Rep Power: 0 | | Ah, I grew up in South Alabama, so I am always used to the beach being at least 2 hours away. I was shocked when I heard some people hadn't seen the beach either! ...then again I didn't really see the mountains until last year (I'm 20).... |

I'm hoping our trip to New Zealand later this year will be a first time for my children and myself. |

Its also really cold at the same time, which might bring the pretty level down a bit. I'm used to seeing it, so sometimes its just bothersome to driving. lol. But really, snow makes everything look so peaceful, clean (because its white lol), and makes you want to sip hot cocoa and eat chicken noodle soup. It makes me happy when it snows. Everything looks so calm, and its awesome. i hope you get to see some.
unfortunately it hasnt snowed here yet this winter. And i live in Massachusetts, pretty far north in the US.
have fun in NZ take lots of pictures. |

Rep Power: 43 | | For sure. It's not until the end of September. It might make a bit of a blip in the weight loss thing. Hopefully I will have things well enough sorted by then. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | beaches and snow Well, as my location states, I live in Kansas. That is smack dab in the middle of the US. I have lived in 4 other states and they have all been in the midwest or the northern part of the US. So, I, unfortunately, have never seen the ocean. I have been on the beach of a lake before but that is definitely not the same. Also, I am deathly afraid of stepping in water where fish happen to also reside! LOL I don't know why, it just freaks me out! I think I would probably love the beach though and listening to the waves... my husband has been to the NW coast of the US and he wants us to go together so I can see it also. From what he tells me about it, I know I would love it!
As for snow... well we have more than enough for me of that here! In fact, the western part of Kansas just got so much snow that my brother and his family are still without power and that is going on over a week I think now. I feel bad for them. They are keeping warm though running a gas oven. That scares me too because of carbon monoxide but he says they are keeping the house well ventilated also. I believe they said on the news that there were 60,000 customers without electricity in Western Kansas/Eastern Colorado! So, snow can be a nuisance but yes it is beautiful also!

Rep Power: 66 | | Hello Felici The mood of your diary seems to be in a great state of accomplishment.
Sleep is much more important than we rarely discuss on this forum. My biggest struggles are when my sleep goes cattywhompus on me though I do adjust, I'd just as soon stay regular with my sleep, it really sets up my day for success in all things concerning eating and exercise. A well-rested body seems to just do better.
I'll make a snowball and ship it to ya Our beautiful record high temps are diminishing sometime tonight with snow in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday - oh well, it was inevitable |

The weather is pretty hot at the moment, but then it never really differs that much

Julie | It's not nice to sit on the beach if the sand is blowing in your face - but other than that I always love it - the sound is one of the best parts.
From what I hear about the inconvenience of snow I don't mind not spending long times in it - but it is so hard to even work out what it is like without being in it! Quote:

...snow in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday - oh well, it was inevitable | Good sleep makes things a lot easier for me too - maybe for everyone. The less you sleep, the more weight you may gain.
So say School of Medicine researchers, who found in a recent study that sleep loss leads to higher levels of a hormone that triggers appetite, lower levels of a hormone that tells the body it’s full and an increased body mass index. Obesity linked to hormonal changes, lack of sleep
Though I would like to see snow... I would not like to see it all over the places I want to walk - stopping me from walking!! I admire the extra effort I see you go to in keeping up your walking despite the snow - and it helps me appreciate that I do have things easy in many ways.
I guess the 8.25 miles type walks will have to wait a bit now. Quote:

Rep Power: 43 | | | I had the glucose tolerance test this morning. On the way there I thought vaguely that a whole bunch of sugar on an empty stomach was the exact thing I have been avoiding for the last 40 days.
After an hour and a half I started feeling sleepy, by the time it finished I was woozy. I went home and had breakfast then just went to bed and slept for about an hour. I ended up with a whole lot of reactions which I have associated previously with waiting too long to eat – lethargy, headache, confusion, lightheadedness, irritability, rapid pulse. I think these are not uncommon reactions to the test. I don’t know if they mean I am diabetic, normal or hypoglycaemic. I even woke up feeling like eating something sugary. I had rockmelon. I am glad I had some good habits to keep me going while I couldn’t think too well. I reckon I ate as well as I could.
I walked my normal walk. At first I thought I could do it like yesterday but although it didn't seem too long, I was feeling upset about nothing much, and lightheaded and didn’t walk fast. I have been kind of getting better all day but in an up and down kind of way.
I have to wait till Thursday for my results. I hope I can feel normal again tomorrow and don’t have to do a whole sugar withdrawal thing. I don’t have cravings. I might try and make myself have my snacks tomorrow - just shift some of the carbohydrate from the meals. Breakfast ~11:15 2 weetbix., 1 C soya milk, 1 boiled egg, 1 slice wholemeal toast with minimal margarine and strawberry jam, 1/2 glass tomato juice, a little white coffee.Snack?1:00 1 C rockmelon.Lunch ~ 4:00 Toasted lite ham, lite cheese, tomato, mushroom, olive sandwich. Dinner: 9:00 1 chicken thigh grilled with herbs, <1 C spiral pasta with an onion, garlic, mushroom, bacon, egg white, topping, a little olive oil. 1 cup salad (lettuce, celery, carrot, sugar snap peas, olives, tomato, Exercise: 8:00 47 min walk but took 1 hour Water: 2000ml Yesterday’s Bedtime: 10:50
On plan:41 days Achieved food target: 35 days Exercised: 33 days All goals: 6 days.
