Hey felici-

Just stopping in to say hi.

Hope the computer troubles are solved soon.

You seem to be doing well otherwise...keep with it!

gwal - Thanks. It's nice to see you.

M2M - It's 10:30. My bedtime has become very elastic lately. This is Friday night so it's netparty time!

I guess it's a bit of a balancing act - keeping a balance from day to day and balancing the moderate days with a bit of immoderation from time to time to keep another sort of balance. I hope you're wobbles are feeling better, Randy.

Breakfast 10:30 2 weetbix,. 1C lowfat soy milk. 1/3 C tinned peaches. 1 slice wholemeal toast with minimal margarine and marmalade. Boiled egg. ½ glass tomato juice.1 C coffee with 40 ml Hilo.

Lunch: 3:00
2 C Leftover salad. (sugar snap peas, broccoli, capsicum, mushrooms, grated carrot, tomato, olives, 50 gm corn)

Exercise 5:50 3.1 mile local walk. This started a little late to get me home in time, but felt nice.

Snack 7:00 pm handful almonds

Dinner 9::00 ¾ C glass noodles. Chilli and lime chicken salad. About 150 gm chicken boiled in stock and sliced, with finely sliced, carrot, capsicum, chinese cabbage, spring onion, bean sprouts, fresh coriander and rocket. Chilli and lime dressing as for yesterday’s lunch.

Very professional looking!! Very yummy, I thought!

Thanks 2skinny.

I often eat rather plain food I guess. Yesterday night's meal was more trouble than I am prepared to go to regularly. Then on the weekends my husband often cooks and makes something a bit less healthy. I don't check everything I do and it may be that some of my meals are a bit high in sodium (seeing as I don't check, I don't know).

I do love my plain repetetive meals though. I like not having to think much about what to eat most of the time. Sometimes when I eat dry crackers, it's just because I think it is time for some carbs and they take no bother, so I don't actually enjoy them much then - but then again I don't care either! Mostly I take care to buy really fresh veges - and I love them!! Juicy crunchy tasty rinse-and-eat, no fuss, great-for-lazy bones, no-guilt veges just make me happy. And I make sure I have some special fruit around to treat myself on too.

Hi, Felici!
I second you there about the veg and fruit. I love fresh salads! Sometimes I had a thing about being too lazy to wash, peel and chop, but I got over that just because they are so yummy. And there's a lot of fibre, vitamins and taste in such a low calorie content. My treat lately has been grapes and strawberries.. Just waiting for the fresh strawberries though, just frozen ones available here at the moment..
Juliette

Hi Juliette

For sure fruit and veges are good value. I used to make a diced salad most nights because I was in the habit of it from when my son had braces. Now I still have the same veges most nights but sometimes I don't dice or grate them the way I used to. I actually think they're pretty good value for effort, because most of the things I like are fine to eat after no more than a quick rinse under the tap.

Breakfast 10:30 2 weetbix,. 1C lowfat soy milk. 1/3 C tinned peaches. 1 slice wholemeal toast with minimal margarine and marmalade. Boiled egg. ½ glass tomato juice.1 C coffee with 40 ml Hilo.

Lunch: (I totally forgot. I was out on the trampoline after dinner before the thought even crossed my mind. I forgot last Saturday too – I will have to do something to fix that. For today that means it’s late night snack time.)

Dinner 6:00 Rump steak (? 150-180 gm). Pepper sauce made with cream (which I mostly wiped off while my husband wasn’t looking). Small roast potato, roast carrot, roast broccoli. Olive oil.

Snack 10:00 A handful of bean sprouts, a handful of sugar snap peas, a carrot, 2 mushrooms, 3 marinated olives and a bunch of grapes (~ 1 C). 5 almonds.

Exercise

5:30. About 20 minutes. My 11 year old daughter wanted to give me a workout. Mostly stretches and warm up exercises she learnt at dancing, but including some nasty feeling things based around a bridge, which I might come back to, and “It’s an oldie but it’s a goodie, Mum - step ups!” Which she did about 3 times faster than me! However, that’s not a bad thought. I hadn’t considered the little set of two steps at one edge of the patio, might be part of a routine but I guess they could be handy.

8:00 30 minutes on the trampoline. Pretty much all jogging, but varying the speed and the arm movements. A few variations with the steps. I might take it in to the bedroom in front of the mirror for a while to help me get more sure about staying in the middle of it. I think if I was more confident I could get more speed up. I was pretty sweaty by the end of it all. I used it on the patio so I could see a clock for most of the time then took it out on the lawn for my cool down. It’s a lot nicer there. I will check out the CD players here again and see if I can find one that works. Music fits in nicely with a trampoline.

It should be great fun I think, and very handy. I can feel that it’s very gentle on my knees.

Putting it together was a hoot. I started off with just my daughter to help but it seemed there was no way we could do it, so she went and got my son. (I was mostly reluctant to involve my husband because I bought one fully assembled once, and after he carried it home for me on a crowded bus, I used it for about 2 weeks.) Anyway, at 13 ½ the boy is big enough now to have grown some useful muscles, a few thoughts of his own, and a sense of humour. The children and I had a lot of fun trying to work out how to make it do the right thing. After twenty minutes we were ready to give up and we let the thing sit for a while. Just one more go and tahdah! Fixed.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

I bought the new trousers. And a singlet.

I tried the trousers on and I was amazed at how different my legs looked. I will never ever have nice looking legs. That’s just how things are. But for today, I am very happy with the change in my thighs.

I came home and wowed the family. Admittedly I was cautious to tell my husband that he needed to make quite sure his reaction was satisfactory, but in fact this probably wasn’t needed. And my son did about 10 very nice authentic double takes!
I got them to take pictures in the same clothes I used for my before pics, and also in the new clothes. They sure take a lot more inches off my appearance.

I really am mostly interested in losing weight for the sake of my health, and I still am only one third of the way to my goal weight – I am still obese, my BMI is 34.7 – I have a long way to go, but looking better sure is a nice bonus.

I will have to publish the pics when they are developed now, seeing as it is quite beyond me to shut up about why I took them. I feel massively different about my before photos now to the way I did at the time. They’re pretty hard to take, but a bit easier to publish now I have new trousers at least.

Finally, I did weigh myself today. I am down only 0.2 kg (0.4 lb) on last week, but wasn’t worried about that as I dropped about 2 weeks worth of weight last time and already thought that would mean nothing much would show on the scales now.
