To be quite honest, I don't think my walk would have been half as good as it was if it weren't for this forum and all of you people here. You inspired me to train for this better than I dared to hope for. So thank YOU!

Rep Power: 17 | | | My Summer Challenge 2007 May 28th-August 15th I'm launching my very own Summer Challenge today. Here is what I am today: Measurements for May 28th 2007 Waist 30.7 inches Hips 39.4 Breast 39 Thigh 21.3 Calf 14.6 Biceps 10.6 (in the middle) Arm just below shoulder 12.6 (the widest part of the arm where women most mind...) Weight 150 lbs Fat 28,8% (these are from the scales, I don't have much confidence in them) Water 51,9% Muscle 33,6% Goal 21st June 145 lbs or waist under 30" 15th August 140 lbs or fat under 26% What do I intend to do to reach my goal- go to gym 3-4 times a week (every second day) for mainly weight training and some cardio work (stationary bike, rowing, elliptical)
- do cardio at different intensities and distancies 3-4 days a week in the real world (biking, walking, nordic-walking, running, swimming, inline skating)
- have rest days as I feel necessary and remember to stretch enough
- eat about 1700-1800 cals a day (according to how much I exercise), I go for 146 g prot, 73 fat, 35 fibre at first
- hope for the best
- learn as I go on
- not worry about the past
Any comments are warmly welcome! Juliette |

But I remember that my body has this way of reacting to any extreme physical strain. I think a few of those pounds might just disappear magically in some days. |

Rep Power: 17 | | Stats for today Exercise about 700 cals gym 1h 40 min total (of which cardio 31 minutes, rest of the time weight training)
walking 30 minutes Eaten
cal 1952
prot 146
carb 134 fat 73
fibre 33
My friend invited me over for dinner quite unexpectedly, so I thought, here goes my perfectly planned nutrition for today. It turned out I only went slightly high on the calories (there was some cider involved), otherwise the numbers are quite as I wanted them. Gym was FUN! My performance left a lot of room for improvement, but I enjoyed the program and as I get a bit used to some new things in it, I'll do better.
Tomorrow probably some biking, and I don't know what else. We'll see...

And to add to a good day, I had the best sleep ever! I woke up 10.30 feeling amazingly rested and energetic. (None of that electric bunny type, but my MIND feels energetic!)
So I'm enjoying my oh so belated morning latte (with excellent espresso and non- fat milk, home made) and reading all of your diaries. I feel some pain from yesterdays gym in the shoulder-arm area, but that was to be expected and some cooling cream will take care of that. I'm trying very hard not to make the two mistakes that probably caused me to gain 3 kgs last autumn when I started to go to gym, namely 1) not enough water and 2) not enough stretching and relaxing after the gym session. Then I got down maybe 0,3 litres of water during my gym session, now I had absolutely no problem downing total of 1,25 litres. Practise makes better even in water drinking. I used to go straight home and to other things to do after my session, just take a quick shower in between. The gym I go to now has this very nice sauna, and going there with my own thoughts, just to BE for a while, and a good stretching routine afterwards should leave my stress hormone level a bit lower than rushing straight to work. I hope.
It seems one of the marathon walk related gained pounds has left me already. Boy am I glad to see it go. So I'm back to 67,7 kg (149.1 lbs). Updated my ticker, since it's just too maddening to see the higher number there. May the scale gods be merciful and not punish me for that.
Today I'm going for a little bike ride (to water a friends flowers 18 km and some more maybe..). And I'm going to enjoy the wonderful sunny warm day and just sit and read on my balcony. I have just began Madeline Albrights memoirs, so I have about 600 pages to go. I got the book from a friend and so far, very interesting reading. Not the type of book I would have bought myself, but I'm glad my friend did. The temperature is at 23 C now and there's this sweet fragrance of summer floating in the air (in the city, can you imagine that!!), I can't seem to get enough of it to my lungs.
I wish a perfect day to everyone!

Rep Power: 17 | | Thank you, Pinkydolly and Anna! And thanks for stopping by here.
We mostly have four seasons. The downside here in the north is, that on any given day of the year we can have 5 degrees Celsius with sleet showers. So there are absolutely no guarantees. On the bad summers (5-10 degrees+rain the whole summer through) it's really hard to be worried about the climate warming crisis...
Today however looks perfect, bikini, sunlotion, sunglasses and ice water are called for. |
