Oh no... I mean I read the first couple of threads and all, but I wasn't worried about that (didn't even cross my mind.)

For me it was just a question because you've done so well. And I see you like weight lifting, so maybe once you are all toned up you might still be a little heavier than what you want the scale to say. I know that's what I'm hoping for.

I did start measuring myself again so that I have that point to look back on as well.

I see my body as like a gymnast - you know how they have these huge muscular legs? That will be me (hopefully!) I'm sure mine would never be like a stick and that's ok with me.

Good luck!

Smile Thanks for the good wishes!

Morning,

Thanks for the good wishes!! I'm not a slave anymore to the scale - I wouldn't mind staying at 135 forever if my waistline decreases as I'd like. As that hasn't happened yet, however, methinks I'll continue on me path. :-)

Yesterday I had a super workout in self defense and other thingees that left me aching in muscles I never knew I had. So today, I was inspired to hit the gym and meticulously work on every upper body muscle - biceps, triceps, chest, back, deltoids, etc. I took my time and it was simply heavenly to become one with the iron. It's a great way to start a Sunday.

Time now to work,

Barbara

Thumbs up Another pound byebye!

Morning,

Well! Another pound has gone bye-bye and I'm less than 134! 133.1 to be precise, but I'm certain that will bounce around a bit.

Still, though, I'm feeling quite spiffy about it! Yesterday I stepped out of the shower, looked at my body in the mirror and realized, omigosh, my biceps and triceps and deltoids and muscles around that general area are defined! And delineated! Okay, they were that way before...but now I can see the actual shadows created by said muscles!

Good lord but I bounced around the house saying, the Samurai Mom is also the Hot Mom! Woohooo! My kids were most amused by me. :-) I even took pictures that (hopefully!) will be uploaded to my computer soon.

And life continues,

Barbara

Exclamation Gained a pound, lost some inches

Morning,

Well, this certainly is amusing (and if I was a newbie to this, it would be frustrating) - I gained a pound but I've lost inches on my measurements. Today, I'm

35-29-33.5

Since I'm doing just about everything right, eating below maintenance, drinking lots of wawa, etc., I'll just assume I'm retaining water or gaining muscle or whatever it is that's increasing my weight. I'm slimming down, so that's the main thing.

Enjoy,

Barbara

Smile Plateaus

Morning,

Well, it certainly does seem like I'm on a plateau weight-wise, however, the body shape continues to decrease!

That's the good news.

The bad news is, well, actually, there is no bad news....I've internalized it enough within me that whenever the scale laughs hysterically at me, I can simply whip out my trusty tape measure and giggle like a maniac back.

And life continues,

Barbara

Drat my email - I never get notifications whenever anyone responds to my posts. Thanks for your comments!

I'm still bouncing between 130 and 132. But the superDuperMegaCoolio news today is that I can do

Drumroll please!

Unassisted chinups!

Yes indeed, yesterday during my circle walk, I idly stopped by a tree branch and said to myself, self, I'm doing 20 pound assisted chinups at the Y; let's see how difficult it is to do here! And amazingly astonishingly wow-like, I was able to do several of 'em in a row.

Now, this is truly superb news - it's been my goal ever since the end of 2006 to be able to do unassisted pullups or chinups. I started off doing them against 90 pounds, meaning I was capable of lifting around 80+ pounds myself. Now, at 132, I can lift up, well, 132 pounds!

So I'm a happy camper, indeed.

Best wishes,

Barbara

Thumbs up Surgery scheduled

Morning all,

You know, it's been almost 11 months now that I've been on my get-healthy lifestyle...and things are going peachy! While the weight loss has slowed to a crawl (still holding steady between 130 and 133), my inches have definitely decreased so I'm a happy camper.

The really good news is that surgery for my femur has finally been scheduled. I can't believe that I've been able to lose all this weight and do all these exercises while having a doorknob of bone stuck to the side of my leg. It just goes to show that no matter what kind of condition one is....one can always compensate.

Enjoy,

Barbara

Successful surgery!

Morning,

One thing I hate about recovery is it takes too long. But I'm quite thrilled that my surgery this Tuesday went well!

Today I'm a bit more stiff than before, so I'm making certain to take it easy. And of course, my normal exercising is a no-go during this time, so I'm doing isometrics instead. I found some great resources for that:

Isometric Articles

How To Do Isometric Exercises | How To Do Things.com

Bodybuilding.com - Kelly Baggett - The Charles Atlas Workout Revisited!

In addition, I'm really glad I know acupressure - that's also been quite helpful in relaxing my leg muscles. I'd love to throw myself into my workouts but hey, now is the time for me to actually take things easy. I promised my husband...so I guess I have to.

Enjoy,

Barbara

Thumbs up Down to 129

Morning,

Well! It's been 2 weeks since my surgery and I'm down to 129. I'm not certain, however, if that's truly fat loss or muscle loss (it's kinda sorta difficult to work out when you're in recovery-mode), so I've set my weight loss tracker to 131 instead. We'll see how it continues.

Recovery has been going superbly - I'm back to walking a mile (admittedly slower than a jogging parakeet, mind you, but hey, it's the thought that counts) and do some useful stretches every day. I'm giving myself until the New Year before I try to throw myself back into my daily routine.

One bit of good news - prior to surgery, I made certain to buy meself a nice pair of 35 pound dumbbells so I could continue to lift at home. I'm pleased to announce I can still arm-curl those babies with no problem! That just goes to show...you can always regroup regarding your exercise no matter what your condition is. :-)

Enjoy,

Barbara

Morning!

It's New Year's Eve! Wheeee!

This year has been utterly magnificent in all areas of growth for me....physically, mentally and spiritually as well. I find myself growing younger as opposed to older...it's rather a unique way to view life.

Just started P90X today and plan on continuing it for the next 89 days! I wrote a bit about it at One Fab Fit Mom - Weight Loss Success! » P90x - Week 1, Day 1, Chest, Back, Ab Ripper X .

Upwards and onwards,

Barbara

Thumbs up

Morning,

P90x is an intense work-at-home home fitness program; you can see infomercials about it quite often during the day.

Here are some P90x resources:

P90x YouTube

P90X - Forum Powered by eve community

P90X® Extreme Home Fitness (sales page)

If you're hardcore enough and workout in the gym, you can probably accomplish superb goals without it. But for folks who like working out to DVDs and don't mind pushing themselves to failure, it's an excellent package. I got mine on eBay at quite the discount.

Here's all my P90x postings:

One Fab Fit Mom - Weight Loss Success! » P90x

Enjoy,

Barbara

Thumbs up

Morning,

It's kinda sort difficult to believe more than a year has passed since my commitment to get healthy! I just looked at what I did last year at this time ( http://weight-loss.fitness.com/weigh...tml#post163677 ). So of course, today I had to honor that by doing the circle walk again; it was a bit colder but quite rainy. And with the Plyo I did this morning, this is the first time I actually emitted, ahem, tiny sounds (ie whimpers) by the time I completed it. :-) Wow, I don't think I've ever reached that point before.

That was a blatant nudge to take it easy...so I'm simply cleaning the house today.

And so starts the new year,

Barbara

Thumbs up Day 13, P90x

Hi everyone,

Today is Day 13 in my P90x adventure, and I'll have to admit, the infomercial does not lie. I'm finding it to be quite the blast to do every day.

One of the main components, of course, is diet...but as I'm already eating clean, that's simply a continuing factor. One of the really superb benefits to it, however, are the massive amounts of forums available - they cater to just about every kind of person who does P90x. The sense of community is like the one here! Lots of cheerleading of others goes on; it's quite addicting.

I've been chronicling my daily experiences at One Fab Fit Mom - Weight Loss Success! » P90x . In 2 weeks, I'll take my Day 30 pictures - should be interesting to see what changes happen.

Enjoy,

Barbara
