Rep Power: 0 | | | Maybe This Will Help So here's the deal, I'll say that I'm going to start dieting, but by the end of the day I'm usually so stressed about school and work and everything else that's going on in my life that I just throw everything out the window and say "Eh, tomorrow'll be better. I'll start tomorrow"
So Starting this journal doesn't sound like a terrible idea. I've had journals in the past, but livejournal is a little different from this :P Slightly less productive, I'd imagine
Anyways, all I've had to eat so far today is 2 big glasses of water... I keep a funny sleep schedule too, since I work early mornigs half the week and try to act like a regular student the other half... It throws my eating off I think. I'm a member of a gym and try to get in at least twice a week, but it doesn't always happen
I won a couple of fress personal training sessions recently, so maybe I'll get on that next week, after the mid-term essay blitz is over. Anyways, any suggestions would be much appreciated... I'll post what I eat at the end of the day |

Rep Power: 30 | | This site is chock full of great ideas & incredible support! Good luck with your goals.
Awesome about winning the free training sessions! Very cool. Good place to get ideas on starting a program. Maybe you need to up the calorie intake earlier in the day so that your body doesn't feel deprived & end up wanting everything later after the stress hits. I know spreading it out through out the day has helped me to not binge at the end of the day.
Sparkpeople.com is where I track what I eat (well.. when I do...kinda dropped that habit, but I am hoping to start back up soon.). It was an eye opener to see that I was eating hardly anything throughout the day (working too much to focus on food).. then eating everything I could at night.
GOOD LUCK!
Glad you are here. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Post 2 Aaaaah! So I wrote one entry and then sort of got off the diary writing train... So here we are, several months later... I topped out at 210, but I am now 202, 4 weeks after the fact. I've been running for 45 minutes a day on the elliptical, and I break up my weights by doing one day arms, one day legs on the machine circuit at my gym. It seems to be working, and it's coming off slowly, which tells me I'm doing it the right way
As for food, I've been eating a lot of fruits and veggies, yogurt, turkey wraps, chicken breasts... Basically grazing. I haven't felt stuffed in a couple of weeks, and I think I like not feeling like that. I never realized how uncomfortable I felt after big meals until I *stopped* eating the big meals. It's actually really nice. Also, being told you look great, and "what have you been doing? You're fabulous" feels pretty wonderful too.
Saturdays are my cheat days when it comes to calories. I usually eat 1300-1700 a day, but I don't count on Saturdays at all. It keeps me focused through the week, which is awesome. The best way to avoid a binge is apparently to give in to your cravings in moderation from time to time. Who knew?
So I've learned SO much from this website and all the friendly people on it. I'm excited to get down to my goal weight. I haven't been 170lbs since jr high, and I think it's entirely possible to get there now. I always sort of struggled when I wanted to lose weight because I do have a lot of muscle, it's just the way my body is, I have a thyroid problem, and I never really tried hard to keep my caloric intake under control. This is just... it's SO exciting to actually be able to lose and not have to deny myself everything I like all the time. EEEEE!
That's it for now. Thanks for all the advice and support I've gotten so far! You guys are all awesome! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Post 3 So I haven't been to the gym in a week... I know I'm just paranoid, but I feel like I'm bloating up... well, I guess it's not just paranoia, Aunt Flo's in too, so that's probably got something to do with it.
My mom came in for a visit, and I was so stressed out about it that I just couldn't make myself do anything but what I was required to do (ie go to work)... I'm going to visit the man for a couple of days and then when I get back on Saturday it's right from the Greyhound Station to the Gym...
I hope... |

Rep Power: 30 | | I completely understand you on the stress thing... some days its just a battle to breath. & that TOM will definitely make you feel stressed & bloated. Exercising actually seems to help me feel it less believe it or not.
Have fun with the man.
Maybe you can get in a few informal exercise moments in there somewhere... a few extra paces or laps around the store. Make several trips carrying things rather than just loading up everything all at once.. get creative... pillow fight?

Rep Power: 0 | | We actually went to the Toronto Zoo, which was awesome. 5 hours of walking around has never seemed so short... I know I got at least a little bit of a workout. It's a STEEP hill down to the Canadian exhibits, and it's a long way up |

Rep Power: 0 | | I think it's great when exercise and truly enjoyable recreation combine.
I'm not a "natural" exerciser (I do view it is a chore, in many ways) and it's cool when you can do something that you actually like that simultaneously assists in the weight loss department.
Keep up the journaling, too. I'm just starting my adventure and am blogging it everyday. I think that creates an additional level of accountability to help me stay on track.

Rep Power: 30 | | | AWESOME with the zoo workout! Those are the best. When 5 hours flies by doing anything... well then you know you are having fun. Just hope you don't get sore tomorrow... that's when reality usually hits me. |

Bust - 42"
Waist - 38"
Hips - 43"
Umm, so that's higher than I'd like... But yeah, with work it'll come down...But no work tonight. Just Soup, water, tea and naps :S I hate the flu! |

This is what I've been hoping for! I don't care about the numbers on the scare, but the re-sculting of my body is important to me.
