used to try waking her up nicely, but whenever I do that she just gives me this look of sheer loathing and disgust... It makes me never want to see her again ><

She seems to snore in whatever position she is, so I don't know if sleeping on her side would help. I'll ask today if they can give me temporary lodging or something in the crash room until the semester ends, even if people say that it's haunted XD

Anyways, thank you for your encouragement! The thing about white noise is that I need dead silence to fall asleep, lol. It's a good suggestion though

I'm feeling a little bit better now, thanks again for the help, M2M. I'm going to try earplugs after all, and I got another refill of my sleeping medication so maybe that will help.

I had a victory today! They were giving out free mini candy bars at the local Albertsons (...one of the many XD) and I picked up a tiny Hershey's bar... But ended up not eating it! It was only 50 calories but I really do want to stick to this no candy thing and see where it takes me. I never ate candy when I was skinny, anyway, so no need to start now that I'm in college.

I did buy some delicious chocolate-scented shampoo as a reward, though =D It's awesome, I didn't know that they made this stuff!

Anyways, here are my totals for today:

Breakfast:

Skipped it... I have class first thing in the morning, and didn't feel like eating afterwards. First time in a long time that that's happened.

Lunch:

Jamba Juice: 300
Kettle Korn: 180

Dinner:

Non-Fat Chai Latte (Starbucks): 211

Others:

Sugar-Free Gum: 75

Total:

766 calories

>.>

Maybe I should eat some more... I'll update this if I do. I don't have time to go to the gym today and burn large amounds of calories though, so I'm not so sure.

Paying for the laundry is a pain XD

calories look a little low for a daily total. ummm haven't seen any veggies or meats. if your a vegetarian just try and get some beans or peanut butter in place of the meat. tis true the jamba juice has carrot and orange blends but remember to get some green things in. jamba juice has wheat grass shots but a warning, taste like hell lol...
